American public cannot differentiate between freedom and self centredness. Individualism is not freedom but an expression of characteristic, that may or may not be egocentric. Freedom also comes with a responsibility, without it, there would be chaos, hence defies the moral code of conduct.
Freedom is the most overrated word in the English language. We exist within an ecosystem, where any act by anyone or anything in it, can have an impact on all within in. If this pandemic and climate/weather-change doesn't remind us or inform us of this, what could make us, not just understand, but also to act in accordance with this knowledge?

These two academics summed up my career experience at a "prestigious" CA research university between 2007-2011. Barely learned anything useful in life, to-be-honest. They beat critical-thinking to death but not one actually practiced it.
Nobody wants critical thinking. Not the schools. Not the employers. And definitely not the spoon fed masses. Nerd lost it's pejorative meaning around the time specialization in STEM became useful to the owning class. But you're only supposed to hyperfocus on a narrow area of expertise. Having a wide knowledge base is not an employable skill so it is not advertised as beneficial.
Being, at least a bit of, a sceptic and have the skills to do so is crucial for a society who wants not to lean on what's said they should do but being constantly in progress to improve their own advantages in life. If not, people become sheeps, willing to swallow and do all what's required by those who rule.
Nothing but mad love and respect for Uncle West and Uncle Wolff for keeping the beacon of knowledge aflame in these trying times. What a period in time to be alive! Both scary and exciting!!

I am just a stupid retired firefighter. The Paper Chase was a movie that I loved when I was studying to become a firefighter. I was inspired to be challenged and the thought of becoming the best in something that fought for justice endeared me to Harvard Law School. Now that I see how these Ivy League schools promote the two tiered legal system and in their own admission giving points for nepotism I say F Harvard! I financially support Howard School of Law! In 1991 in the USA, I was making $6.00 an hour, which was okay money then for a summer university job.
30 years later $8.00 an a hour is slave labour.

I am just a stupid retired firefighter. The Paper Chase was a movie that I loved when I was studying to become a firefighter. I was inspired to be challenged and the thought of becoming the best in something that fought for justice endeared me to Harvard Law School. Now that I see how these Ivy League schools promote the two tiered legal system and in their own admission giving points for nepotism I say F Harvard! I financially support Howard School of Law! I hope that there will be a flood of lawyers ready to fight these injustices and until all people have the tools to access the levers of power we will never be a democracy. We must kill these monopolies by these gatekeepers by a thousand cuts pushing for justice for all!
