One of the most famous and rarest vintage turntables. Does it actually deserve the praise and the fame it gets?

The perfect find would be the TX-1000.

Nice video but just a few corrections are needed as many don't know the information. There is a Nakamichi complete book that was published last year and it is described in the book how and who designed TX -1000 and the Dragon turntable. First it was developed and designed all by Nakamichi and Micro Seiki didn't have nothing to do with the turntables, second the main designer was Hiroshi Meguro, and the designer of the auto central c.s. Was Hideo Goto he was the same one that designed the NAAC on the Dragon deck.

@@KITR-UK Nakamichi complete book is the actual name, it's published in Japan, inside is all of the history and all of the models that they made with lots of pictures.

really good review. I've been a nak fan, but think I will pass. I like my Sansui XR-Q7/Victor(JVC)MD1016(MM) too much. also top-dog for me, MImight beTrio-Kenwood L-07D. two I recommend you for reviewI've never bought an LP which proved to have out of centre hole-bad enough to affect the sound, Etsu and Niro had to have AanUSP. 40 years from now, will current ROTL TT be working/sounding good?- bet this DD will, unless worked to death.

If I ever get my claws on the Kenwood, I certainly will review it.
It took me some time to rummage through my LP collection, but couldn't find any with off-centre hole to properly test it.

@@KITR-UK think it likely that centering feature was a sledge-hammer solution to crack a subious walnut. Iwould demand a replacement, if a seller sold me a defective copy of an LP. still, a nice TT.

if the cartridge specifies a tracking force of 1.5 to 2.1 grams, WHY would you choose to go with 1.5grams?? Of course you can't stay in the groove. Always go with (at least) the max specified tracking force. Also, a cartridge that calls for 1.5g, is going to be a high compliance (soft suspension) cartridge. NOT suitable for the Dragon TA-100 tonearm (with it's medium/high effective mass). Another reason why the cartridge is not stable in the groove. And yes you're right, this is a bellow-average sounding turntable that emphasizes on its centering feature while cutting corners on everything else. It uses mostly plastic parts, perforated bug-screen, a weak motor, a cheap platter, and a Very cheap tonearm.
