The highest mileage that I've ever seen on a motorcycle that had never had the engine opened was a GS 850 g. It had been in the family for three generations from new, and had done three hundred and eighty eight thousand kilometers, and still ran perfectly. The GS 1000 g is a strong contender for the best bike ever built.
Great !! It looks very very well kept, and in excellent condition . can you tell a little bit about it ? how much kilometers ? when it was restored and what have you done to it ? how long you have it ? where have you drove it ? i think my Gs1000E was not as beauty as yours, it had a chain, not a shaft drive, and the choke was where the the engine is, i think the carburetors are different as well, mine was Mikunis but other wise it is the same bike. you have rain, and snow, we down here have maybe 20 or 25 days a year of rain, never snow. so i drove it all year long. for some time, i drove it to work and from work everyday, about 50KM each way. most of it highway, and most of the highway part i will do at around 200KMH. every day. this bike never let me down. never. is it difficult to get parts for it this days ?
Lovely bike. I saw a blue GS1000G only yesterday. Been in the family for 38 years I was told and 42000 kms on the clock. Question, are those the original indicators ?

Yes! Those indicators where new in THE 1981 years model. 1980 and earlier there where round indicators.
@@henriksoder The indicators were changed in 1981. My 1981 model still has the chromed ones.
