Ofc I didn't program this game but me being a hobby programmer myself can come up with such a speculation.
At 2:24, I found another way to do it weeks ago: die, then activate the message right as the screen transitions to whatever is next (ex. in multiplayer). The timing is extremely hard to do, but it's possible.

I actually did that, what happens is that you'll see Mario fall down out of the sky in the main world, and the higher the checkpoint was placed the longer it'll take him to fall.

i love multiplayer glitches, please show more. Also redfalcon discovered a glitch similr to the pipe one shown in the beggining of the video but in smb1.
