- Since there does not seem to be decent versions of fanny cradock cooks for Christmas on youtube..all the 5 parts thought I would upload them as I just got them on digital. These aret he best quality your going to get as they are straight from what is shown on tv, not sure if youtube will compress them any
check our the other 4 parts for some nostalgic fun :D
I took the plunge and made the omelette, and it's actually surprisingly good. Don't knock it till you've tasted it!
It definitely looks suspect with mincemeat in the middle, and powdered sugar on top, but I'd give it a try...No doubt about that.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas for me without watching this Fanny at Christmas series. And who knew all men hated mince pies?
I wonder if, when she was lay out, just before they put the lid on, they covered her in sifted icing sugar🤔
Haha bit like jamie oliver! Everything in olive oil! Instead of icing sugar 😂
Ghastly in a word
She was scarier than the Daleks when I was a boy. I've never seen food dredged with so much icing sugar, lol. Nothing she cooked here looked remotely edible, you'd need a gallon of your favourite beverage to wash that lot down with.
I wonder if Fanny made "Dear Sarah" wear a nondescript muumuu so as not to take away from Fanny's fabulousness?
Spirit Halloween really needs to feature a Fanny Cradock mask!

The eye brows and hair 🎀 ribbons are so camp.
Almost like a 60's Grayson Perry.
I thought it WAS Perry!!
Fanny was comical. That mincemeat omelette though :( YUK.
2022 3 weeks shy if 2023 and I am just now seeing her. My goodness...I grew up watching Julia, Jacque and Graham Kerr. This lady is something else. Snaps and " thank you my darling". Does everything have icing sugar? She is quite overdressed and I'm sure she burned a few dresses. 🤣👍🙏👏
She looks like Patrick Swayze from “Too Wong foo”
Hahaha, shame on you. Patrick Swayze was a FAR better looking dame than Fanny, lol.
@@popazz1 haha, touché! 🤣
@@darrowoflykos4909 It's a superb movie, though. Who knew Wesley Snipes could look so fine dragged up, lol.
I think those pancakes could use a little more icing sugar, Lol.
I absolutely love watching her, so very glad I found out about her through the comment section of a "British Pave" video. She is now my favorite cooking show host. I am sure she would be delighted to know people are watching her videos in 2019/2020.
I watched this show about 10 years ago, and these British people made several recipes from a very old "cook book" from the 16th century (I think), or somewhere around the reign of King Henry the VIII. One of the recipes was for a "cake" or a "tart", and it just basically consisted of straight sugar molded in some kind of cake tin. Only other ingredients were water to turn the sugar into a thick paste, and I think there were some fruits on top. Other than that it was straight sugar. Another funny thing about the cookbook they were working from is it had no proper measurements.
Mad as a box of frogs. Absolutely disgusting cuisine. I cannot imagine that her food tasted nice. Why is she serving the food on glasses tray?
Because it was the 1970s
I'M GOING TO BE NOISY NOW SO I'M GOING TO STOP TALKING
If in doubt...dust it with icing sugar!
Poor Sarah...she is to Fanny what Madge was to Dame Edna & these outfits look uber flammable. 70 ‘s Britain was truly the land of cordon bleughh...
Yes. I bet Sarah was terrified of Fanny.
@@independentpuppy7520 my money's on Sarah
You do realise that 'Sarah' is actually Delia Smith? And I'm not joking.......
Intriguingly tacky at its finest! Everything looks frightfully inedible--the mincemeat omelette most especially. But, boy can she roll that swiss-roll!
“ I have SPLIT crust and filled it with the mincemeat and PUSHED it UP! You see!”
Okay okay got it 😂
101 ways to us mincemeat!
Omg that pie was made six months ago it’s rock hard
She refers to things being "in the booklet" as though it were Deuteronomy.
In fairness to Fanny, The Booklet is a "holy grail" of sorts for hard-to-find objects.
She made it free for everyone unlike the greedy Oliver and his ilk.
Gastronomy not Deuteronomy!
The omelette is what makes this programme. It never goes wrong when I do it, and as a single person, I need the convenience of recipes which work every time.
There was always something quite unnerving about her, scary even. I think she was actually a drag queen but we just never knew.
1:08 "look at me being clumsy!" gets me every time 😂😂😂
"ARGUE would you? Come OUT." Even the cake looked scared.
