    Hi, what an amazing torch this is! I bought the dx80 about a month ago and went up a mountain in Wales where I live with a few friends in the early hours of last Friday. Anyway after about 20 minutes shining it down on the countryside below we heard a noise in the sky so I pointed the torch towards where the noise was coming from and it was only a police helicopter! They landed to see what we where doing and after explaining they had received over 300 phone calls from concerned residents thinking a plane or something else had downed! I fucking love this torch but it is a torch that needs to be handled with respect as it can bring a whole lot of problems down on you! Anyway great vid and it's torch not flashlight lol.

    You should set your camera's brightness sensitivity to manual, that way we could see the full intensity of the lights. Great lights anyway

      ...or not. if you set camera on manual the spotlight could be a white burnout image... a light in a video (photo) picture can only be judged by comparison to something common in daily life (100w bulb light, car beams, candle, etc)

    Your right, i have the Immalent DX80 and i have thought, "is that all?" when i have taken it out. That X80 seems pretty impressive but what has kept me away is that shrimpy can size that gets way too hot....and does not stay in that mode for long. Really i have had other torches perform as bright as the DX80 for less lumens. Acebeam the company has several good products just getting ready for my first $500 flashlight coming in a few days, THE ACEBEAM X65,. me personally i like throw with some flood and good peak turbo run times... Damn it would be amazing if such flashlights manage such a light output continuously.
    But I guess they'd have to bring up the efficiency to way over 90%. 95% would probably be necessary.
    If an LED would transform 100% of 1 Watt into light it would bring you around 350lm. So 95% would be ~332lm/Watt. So you could apply 100 Watt and get 33200lm and only 5 Watt of these 100 Watt would become heat. I guess that is still OK. With this new Battery that Sir Goodenough apparently developed with a team of researchers we could have batteries with 3 times more energy density than we currently have. So maybe if they manage to put a 100Wh battery into the body of a flashlight like the Imalent DX80 you could have a full 33200lm for a full hour. DAMN that would be nice!

    These are awesome flashlight, but how long do the batteries last before they start going dull or dead. And how much do the batteries cost, are they rechargeable. I have two flashlights one that last five hours at one that lasts 20 minutes when I go walking. I would like to know how long they last and about the batteries cost.

    • @lightitup1128
      @lightitup1128  6 років тому +4

      TedTen10 those are good questions. First, both lights come with the cells you need included. The DX80 has a proprietary battery pack. I am not sure how much a replacement is. The X80 comes with four Acebeam high drain cells. The price varies depending on where you buy them. I would estimate an average price, per cell, between $18 and $23. This price range will certainly vary depending on where and when you buy them. Second, both lights have heat control so neither light will allow you to run it on maximum output until the cells die. Both lights average time until stepdown is between 3 and 5 minutes. The stepdown output also varies between both lights. On the maximum runtime modes (both lights are different) the lights last for hours upon hours. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching!!!

    • @stephendevore
      @stephendevore 6 років тому +2

      They last for hours, at 2-3 minutes per use? Confused.

    • @lightitup1128
      @lightitup1128  6 років тому +2

      sadsongsishere the higher outputs are heat regulated. These lights produce far more maximum lumen outputs than most/all current competition. Extreme lumens produces extreme heat. In order for the light to protect itself from melting down or catching fire, the higher outputs are forced to cool/step down at a certain temperature. It might help to think about a fully automatic machine gun. The rate of fire per minute cannot be held indefinitely or you will warp your barrel. Or, a street car that is capable of reaching 200mph. The car may be able to achieve 200mph, but you do not drive the car at 200 mph for very long. I hope this helps.

