as a short arm, small handed guy, riser is absolutely crucial to me. because of leverages I'm forced to hold on or dump my wrist if I can't keep my knuckles up. It's number one on my training list
I would say for a shorter arm yes riser and finger strenght is the most important. Because you want to drag down long lever arm
I am new to armwrestling and also have small hands and short arm. So is rising less important for larger people? And do we have any hope against people with long arms and big hands?
@@nelwalsh6650 i am also short with small hands and arms, best thing to do is toughen them up as much as possible and also be very technical when fighting tall people, you cannot make a mistake or you lose everything
@@Gustavo-us7kc I see, so its a big advantage to have longer arms, but not a match decider... And can we toproll people with long arms or fo we need to stay as hookers?
@@nelwalsh6650Look at guys like Rustam Babaev, you can be a monster with tiny levers 💪💪

Useful tips🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks a lot
You talk and help train others, but do you compete also? Thx man! nice vid
I've started arm wrestling 3 months ago. I started fairly skinny at 155 lbs and had a list of 250lb dudes I wanted to beat at my warehouse, in the beggining I literally couldn't be a single one. Im now 185 and have beaten every single one of them. I've noticed a massive increase in power and stability when I dropped heavier weights and trained to an absolute strain my tendons could safely handle, as in at 30 lbs I know my muscles can be at full burn and my tendons would not be at high risk of damage so I can safely pull against a strained muscle. So, instead of curling 45lbs 10 reps 4 sets, I dropped to 30 and started burning out regardless of the rep count, but b4 I burn out I slow down a lot and focus on form and muscle engagement. As I am almost burnt I go into a static hold with my elbow bent around 90° Now here is the bread and butter, in the static hold take in short breaths and pull against ur strain with everything u have and exhale that breath at the same time you pull, as ur breath bottoms hold pressure and another quick breath in, follow with a massive pull combined with an exhale... repeat that 5 to 10 times, within these pulls u should aim to get that last pronated rep even though is feels impossible...this combination here threw my strength into a new zone. Btw these curls im doing are half or whole range pronated curls using a leather belt...I find a hard leather belt adds a layer of strength the martial arts belt was padding as the leather is more firm and gives the hand more to squeeze, just need to wrap the belt with rag or wear a glove. Rise and roll is king in this sport based on my own findings.

Thanx for the motivation bro 🤜. bro my frnd just defeat me so easily in arm wrestling can I increase my strength doing arm wrestling exercise his weight is 80kg and my is 45 kg🥲 is that weight matter in arm wrestling.
@@shrishailyashinde4949 Weight only matters to the untrained... train the proper muscles and learn some techniques and guys twice ur weight will start feeling like they are half your weight.
This is the stuff I need more of. Great video!

