One of the best episodes from Grey's ever. It broke my heart but I'm glad they tackled such an important topic. Consent should be something that is taught in sex ed across all schools in the world.
i loved how they intertwined bailey/ben/tucker's storyline with consent into the storyline as well. almost like telling the next generation about consent and safe sex so that problems are solved before they even arise.
@@lisashook4290 Unfortunately, not every child has this kind of open, supportive upbringing. Not always due to ignorance or neglect but sometimes because of culture where talking about sex etc. is just too much of a taboo subject. I myself did not grow up in a sex positive household and while not explicitly said, it was just an unwritten rule that if I needed consults on such matters, only school could help. So thank you, Lisa, for raising your sons right.
Neither did I. Probably part of the reason I was raped. But I empowered myself to teach my children that no means no. Having a poor role model as a child is no excuse in his day and age. Boys need to be taught to be especially and girls need to be taught to be more aware of their environment. I'm 54 and I'm woke, are you?
I've always liked Camilla Luddington and the way she portrays Jo. She and Alex are my favorite couple on the show now. Their story and Jo's story is intriguing.
This young girl is outstanding....she's carried this character beautifully and is one of my favorites now...this episode was brilliant, so well done and the Wall of Women, WOW. .. thank you
This is why representation of both genders and all races/ethnicities is so important in healthcare. Patient comfort should always come first, and in this episode it was so important that this patient had an all female healthcare team. 50 years ago, it would have been hard to find that many women in the hospital to line the hallways. Amazing episode and sending a huge virtual hug to all the survivors who watched this episode. May you continue on the road to healing.
Daniela Schmidt I was thinking that as well. In the past it would’ve been hard for her to have an all female team and it’s so great that though we are a far way off from equality, steps are being made.
Agree to agree!!!! She's so incredible. And Shonda Rhymes fighting the standards and practices. And they put that stupid warning at the beginning. But they persevered and Abby, Jo and Jo's mom killed it in every single scene. The women in the hallways. I cried and cried. Debbie Allen being a such a gifted director and a woman, I am sure played a huge role in what I consider to be one of the most powerful hours in television history.
I have always liked the way that Grey's handles topics like this. It's done with so much thought and respect. Whenever they do powerful episodes like this is always evokes powerful emotions and it is always done with so much respect. This is just one of the many reasons this show is one of the best on TV.
This episode was seriously one of my favourite episodes, Camilla was incredible. All the actors in these emotional scenes did such a phenomenal job making such a horrible topic become such a beautifully open act of sisterhood and love and strength. I was bawling through most of it. Especially this scene in the hallway, and the rape kit scene. The acting in these important moments was just beyond incredible, I was an emotional wreck from start to finish. Well done Grey's Anatomy!! Do they give awards for single episodes? Because this one deserves them all
This episode had me crying. It was so emotional and so incredibly powerful! I think it’s very important to talk about these things because sadly they happen all the time and I’m glad they used their platform to do it.
I love the title is "silent all these years" by my favorite singer Tori Amos. The hotline number at the end is for RAINN, which was helped created by tori amos
Camilla better win mega awards for this episode and even if she doesn’t she needs to know that her talent in itself is an award of its own. A God given gift! Thank you for this episode!
After going through a similar situation watching this episode brought up a lot of feelings but not all bad. Having this representation is so important telling the story of a survivor is so important
I cried harder during this episode then any in awhile myself and coworkers were just talking about this today wonderful episode it was hard to get through but so worth it
This episode makes me balls eyes. I’ve been teaching my nephew to listen when being told no or yes and to learn to say no. Its so important and something that needs to be taught at a young age.
This episode always gets me I think it was so well done, the moment they walk to theater and all the women line the walls makes me cry every time. Women are superheroes
Fabulous episode. The last time I heard her talk outside of Grey's was in a video a while ago and her accent was much more British back then. You can hear throughout this video that it's going from US to UK. Love her.
Lolly Graham Yes, and the actor that plays Dr. Hunt is Scottish and there is a blooper that both of the talking in their normal accent and it was was funny
There are still people who dont understand rape and why it happens and how it effects you in the long run. I liked this episode because it showed women supporting women to make them comfortable. Rape kits should be discussed more and the process. There are a lot of women that are ashamed and even hate the rape kits because feel like getting violated again. It should be a tool of comfort and justice for women. Patients of rape should never be left in the room by themselves while waiting for the person who performs them. It sets a mood of depression and then sometimes even backing out of having one done.
Probably like almost 20 yrs ago I sst in a room of young women. We were probably like 18/19/20. There were about 10 of us. Somehow the discussion of sexual assault and rape came up. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US HAD MULTIPLE EXPERIENCES. Not just some, NOT JUST ONE EXPERIENCE. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US HAD BEEN ASSAULTED MULTIPLE TIMES. Its not ok.
Their are so many out there that have had assault happen to them so thank you so much for being our voice and showing the side people like to gloss over
What i loved. Was how shonda explained consent to kids watching this show. Ben and Tuck talking about Fun , and it all has to stop. Beautiful way of teaching a son or daughter.
They do mention her and i think she was giving her 2 cents on matter, Google shonda Rhimes netflix, or shonda Rhimes leaves abc. Current show runner is krista vernoff
I think this scene would have been even more powerful, if all the women in the hallway were survivors of sexuell assault. (I also think we should call them "survivors" and not "victims")

What’s sad is that most schools still don’t have adequate sex ed, and some have none at all.
It should be taught in the home! I have 3 sons and their entire lives I've told them NO MEANS NO!!!!!!!!