😂😂😂
mincemeat omelet? with sugar?
Joey Suggs I thought exactly the same ....😂
Sweet mincemeat is made from dried fruit and suet mixed with alcohol.
She was strict but sometimes kind "Thank you my darling" she said to Sarah.
After she snapped her fingers at her
I think that was being patronising rather than kind
It was a scary "thank you darling, I'll kill you later"!! 😂😂
She was a pure cunt to the gorgeous Sarah ❤❤❤😕😕😕
so it comes to the VERY VERY EDGE. 😂
I'd love to know what Sarah did with her life after Fanny. Does anyone know her full name?
It's actually DELIA SMITH! Can you believe it?
@@thesteamaddict4286 is it really?
She was probably on the very very edge and needed therapy lol
@@thesteamaddict4286 no way?!!!!! Are you being serious?!
@@Simon-zg1zq I know!! 😂😂😂
Christmas isn't Christmas without Fanny!
QuirkyBird25 very true, it's the only time of year I like fanny pmsl
Honestly though it's a tradition I have to watch them all, though the digital versions I have look better than this because UA-cam has made them look worse quality
I just love this series. Fanny with her basic kitchen equipment and trusty side-kick Sarah makes mincemeat of the likes of Nigella and Jamie!....Not sure about the omelette though...
QuirkyBird25 yes the omlette definitely was not cooked pmsl and this ...no crack Swiss roll was both cracked and dry as hell and I very much doubt the crew ate this cut off parts like she said :0 does make me laugh when she screams....NOOOO at poor old Sarah in the other episode because she takes her spatula lol
Cooking with Magda Goebells
Her eyebrows in this are ridiculous! Mind you, mine were pretty high when she was making that horrible omelette abomination! Who puts mincemeat and icing sugar on an omelette?
Not unlike so many clone girls today, who shave their eyebrows off and draw them back on with a sharpie!
The bloody dishes are drowning in icing sugar and as for the omlette it looks like its still running around in the paddock!
The way she cooked the omelette is the classic omelette style - if you went to a top class restaurant, that's how it would be cooked. Putting the mincemeat on it though is definitely a bit "unique" although some people in the comments say they've tried it and it was nice.
Her omelette really is terrible and her mince pie could be used in combat! Essential Christmas viewing though.
She actually cooked the omelette spot on. If you went to a top class restaurant, that's how it'd be cooked. Putting mincemeat on it though is definitely "unique" although some people here in the comments section say they've tried the recipe and it was nice.
Wait, mincemeat with icying sugar? Whyy
I'm fairly new to the world of Fanny Cradock, as I just discovered her videos a week ago. I'm loving every minute of it! Also like how she has the exact same set as the early to mid 60s episodes I've seen. Only difference is the older ones were in black and white. I actually find her bluntness, and straight forwardness refreshing. Greetings from Virginia, "The Olde Dominion", USA everyone!
im fascinated by her and i dont know why...i cant even stand modern day cookery shows!!!
it's both terrifying yet compelling: you know it will end badly but like electrocution (her eyebrows will testify) you just can't let go...
@@sunkat76 yeah, and its got nothing to do with the cooking, its all about HER!!
@@sunkat76 shes such a character and u wouldnt see anything like this today, is i think much of the appeal...im sure she was actually a good cook too though...but take someone like delia smith for example, shes sweet as, but in comparison to fanny so boring hence why u would have to pay me to watch her lol (apologies to delia if she sees this lol)...same with mary berry etc...lovely but *yawn* LOL
@@johncrilly3126 definitely!
Yuk..mincemeat omelette...with a stack of icing sugar 😲
Excuse me, did she say that Swiss roll sponge was two weeks old?
I just can't get over it. On one end we Americans had Julia Child...and then the Brits get this. Lmao.
Interestingly, Julia child name checked fanny craddock in some of her stuff. She took some of her techniques and recipes.
@@zeddekaNo, Julia didn't "take" some of Fanny's techniques and recipes. Julia studied French cookery *in France*, learned it all firsthand, and wrote best-selling cookbooks on French cooking. The first book resulted in her hosting the landmark "The French Chef" on public television. Fanny merely stole a bunch of French stuff as an affectation.
