The car should have a range of at least 350 miles. It gets ~28mpg at interstate speed. Would it have broken their hearts to have installed a 12.5 - 13 gal. tank, which would have provided that range? C'mon, Fiat! That little tank might work for the POP, but the Abarth is a bit hungrier. The package should've included a bigger plate for a larger meal. 3.) Yes. The Beats stereo kinda sucks. Thanks for the run down, helps others a lot..besides the turbo and reflash looks like not much else could sit you on the side of the road yelling SHITBOX Lemon..so you have the Diesel model?
An Italian car made in Mexico. The end of times is near. I like the car but it's not reliable. Not good to assemble there. I'm convinced that's part of the problem.
Nismo Kid ...and mine is the better version!!! My European Abarth Competizione 2017 Facelift ist the real deal, couse there are way more changes as by the US ( made in Mexico) version!!!
joe b ... Nonsense ! The Fiats was not reliable back in the 70_80_90s...but today they simple have no problems. I speak about the European version!!! Notice, this is where they also make the Dodge Journey (also the Fiat Fremont). Can see them in many places in this film. They used to make the PT Cruiser here too.
As Endi correctly said, Toluca produces also the Journey/Freemont. And yes, basically all the 500 versions with the American specs are made in Toluca, while for Europe they are made in Tychy, Poland.
It's around 7,000 people all over Mexico. Unfortunately (or luckily) automotive plants are now always below a maximum of 4-5k workers. A 6,000 plant is considered huge nowadays
Dunno if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend recently :)
Late to the party but I've had my used 2013 500 turbo for only a few months now and loving it. One of the best cars I've ever bought. It is sooo fun to drive with it's turbo and 5-speed manual. A 6-speed would have been nice though. Too bad Fiat decided to stop making these fun little cars.
Sorry Todd, but where did you read this? The 500 is already produced in Poland, but the two cars have different specs. Why should Fiat make them in Poland and then ship them across the atlantic ocean? I mean, we would be very happy here in Europe, but it doesn't make much sense
I didn't know that there is such a diference between production standarsds for us and eu market. There is also footage of Fiat 500 assemby line in europe (tichy, poland) on you tube. Check it out and find out why (vissualy) same cars cost a lot more in europe then in us.
Having been a Fiat parts manager in 1979 and seeing first hand how the D.O.T. forced Fiat to buy back all of the 850's sold in the USA and the laughable way Fiat N.A. handled their warranty claims (they didn't). I would like to see some re-assurance regarding rust & warranty issues as to how they are addressing this concern to those of us with long memories. What techniques are they using and what recalls have been issued so far.
That's curious, because, in reality, here we spend 50% of the time trying to solve electronic problems on Thema and Freemont ;-). Anyway, you are right all 500 versions (including Abarth) are made in Poland for EU and in Mexico for NA
Looking at how much they're driven in the plant I'm beginning to think I was the only one to test drive my Abarth. Odometer had 4 miles on it when I drove it off the lot.
Interesting you say that when you bought it did it still have the h next to the mileometer if it didn't then it had been put back to zero before you had it The car can do 99 miles on the h and still be returned to zero with the menu function on the right stalk as long as it hasn't gone over 100
I have the fiat sport 500 2015 and I love it ... the only problem I have is the antenna and a part that is mounted on the bodywork but is part of the drawing of the window ... the rubber falls apart ... I have already had than change it twice ...😔
I have my Abarth for a year. The interior has a lot of rattles. Almost everyone experiences driver side window rattles. Dealer helps us fix it by adding lubricant at weather seal. Problem comes back in one week. My blower fan motor whining very noisy starting 7k miles. I will recommend the car to friends is don't like.
nsmsam , all cars will develop rattles but they are very easy to fix. I had a camry before and within six months was creaking and rattling. Because friction between plastics and between metal and plastic cause these perceived rattles. They are very easy to fix. Just get yourself a can of spray that the use for motorhomes to remove friction from sliding parts like sliding doors or windows. It works great. Spray some on the door seals, hinges, window channels, door panels where thr panels come in contact with the door. You dont have to use a lot. You will be amazed how quiet the car becomes when you eliminate creaks and rattles.
Gracias.
tell me about it....I have a 91 Dodge Shadow Convertible that Ive restored with a 2.5 turbo which was the last car that I bought new and prices have really jumped...no wonder loans are for 5 years or more now
@70noipmahc Wait, this is Factory Plant just for North American market. To lower costs production is in the Chrysler Factory in Mexico. But if you buy a Fiat 500 in Europe it is Made in Italy.
Ing. Silverio Osorno