    This light is fantastic and is the brightest light you can buy right now, that will change next year I'm sure, but right now, this is it. The only complaint I have is I wish the switch was better thought out, for one thing it's hard to come from other brands like Olight, to find this works exactly opposite, in that you need to push and hold for this to switch off, instead of just hit the button and it goes off, this one when you hit the button to turn it off, it gets brighter, it seems like no big deal but it is a pain and none of my other lights work this way so it's hard to get used to.
    The bigger complaint is that it's way too easy to turn on, even if you lock it out by holding the switch down for a full second of two, mine has come back on in my brief case by it touching something for a second or two and on it comes and it can start a fire on the highest settings, so I was twisting the end cap instead just to keep it from coming on accidentally, well, I did that once and it did something to the electronics, a surge I guess, and it went dead. Two months old and a very expensive light was dead, I was so sad because it was so amazing.
    Thank goodness I bought mine from Amazon and I do a lot of business with them, so they covered me almost completely on it but after 30 days, they don't have to do that, I felt lucky and well taken care of by Amazon and that's why I don't mind spending a little more (sometimes) to buy though them, especially with a purchase from China.
    So, don't twist the tail cap and you will probably have a great light, I absolutely loved mine and don't listen to these experts on these comments that say that their cheap light is just as bright, even though they admit they never have seen a DX-80. With normal use, mine never kicked down from 32,000 and it never ran out of battery and I used it a lot. I do landscaping and with this light, I can see clients after dark during the week and still see their whole yard with no problem, doing sales, not work, it made me money in the little time I had it. I plan to replace it soon. I got the Olight X7R 12,000 lum. and it's great, but it's no 32,000 lum. The X7R is way more portable, smaller, lighter, built well, but something about that 32,000 lum. was so special.

    Also please keep up the great videos please.
    Now to my question :) What I don't understand yet is the fact that the X80 can go as low as 30m underwater, yet it is not supposed to be used for diving.
    I'm a diver. On a normal diving day there is one dive below 30m (35-45m) however, all the other dives are between 15-25m. Can I use the torch for diving now or not? If not, why? It could potentially have sth to do with the heat release valve or the button I suppose. Cooling certainly would be a blast when being submerged.
    Thx in advance if you guys need to spend time on finding this out. I could not find information on this on the net unfortunately.
    Best Regards from Germany,
    Matt ;)

    • @lightitup1128
      @lightitup1128  6 років тому

      Matthias Leute thank you for actually taking the time to watch our video's!!! I absolutely love it when viewers tell us where their from. I Pray all is well Germany!!! I assume that you already know what I am about to tell you in regards to the IPX Water ratings for lights but in the event that you don't..... The IPX ratings on lights have two requirements. The first is the most obvious, depth. Most IPX8 rated lights will indicate 1 or 2 meters in parentheses. The second, less advertised requirement is time at depth. It is my understanding that IPX ratings are similar to D.O.T ratings with tires in the United States. When a manufacturer aims at a certain speed rating for one of their tires, once the tire has passed that rating they are satisfied and have no desire to push the limits of that tire. Many people in the United States see an H rated tire, which is rated at roughly 112 mph and think that that tire can not hold up at speeds exceeding 112 mph. The truth is that an H rated tires speed rating means that that particular tire can maintain a speed of 112 mph without failure. The tire can go well above the 112 mph designated speed but the manufacturer does not want to spend the resources to market and test the limits of that tire. It is easier to play it safe and stay comfortable at the H rated standards. In the lighting world, the original NiteCore SRT7 was only given an IPX rating of the standard 1 or 2 meters. In a pressure sensitive test, the SRT7 continued to functure beautifully at pressures easily exceeding 60 meters. Could the SRT7 be used as a dive light??? From the tests I have seen it appears that it certainly could. Keep in mind the second part of the IPX ratings. In order to recieve an IPX 8 rating, the light only needs to function at said depth for 30 minutes without failure. I believe that the Acebeam X80 can function at depths of 30 meters without question. However, there is no twlling how long it can withstand that depth pressure because once the manufactorer exceeds the minimum requirement for time, there is no need to continue testing. Unfortunately, there is no way to know of the X80 can be used as a dive light unless someone decides to test it diving or in some simulation tank. Dive specific lights are actually tested at depth for extended periods of time. I hope that this helps and I'm sorry that I could not be of more help. This is what I have always believed to be the case. Some of the information here may very well be disproven by someone with far more knowledge on this subject!!! Greetings from the United States my friend and safe diving!!!