Thanks coach. Northern NY USA here
You're welcome!
Been training for three years.
The best version of this is the partial rep version or machine with a rope or towel.
Best strap is a automotive one you use to strap down a boat or something to a trailer. I use a heavier material one because it digs into my hand and teaches me to train through pain, especially when I am doing pronation.
If you don't have a strap, your not a real arm wrestler.
Wow ty
Ive noticed my max is VERY different depending on the day with the riser hammer curl. Some days I can keep a straight wrist with 60 lbs and other days I need to do 50 lbs. i havent noticed any real improvement yet other than my arm is bigger on my brachialis
I thought this was some old video which I missed somehow but seems like I'm pretty early after the upload 😄
Hope you enjoyed it!
Coah Ray getting high talking to himself without turning the camera on, just another day in the office 😆
4:40: Also, even with putting the weight on the knuckles, it's nothing like pulling the same weight from a belt at the end of the knuckles. I can play with a 20kg dumbbell like that, but 20 kg isolated to the end of the knuckle is pretty much my limit.
Yes, that puts more stress on the wrist making it harder to do
Coach is damn smart. Very fluent in english even has the lingo down
hello man i want so advice on how to train my arm like the elbow part bewtwwn the forarm and bicep how do i train to keep my arm in the starting pocition and keep my arm close because my right hand is strong but left arm opens so easily but my wrist is strong so i dont know
I love you(r Videos) Raimonds
Handcontrol is the important detail. It will dictate if the position you have your hand in is successful. This is the big differentiator between armwtestlers who has high success rate from those who doesn't.
yesssss risurrrr
Should i play volleyball and badminton while preparing for arm wrestling tournament....please suggest...it will be helpful
I have very long arm and I often use Low hand toproll so should I focus on rising like posting toproller?
Do you think that (controlled) ring muscle-ups are a good exercise for armwrestling? As far as I can tell, they work the cupping (since you need a 'false grip' to do them) and the pronation (during the transition from pull-up to dip). Also, the transition from pull-up to dip requires that (or at least is easier if) you stay "close to your body", which looks similar to what you need to do in armwrestling as well.
sorry for being late. I'm not 100% sure, but I think doing those kind of muscle ups are a pretty good indicator that your wirst and forearms are no joke. I used to do them as well and when I started armwrestling a few months ago, everybody said that my wrist and forearms feel insanely strong, especially for a beginner. It is probably not a go to exercise, but it sure will have it's benefits.
Very informative. Question, what type of hair conditioner do you use?
Water :D
can someone pls explain how should I mix dynamic with static training of rising?
Looking WAY WAY healthier Ray,
Rolly Ray looking like swoley Ray 💪
Do handgrippers help in training for arm wrestling
hi does riser train good for hook?
Where can i get those orange ropes
I really needed this bc my risor is very very weak and I lost all my matches at competition bc or my risor (I have video so I see it clearly). For one month i trained my risor Devon Larrat style, but I feel that I somehow got even weaker lmao. So I will swith to high reps training and see how it works out. Also can you say what is cca your max at the exercite you do at 2:42? I could maybe do 18kg and I feel like it is very weak.
@@lostprophet69420 its ok bro Im not that stupid, I go to gym 5 years I know what is too much. But I wanted to try his method, but it clearly did not work for me.
I feel like for a weak group of muscles, a good thing to do is to do loads of reps with low to medium weight to get used to straining and stressing that muscle, then maybe after a few weeks go heavier
@@thanatos5765 actually, you are incredibly stupid. Ray laid out a template for you. Step-by-step, so even you could figure it out.
What's cca?
How to train wrist directly? I have pretty strong arms, fingers an forearms. But wrist is little bit tiny.
When I do Riser Training the ulnar side of my left wrist hurts and don‘t know what to do for it, it doesn‘t heal have it for months now
How many days can we train for armwrestling?
Do you think wrist roller is good for armwrestling?
Is rising the same as posting?
Tập nhiều set có tốt không
Rising exercises are my most favorites, but i don't know how to apply it in armwrestling. 😭
Plz analys john brezneck
Will these help me with my height? Im only 5'7".
I have a couple of questions coach Ray. Why did you stop the carnivore diet and do you miss doing it? Just curious. Stay strong!
Coach Ray VS ARMWRESTLING WHISPERER let it happen
i realize the whisperer got famous by beating way bigger guys; but, we're talking bigger guys that just wander into the shop or he finds in the walmart parking lot. guy's who still use the same technique they did on a math class desk, when they were 14.
Ray would destroy him. he has more technical knowledge, and waaaay more power.
Doing weights will it strengthen wrist 💪
UA-cam algorithm boosting comment 💪
... easier to just get lifts for your shoes to increase your riser
exercising is too much work 😋
Boom
Someone at practice told me to do 5 sets of 50 because mine was strong enough at the start of practice but got work out quickly and started to dump. Anyone agree or disagree?
For the exercise at 4:00 you can use a green band instead of a belt to lift a bit heavier with less risk of wrist injury.
fat grip on a dumbell, thumbless grip hammer curl, superset with normal dumbell, accentuating wrist movement
5:50
Whats a good weight? I did 27.5kg clean and 30kg cracked my wrist😂
Devon only trains rising and pronation now and still dominate the heavy weight. You sure rising should be assistance workout?
Have you seen Devon's arms ? It's not just pronation and rising. And you can't be at the top just by working these two. He does train cupping and back pressure in videos too and practice a lot armwrestling that make his entire arms work hard. Although I've not seen any finger specific finger training from him, I'm sure he also has special exercises to focus on them.
Look at his body, he has some abs and a back. He certainly does work a lot of muscles outside of his arms too. We are very far from just pronation and rising exercises only. Armwrestling recruits so many muscles at so many different angles than even a guy like Devon known as someone who does very specialized exercises, trains a lot of muscles.
Devon also has trained his upper body for decades and his cup and fingers aswell, very long fingers and uses a style which doesn’t require much cupping power.
In this era of his pulling, you’re correct in that he doesn’t really train anything hard except rise and roll, but you’re not Devon.
🥇🥈🥉¿Can Armwrestling be an Olympic Sport or Olympic Discipline?🥇🥈🥉
How is it not the most important when it is what literally opens up the avenue to control the direction of the entire match? You control the height you control the match its that simple
"working on it will make your riser weak for 2 weeks" this is depressing, infos about this are very contradictary; some says cuz its a small muscle it recover fast and you can train it more often like travis bagent who says you should train it couple of times everyday or devon larrat, but my coach as well as you say if you work it it will be gone for some time. i hope u can see this and make a reply to clarify.
It depent on how much intensity your training day. If you want to work 2 or 3 times a week, you should focus on volume training than heavy weight so you can train it oftenly. Sorry about my English.
@@HateLoveHP it was pretty clear my friend no need to be sorry for your rnglish thankd for input
My back pressure actually weaker than my riser
8lbs sledgehammer and Isometric its all you need