First decorate your tree. Then start handling food
Oh my god, I know. She’ll give everyone Scots Pine syndrome.
She was very snobbish about English food, very sniffy. She was always going on about French cuisine like its the only worthwhile type in the world.
Why did she wet the tray for the top of the gallette?
If my memory is correct the steam it makes helps the pastry to puff up a bit more
SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT
One or two odd comments here, obviously by people who don't know much about cooking. She actually cooked the omelette perfectly - that's how it'd be prepared by a top class chef. Putting the mincemeat in it was certainly "unique" although some people in the comments say they've tried it and it was quite nice. Also not sure why some people have said her stuff looks dry. Mincemeat is very moist. There are definitely some things we wouldnt do now, like with all the icing sugar, but let's not forget this was literally last century - fifty years ago. Fanny was already 66 years old here. She was an Edwardian, and this is a bit of history. In 50 years time, people will look at our cookery programmes and think they're very odd indeed.
" Im going to be NOISY now so I'll stop talking" 😂😂😂😂
Poor old Sarah 😢
NuggetOfBlueGold lol
NuggetOfBlueGold thank you :)
too much icing sugar
You forget this is the 70's - recession, 3 day weeks, power cuts - icing sugar was the only joy
@@susieenglish302 that and eyebrow pencil
@@sunkat76 and mincemeat.
Diabetes anyone???
Sarah forgot to get dressed today....
I'm sure Fanny had something to say about Sarah's clothing, so that Fanny was the only person looking FABulous.
Fanny must've dragged her out of bed minutes before recording.
@@speakfreeley4473 Bed? You mean the cupboard under the sink where Fanny allowed Sarah to lie down during off hours.
Who thought it was a good idea to give this lady a show?
All the dishes seem bone dry and desiccated..... except for the omelette which is wet and raw lol!
Knappa22 I know did you like the end of the omlette one where she shows on the finished plate who it's still wet in the middle she tilts the metal plate and it's still wet all over and you see it all oozing to the edge of the plate. And her references through the episodes about the people behind the cameras eating her baking and stuff ....I very much doubt it lol
The mincemeat in the omelette is disgusting. But her technique for making an omelette is actually spot on - that's how you're supposed to make them and how they teach you to do it if you're training to be a chef.
Certainly not bone dry. Mince meat is very moist.
What is up with her eyebrows? She always looks surprised or scared. How are you supposed to taste anything but confectioners sugar? That’s not wet in the middle, that’s raw. No thanks
EYEBROWS from HELL! Can't focus on the cooking:)
LOL yes. looks like coco the clown.
😂🤦♂️👀
Love watching Fanny, but her food looks so dry and the amount of icing sugar she uses makes me wonder about the taste and that egg! ~no thanks
I know lol that roll was sooo dry did you see her put a ton of icing sugar on it quick before we saw the cracks as she said its her no crack recipe lol she does make me laugh though I think that's why I watch them more than any other reason and all of her totally made up stories she likes to tell while shes cooking lol
@@marklola12 she did say she would be surprised if it didn’t crack because it is two weeks old 😂
I'm curious why you think it looks dry. Mincemeat is very moist.
Tastefully frightful!
Don't forget 1 shelf below centre.
I wont ever forget..i have the booklet ;P
@@marklola12 what a glorious character Fanny was....a splash of colour in a grey world.
The eyebrows!
I like the trifle episode, poor Sarah she's so nervous being on TV, I Don't think so 🤔

The queen of icing sugar!! 🤣

Oh my !!! Those eyebrows. Oooffff LoL
Her food looked totally inedible. It's the comedy of it all

omg so tacky
Welcome to the 1970s
I was gobsmacked when I saw her assistant 'Sarah' - it's Delia Smith!
No it's not
Fanny was the queen of healthy cookery.
7:39 did she just say that she never washed that pan?!?!?!? 😖
She did. It sounds terrible but cast iron pans you just wipe out with some paper kitchen towel with a bit of oil on it rather than washing. If you wash it you need to season it by pre heating oil in it before use to provide a nonstick coating.
I worked as a chef and if the head chef saw you washing a cast iron, seasoned pan, you would get a rocket up your arse!! Wipe clean and perfectly non stick.
Fannys best utensil was Darling Sarah ❤️
Snaps fingers, Sarah runs on .😂 Poor Sarah.