    • @DrLeute
      @DrLeute 6 років тому

      What a great and detailed reply, thanks a lot!
      Well I guess that someone needs to test the X80 while diving then, probably that's going to be me xD I'll probably just give it a shot when doing a night-dive since they are normally no deeper than 20m and last no longer than 30min. If I happen to test it on my next vacation (prob. September or so) I will let u know. Guess I'll shoot a video in this case, too. If the test fails, I'll have some footage at least :D

    Hi Lads, great video. Unfortunately I can't justify spending such a large amount on a torch. Do you have a video, or a comment, on what is the best torch for around €50/$60?

    • @lightitup1128
      @lightitup1128  6 років тому +2

      Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy thank you so much for the positive feedback my friend! I completely understand, I paid out of pocket for the DX80 used in this video and returned it after the review because I can't afford high end lights like this either!!! I am not exactly sure how much your currency figures equate to in U.S. dollars but I think I have an idea. My favorite lighting tools are actually in the $60 to $100 range. It is impossible for me to say that there is a "best" light in that or any other category, but I do believe that there are many great lights in that price range. I am not sure what you like in a light in terms of size, lumen output, beam type, etc... For this reason, I would recommend you do your research on light products made my Klarus, Olight, Fenix, Acebeam, Nitecore and Thrunite. In my opinion, these are some of the most respected and senior lighting companies. I apologize I couldn't be more specific! I hope this helps!!!

    30-40 yards away? I don't believe it. Looks 15 to 20. Cameras like this adjust intensity based on light source so no way to compare like this. Unless you go to an open field with a distant tree line. One light on the left, one on the right and the camera operator in the middle, but much farther back. Compare both lights simultaneously.

      It has multiple modes. It only has a time limit if you put it in Turbo mode. If set at a more practical degree of lumens it would have a much superior runtime.

      Caleb Cortez all lights step down eventually for different reasons. Thermally first or due to voltage. Your SL is rated at 1 hr 15 mins at 3500 lumens. You are either blind and can’t see the step down or haven’t had it on turbo long enough to experience the step down. Two 18650s can’t sustain that 1hr. It’s not how voltage and light output works.

    Even though the Imalant DX80 is a beast of light output it’s not 32,000 lumens and more like 19,250. Still for what it does do is pretty impressive and the runtimes are pretty good as well as heat dissipation. Is it worth paying $300.00+ for it? No and even though it boasts a 5 year warranty I’ll tell you why I said no. Imalant in the past has 1. Lied about their light outputs. 2. Their customer care service is horrible. And 3. It’s too damn heavy for practical use. If you do decide to buy the DX80 then be prepared 1. For a long wait in the mail as it’s shipped out of China and can take up to a month to receive. 2. If the light is defective upon arrival be prepared to pay shipping and insurance costs too ship it back to China and that can take up to another month of waiting for a refund or replace in which it will take another month to get the replacement, If you can actually get customer service to respond then even that can take weeks. There are no US repair shops that can repair that light. Battery replacement packs can run up to $200.00 if you’re not careful where you shop. The Acebeam X80 does the full 25,000 lumens in short burts however it gets extremely hot too where you’ll need a glove to hold it. In lower modes from 4000 down it’s manageable and some come with a handle mount. The battery usage times of the X80 are pretty good in the lower modes vrs other hot flashlights like Nitecore TM series. One of the things I love about the X80 is that it’s water resistant up to 30 meters which is a whooping 100ft! And yes you can run 25,000 lumens under water for longer periods. The different color modes are really cool but just for impressing kids and that’s about it. The carrying case is well built better then some I’ve seen on other expensive flashlights. It does come with a lanyard, case and 4 high drain Acebeam brand batteries but no batter charger. Let go back to customer service because Acebeam really does shine when it comes down too fixing, replacing or getting refunds. No wait and no hassle and they have other top of the line flashlights for reasonable prices. Now Acebeam does have a newer version of the X80 that’s 32000 lumens however it lacks the color mode and isn’t water resistant to 30 meter rather 2 meters instead. It gets super hot! My suggestion is stick to the 25,000 lumens. I saw a deal earlier with a handle, batteries and a decent 4 port charger for $290.00. The X80gt is $350+. I’d suggest the X80 for flood and the K70 for throw, out of both of those flashlights they will both serve you well.
