My parents had dinner parties several times a year where she served gourmet meals. Mom would spend a week in preparation. It caused so much stress, but the foods!
What a lovely memory to share Joey. Yes dinner parties can be fraught - but with good planning - the end result is always worth aiming for!
les bons vieux jours! The good old days as Fanny Cradock would have said!
Too true!
This is so like the dinner parties my Mum made
Ah yes! Times have definitely changed! x
I'm trying really hard to think how to say this without it coming across as offensive, but.......it seems that a lot of English food has all these bells and whistles in the condiment department to balance out the flat taste of whatever is served.
They certainly get an A+ in dressing it up to at least make it appear appetizing though!👍
No offence taken! Thi video is very much a time capsule of how food was prepared and served back in the 1960s and 70s. With few TV channels, Fanny Cradock in particular had enomous influence back then. Today her style of cookery and overblown colourful decoation is looked on by many with wry amusement!!
Wow, these people/dinners seem so dreadfully DREARY & DULL!!!
Yes entertaining people at home is so much more informal now,,,
Fanny Craddock was not al la carte, but utilised basic post ratios into dressed up pretentious rubbish
