Now if they can just get the "trans education" out of grade schools....

Another point to make about our Tennessee teachers being armed is that they also are required to go through a psych exam 🧡

To the producers, could the anchor that was interviewing the military personnel stop saying “yeah” when she is interviewing? It’s leading me to believe that she is agreeing with who she is interviewing and it’s making it seem as if she isn’t impartial on this issue. And her statement about guns, free zones leading to more shootings the FBI has concluded that mass shootings are largely personal motives against the facility not because of gun policy. I searched about this after she made the statement. I was really hoping that Merit Street was going to be a different type of newscast. I might as well be watching MSNBC or Fox News.

It's so disgusting that America has even got to this point. Arming teachers, what a stressful country to live in, America is on the demise and people can't even recognize this.

Many studies have shown that owning a gun more often than not doesn't protect, rather suicide and homicide risks increase. Will this be the same in the schools? Would it perhaps be safer to put gates around schools and have everyone entering go through medal detectors like at airports- or even random searches if medal detectors are too costly?

If a teacher doesn't feel that they (the teacher) can keep themselves safe in their workplace, the teacher is going to be distracted with not feeling safe. Many people are very good, skilled, and knowledgeable with using handguns. I was able to outshoot a whole group of men and gained a lot of respect for my skills.

How is it going to be a distraction at school when the students ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF A TEACHER HAS A WEAPON IN A LOCKED, PROTECTED AREA?

The research is CLEAR. Guns DO NOT make people safe, but rather put people more at risk. Find one officer who believes the opposite, instead of presenting the research, and put him on Merit Street Media. And y'all think you're unbiased? Ridiculous. You bring two people with opposing positions and frame the conversation in a way that leans toward supporting armed teachers. My husband is a retired cop, at least he knows arming teachers is ridiculous and dangerous... Even highly trained officers who carry lose their accuracy by 60%! Teacher will not have NEARLY as much training. The problem is GUNS. It is NOT a misconception. To blame potential gun violence on signs that say gun free zone is ignorant. These facts are backed by actual research. The number one cause of death among CHILDREN in America is GUN violence! Common sense gun control is the answer. Arming teachers is not, and puts our children in even more danger.

Unfortunately, criminals will always find a way to obtain a gun. Gun laws won't solve that problem. And if not a gun, they'll find another way. Children at a very young age are being exposed to so much more violence via TV, movies and video games where they are numb to it. Perhaps society needs to work on that aspect as well.

@@Sean-fj4lu That is nihilistic defeatism. The "criminals will find a gun anyway" argument is a smokescreen, and misses the point, which is to make it harder for someone to legally have firearms. Again, the RESEARCH is clear that regulation and common sense gun laws WILL reduce gun violence. Stop using distraction tactics. And btw- to your comment: "and if not a gun, they'll find another way." Okay- how many deaths do you think will occur in a similar scenario with say, a knife vs. gun (especially an assault rifle)? Again- distractions are all you bring up...

I am a teacher. I don't want to be armed, and I don't want a gun anywhere in my classroom.
