Another Masterpiece Paul, once again your eye for detail, and superb story telling has produced a video of the highest quality, the content of which makes every minute a joy to watch.....Keep up the great work....Bob
I always enjoy this trip Pat, I used to visit on a regular basis once upon a time, but then it all stopped. Waitrose Supermarket, you see it when I exit the ferry, wasn't there last time I visited. Many supermarket trucks visit the Isle of Wight, Parcels too. :-) Not sure about food Bulk tankers. Thank you for sitting alongside me on this journey, always a pleasure.. :-)) Bonne Route next week. P :-)
Happy memories Jarno, I always enjoy ferry rides, makes for a nice change to my normal driving routine. Thanks for watching, have a nice day...Paul :-)
Me too, I just love the whole idea of catching a boat, loading up and unloading etc, so many trucks and cars to get packed onboard. I didn't have to wait very long, they have two ferries operating at the same time, one from each end. Thanks for a great comment, have a nice weekend...Paul :-)
You were in my mind when I ventured onto the ferry, I know you enjoy this sort of thing Andy, me too if Im honest, I love the whole set-up, sure does make for a nice change. This is a new customer for my customer, so Im hoping I shall get more chances to go over to the Isle of Wight in the future. Definitely "Onwards" as Mr V might say..ha ha. Im sick to my back teeth of all this rain now, its depressing. Thanks Andy makes a change for you to envy me..LOL
Those sunglasses have clocked a few miles up by now..haha - I always enjoy a ferry ride myself, just for the hell of it, its so different to normal driving AtoB. Reason I was last on the ferry going out, was, I should have gone on the 8am boat, but I arrived in time for the 7:15, but because I wasn't booked on that boat, your made to wait till last, then if theres room still left, on you go, hence my rear end slot. Thanks for watching and great comments.. Paul :-)
Thats a great opening line Bill, like that..ha ha. It was the fact the boat had only just pulled out, I literally missed it by minutes, if only those traffic lights hadn't been on Red and so on..LOL - I didn't have to wait long, two ferries operate at the same time, one from each end, so you never wait around for too long, just time to grab a coffee and take 5 mins. Thats my first time in "Pole Position" as they say, straight down the middle. Thanks Bill, enjoy your weekend..Paul :-)
Funny how the grass in your field looks greener than mine John..ha ha - You would like the Isle of Wight, I imagine, especially places like Ventnor, Shanklin, to name a couple. The island is only 22 miles wide, give or take, so is very easy to see it all. Hope the Regal Lady is ok? you wanna take over the wheel and steer a course due south...LOL
great trip again Paul nice crossing ,you have done that trip last winter ,sad that the weather wasnt better the road and the streets seems very nice to see i didnt know that the big rigs were allowed on the roads there.but it is a destination not for my bulker.i dont think that they have big industries who need good in silo there.it is a small island it seems that the majority of the trucks traffic is for the food deliveries(like the spanish truck or the supermarket lorries) thanks Paul Pat
Another winner keep the clips rolling. I remember an old write up about Steve Porter transport at 8:41 in 1986. They started out with two Renault Masters and an old Leyland FG. So Merc Sprinter today and perhaps a fleet of 44 tonners in the future. All with vid cams in the cab's of course.
Yes not so cheap on the ferry, this costs just over £100 for going both ways in my kind of vehicle. Yes a backload would have been nice, but I had another delivery after this one 50 miles away in Surrey. Thanks for joining me Simas, you too have a nice weekend...Paul :-)
Ever since the Transits launch in the 1960's it has been an iconic vehicle in the UK. Compared to what was around back in the day, the Transit came along and revolutionised the whole van image. Its become King of the road, especially in the construction business and general van market. Thats why you still see so many on our roads to this day. However in my game, Courier work, constant long distance, Mercedes Sprinter is king. Transits fall apart Im told at 100,000 miles, Sprinters go on & on. :)
I never knew that! thats one of those trivia Q you would be asked in a Pub Quiz..ha ha Thanks Nils, you too have a nice weekend. Greetings to Kiel :-) Paul
Brilliant Paul, never been there, pity about the weather.I wished i led a life of travel as you do,i have to put up with living at the seaside, traveling on boats all of the weekend.LOL
Thanks Paul,I wished we could sail the lady south, she can only sail no more than 20 miles away from port something to do with insurance. Just had a thought if you and Mrs Paul ever fancy a weekend up here, give me a shout and i will see if i can get you somewhere good to stay, and you can try out the lady for yourself........
Ah, of course, I had forgotten, been a very long time since I last was on a ferryboat. The Isle reminds me somewhat of Cape Cod and/or Newport in Rhode Island
Italian sunglasses... very posh! Once again a fascinating journey to an historic place... loved watching the whole ferry experience... Like on the return trip, I always thought first to the ferry, first on. But it looked like you were tail end charlie on the first crossing, I thought you were there first, weren't you?
No idea what that Barton Manor is about, I've passed it many times before, but this time I had to stop at temporary traffic lights, which put me right outside the Place. Maybe I should Google it and see what comes up. It certainly looked interesting from the outside, you can bet its haunted too....LOL Thanks for joining me once agin... Paul :-)
