The strobe on that light is to fast, mine is slower and much more effective as to disorientation..!! A little slower causes much more eye adjustment sequences as compared to your light....I know this from using it on myself..!! On the otherhand, a very high lumen light, 4000 or more can be very affective, especially when compared to 10-20,000 lumen lights So what I purchased after a long through investigation, both on you tube and the manufacturers sites was the.... My wurkkos ts10 is set up with a pretty fast strobe interval thanks to the anduril ui, and I think that helps with my disorientation and time distortion I like to test strobe light by running from and towards what would be a self defense situation in hallways and outside, from what I experience it’s best for creating distance but for actually defending yourself a long turbo at medium to clore range with disable their focal point and give you the advantage. I’ve owned the X80 and X80-GT for about 4 years now and totally agree, both are great lights. Now, if I can just get my hands on the X80-UV, I’d have the whole lineup.

You didn’t say which light was more blinding/disorienting??

One test you didn't do is moving to one side with turbo and then with strobe. The reason I mention that is from others who experimented with this found that with strobe, the 'subject' seeing the light found it harder to detect side movement with strobe. So, if that is true, I'd rather use strobe since it is harder to detect my side movement. Also, modern lights also have a variable strobe, no rhythm. I would tend to think that makes it worse for the person looking at the light.

If you don't like the rubber tab on the charging port you can always shave them off to make them flat with a sharp knife, I did that but now regret it as I need to use a knife or a pin to lift it up

I know for a fact Strobe works. A bright light has its use for a type of concealment on the eyes of the person it's being pointed at. Strobe is for disorienting rather than blinding.

Thanks for the effort but the serious attecker expects u to none awere while planning to attack So İf a dumb attacker will approach in front u can defeat that only 1 move with lighyt flash Just wait to attacker to your strike range Then it's close eneough 1 flash and it's blinded for 3 sec. Go on and make ur move with flashlighyt bezels strike Real good and hard Side of the skull Nose Mouth Throat Back of the neck etc. Always aim for the head Then proceed to disarm if therese a pistol or smth. Fighyt it's Just ends like 7 sec.

i feel like the particular flashlight used is pretty similar either way, but a slower flashing light may produce a stronger slow motion effect.

actual experience airsofting at night against both strobe and non strobe. it's very difficult to aim at a strobe vs steady. your eyes doesn't adjust to strobe but does to steady. i've shot out many steady weapons lights while i'm strobing them. i didn't get hit.

Nice video well done but as for me I had surgery on my eyes that didn't go so well so strobe is a disadvantage for me the ( UNKNOWN DEFENDER ) that's my super hero name 🤣 Lol. But a strobing green laser light helps me to spot the laser dot much faster. So I guess it really depends on each individual visual eyesight tolerance imo 🤔 hmmmm?

How many lumens was this light used in the video? Try it with a 3000+ lumens light and see if the attacker can actually touch the defender without the defender countering a strike

The initial blindness is what matters most and you look like both eyes are closed from start to finish so the test means nothing. It would be the effectiveness of the initial blinding at various distances that you should be testing. With both eyes closed there is no disorientation so you just keep aiming in the direction you're facing as to where if you got hit with the Intial blast of light for all you know your target stepped left or right a few steps. Great Idea for a video just not enough thought put into it.

How about you actually let your eyes adjust to the dark "ambient lighting" and then try to "attack" your friend. Lighting and strobe have very different effects. But your just walking back six paces straight in from of him. Then all he does is hit you with a bright light with your eyes closed then you pull out your light then hit him center mass. Well anyone can walk backwards and keep there eyes closed and stay right in front of your target. If your really put some real sim into it you will realize the real outcome of this sim will be real different.

WE TESTED THIS IN THE MILITARY (CORPS(MARINES))..I AM NOW SPACE FORCE. ANYWAY BY FAR, (MANY TIMES) THE LESS FLOODY A LIGHT IS,THE BETTER THE EFFECT IS (BLINDING). AS PER OUR TEST A "L.E.P." IS BETTER THAN ANY NORMAL FLASHLIGHT. EVEN IF THE LEP IS 1/4 LESS LUMES OR MORE. OUR LEP TESTED WAS A FENIX SOMETHING, VS (BEEN A FEW YEARS) 12-15 HIGH POWER/QUALITY NORMAL LED LIGHT FROM 1000 TO 20 000(CLAIMED) MUST BE THE CANDELLA NOT THE OVERALL LUMENS.( A FOCUS THING). THIS IS A 1 V 1 SITUATION. VS A MOB,IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A FLOODY LIGHT. *YES YOU LIGHT GUYS CAN GO ON AND ON ABOUT DIFFERENT LEPs. WE (LATER) TESTED A FEW. OF THE 8 WE TESTED ONLY THE FENIX COULD TAKE THE PRESSURE WAVE FROM FIRING W/O BREAKING. SOME COULD TAKE A FEW SHOTS THEN WOULD STOP WORKING. THAT FENIX OVERALL IS JUST WELL MADE AND NICE. To me, the question is which light would most disrupt the accuracy of the assailant’s aim, and ability to see other things around them. So maybe repeat the test with an airsoft pistol and see if one or both disrupt your aim, and if so whether one is more disruptive than the other.

The EC20 is very similar to the EC23 and I'm glad I went with that instead - just has better power management and doesn't need a high drain battery to work properly. It was a bit cheaper and still very bright in turbo mode. Also - the intensity settings cycle a lot faster and there is no 3 second delay to step through the brightness levels - it will start cycling immediately whenever you press and hold. Only two quick presses to strobe. EC20 is just a much easier to use flashlight overall. Not sure which model Nitecore introduced first, however.

I don't think a strobe light adds anything, if your flashlight is powerful enough that is.

How about a light with the narrow beam ??? And no flood light like a "L.E.P"