By 'eck Paul, you get about a bit lad. What luck being first on/off on your return journey. You can tell an English summer by the constant rain. If it's winter, it's cold as well lol. Nice video mate, hope you enjoyed your birthday last week. Take care, Norm.
thanks Paul for asking ,, nothing good news about the trims, the shop of your rings said that have only in 16 inch,, maybe someday i will found eh eh :-))) ciao!!!
Well spotted by you! yes its a leather steering wheel cover, much nicer to hold than the standard plastic wheel, which isn't very good as all the black comes off, making the steering wheel look crap for such a young van, not very good Mercedes, my old van steering wheel didn't go this way... :-) Thanks for watching and spotting...
Transits, Transits, Transits, I see Ford Transits everywere in your videos, they must be very popular in the U.K! What in that Barton Manor, It looks little spooky to me.. Thanks for the whole ride Paul, it was very enjoyable despite the bad weather:)
Ahh the sound of a direction finder in the background. The only problem I would have with one is that they do not factor in low bridges. Nice trip though.
Hi Paul, Great video as always, taking ferry is really interesting thing which costs a lot lol I believe that loading for home would be good for you, but you dont have your own expeditor... Anyway, have a nice weekend my friend, Simas
Yes you are right about steering wheel on your old van.I have a van too and it's Mercedes. It's very old(T1 308D1990 produce 420 000km.unreal ),but the steering wheel don't look crap and the engine working like new.Now I'm looking about something new, like your old van(313 or 316CDi).
Dank Eric :-)
Very good video paul:-) Did me remember when i was going to sweden with my dad in the truck. He is truck driver:-) Unfortunately he drives now only in the Netherlands:-( Thanks Paul.
Thanks Rob, I enjoyed it myself, not been to the Isle of Wight in a long time, so I was well overdue. BTW - I visited Swansea yesterday, SA5 area, near a large Tesco and Retail park, Waunarlwydd, then I popped across to see a YT friend in Pembrey. Was I far away from your area?
Yes getting up very early is not very nice, but normal for us drivers. I had an early boat to catch, and a 3 hour + drive to get to the ferry terminal. I dont have much confidence in the english team, will be the same old story again no doubt, almost good but not quite good enough. I hope all the english fans behave themselves out there, and don't embarrass our country. Thanks Slawek, have a nice weekend...Paul :-)
Olá Brasil - Saudações do Reino Unido - Muito obrigado pela espingarda comigo para a Ilha de Wight, eu aprecio os seus comentários. Lotes de amor de uma Inglaterra muito molhada ... :-) Paulo
Buon fine settimana ... :-) Paolo
I liked this comment - Some time ago, I made a video about how to change the engine oil, air filter, diesel filter, and adjust the parking brake on a Sprinter. Ever since then I have been inundated with Q about how to do this of that on mostly Sprinters but other vehicles too. People assume Im some sort of know-all mechanic, drives me nuts at times..LOL So I know exactly where your coming from... :-)) Lets both bog off and do something different.. :-) Thanks for a great comment...Paul :-)
That's why I'm looking for the old Sprinter,It's much stronger than new model, but in my country(not only) the Sprinter's become rusty very quickly, because of salt in winter.Did you have any problems with that with your Sprinter's?
at least for the sidebars i was lucky,, i bought them from Netherlands they are made in good quality metal and also the price was honest but 6 years ago :-) ciao!
I can get where Vaseline wouldnt..LOL - Thats the first time I have been in Pole Position onboard the ferry Norm. Im usually one of the last to be let off as a rule..ha ha Yeah birthday went ok just like the other 20 before it... :-))) Thanks Norm have a good week...Paul
Cheers - You was about 25mins away from me that was Fforestfach, gimmie a bell when your next in the area and Ile show you All Saints Oystermouth Organ! :o)
Its only my opinion, but I think the food on the Ferry is horrible! - I used my freight ticket to get a discounted meal of fish and chips, as it was the only thing that looked decent, it was horrible...LOL Coffee from the machine, normally 20p anywhere else, is £1.20 in and around the ferry. Rip off. Your not missing much here Andy, not food wise..ha ha :-)
Another Masterpiece Paul, once again your eye for detail, and superb story telling has produced a video of the highest quality, the content of which makes every minute a joy to watch.....Keep up the great work....Bob

Believe me that was a first for me, and I've done this run quite a few times over the years.
Thanks for tagging along for the ride.. :-)
Me too, I just love the whole idea of catching a boat, loading up and unloading etc, so many trucks and cars to get packed onboard.
I didn't have to wait very long, they have two ferries operating at the same time, one from each end.

I remember your film well! - Last time I visited the Isle of Wight, that place didn't exist, I think it was still being built at the time...

Im glad you could join me, don't they make special ones to suite? Thanks for watching. :-)
Hope you have a good week too, take care and thanks for watching...Paul :-)
Many thanks Gabriel, hope your search for good shape trims is going ok?
You too have a nice day, Greetings from a warm and sunny England... :-))

I think the old Sprinters seemed much better and longer living than the modern Sprinters appear to be. Your van sounds like a good van! :-)

I didn't book the ferry, it had already been done for me, all I had to do was turn up. :-)
That establishment at the 5 minute mark looks familiar hmm? where have I seen it before.
Yes getting up very early is not very nice, but normal for us drivers. I had an early boat to catch, and a 3 hour + drive to get to the ferry terminal.