No I live in the US...Houston....I guess I need to change my status...I did use to live in Poland....but Im buying my Abarth 500 from Northside Fiat in the Woodlands, Texas. After all is said and done it'll be around $28K...then Im having some aftermarket stuff done to it
Do you know how many Fiat 500 are assembled per day ??? This ones comes to Brazil ad I just bought one ... the interesting part of this story is that my car was promissed to 120 days after ordering it. yep ... 120 days !!! Please let me know how many Fiat 500 are assembled per day or month. Tks in advance
Fiat is moving Fiat 500 production to Poland from Mexico. I forgot what vehicle will replace the 500 in Mexico but there are supposed to be no job cuts.
I realized that none of the workers wears protective glasses. I am a young student in mechanical engineering and I find this very unsafe. Where is this built?
Since I own one now (used '12 Sport), I've read up on 'em. The North American version gets its parts from 80% different vendors vs. the Poland version. We know where the engine comes from but I always wondered about the five speed transmission ? Assembled in Toluca at the plant ? Shipped from Poland ? Shipped from Italy ?
@mrtecno99 i am thinkin about the same thing!!!! u weren't conveinced that the production's methods used in this vid below isenough!!!This is a link for the production of the Europenean version.
Engine is 1.4 Turbo...160hp from the factory....as far as it being worth buying...that's an individual thing...I don't need a large vehicle and so I wanted something to whip around town in....its a great car and really peppy. It one of the fast 0-60 cars in and out of its class. stupid ass you tube wont let me post the link to the 0-60 comparisons
There would be nothing wrong if it was made in this plant, but I think you're wrong, it is actually made in Poland, no Fiat 500 is made in Italy... and if anything Italian made cars have never been an example of reliabilty!!
Get rid of the fiat 500 sport if u have one now! In less two years I’ve spent over 6k in parts, labor! More than car is worth! I’ve replaced literally everything under the hood now almost! Down to wheel bearings now. This is insane !
Yep Fiats used to rust badly, but they resolved the problem in the 90's. Completely different car today. They are currently building some really high quality cars.
its super fun imagining the fact my Fiat was built in that same factory just a month after this video was filmed!
I had a 2006 Mini Cooper. It was the biggest piece of crap I ever owned. Had trouble every month I had it. Got rid of it after 6 months of hell. I now have a 2013 Fiat Abarth. It is reliable and not one problem and fun to drive.
The scary thing about it, is that they're both related to Chrysler. I have a 2012 Fiat Pop. Bought it used, no problems so far, and it's a blast to drive!
No, the Mini Cooper had a engine related to the neon engine but everything else was BMW.
Look at all of those beautiful cars!
love my 500 turbo. fun car. destroyed the oil cooler somehow but it was -20 out
lots of respect to the peeps making these along side the robots. much respect to the programmers of the robots.
I really like my 2013 Abarth.
It's had a few issues here and there, but the dealership handled everything under warranty, without so much as a flinch.
The car is a blast to drive, both on and off the track.
Past Issues with the car:
1.) Needed a reflash of the PROM in the first 5000 mi. (Factory Advisory Bulletin). Took 30min in and out. Car ran even better afterwards. No charge.- Done.
2.) Window mechanism began clicking at the end of full open. That is warning that the cable pulley is going. If you hear it, get it fixed before the thing lets go and necessitates a whole new regulator. They know about the problem, and the dealership should take care of it. It's a quick fix if you catch it before it goes completely, it's fast and easy.
3.) Mine was one of very few that ate its turbo bearing within 5000mi. It was a defective batch of AR turbos. (That's not Fiat's fault.) Dealership handled whole thing- New turbo, intercoolers, and tubing. No charge. Three days, because one tube was back ordered from out of state. No problem since.
4.) Painted panel of sunroof assembly, above the windshield (you can see one being installed in the video above), chipped and peeled. Again, a known problem on the darker cars. Dealership repainted. No charge. Looks perfect.
5.) Chrome plating on some plastic emblems and one door handle bubbled and peeled. What can I say(?), Arizona sun is deadly. Dealership replaced. No charge.
6.) Rear windshield wiper refused to automatically "park" in the down position. Dealership fixed it. Worked for awhile, then resumed need to park it manually by timing the shut-off. I don't care. It almost never flippin' rains here anyway, and even when it does, I don't use the rear wiper.
The car has no rattles. There is a small amount of torque steer only under hard acceleration, but it is very slight. As the cabin seals have dried slightly over time, there has been some mild increase in wind noise, but, as I said, AZ sun is deadly.
Things that could be better(IMHO)-
1.) I wish that the car had a manual 6 speed option with a higher overdrive. AZ interstates are high-speed for loooong distances, and I hate doing 3500-3800 RPM continuously for hours on end when it's simply not necessary.
2.) The 10 gal gas tank is too small.
It's an overly bassy POS, with poor mid and high-range clarity and Dr. Dre should be ashamed of himself for putting his name on it.
All of that said- It has always started and driven, even when the turbo went. Completely dependable and a really fun daily driver. Love the car.
Thanks for the run down, helps others a lot..besides the turbo and reflash looks like not much else could sit you on the side of the road yelling SHITBOX Lemon..so you have the Diesel model?
2017 Abarth 500
You built me a great one!!.
Wisconsin,United States of America.
Just purchased an Abarth...Gracias Toluca, Mexico.
My Abarth is Mexican hehe.. Nice work muchachos.! Gracias from Chicago.

The Sebring is made in Stearling Heights, In touca made the Dodge Journey. But both plants are very similar, SH is a little bit more autmatizated.
Hell of a difference between working in the plant, and designing the plant and workstations.
It's around 7,000 people all over Mexico. Unfortunately (or luckily) automotive plants are now always below a maximum of 4-5k workers. A 6,000 plant is considered huge nowadays

I know these cars aren't exactly "top-notch" but I think that for their price range they are pretty good AND most of all, good looking! ;)
I have one, and Im really happy about it. its a impressive Car!!!
Dunno if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend recently :)
@Kendrick Jadiel yea, have been using Instaflixxer for years myself :D
Just hope you do not get taken out by a Ford 350, you will be toast.
No the VW Beetle was made in a VW plant. More precisely the assembly was made (and is still made if we speak about the new model) in Puebla
I wonder how many 500s come out of that huge roll of metal.
Amazing!! Would love to be there and experience the process from A-Z

5:00 They use the same assembling platforms for the Freemont!:)
Matt, I noticed Dodge Journeys and Fiat Freemonts (pretty much the same car with different engines and different badges).
It's Toluca, Mexico. But, for instance, this is the standard also in Europe: glasses are mandatory just for some activities.

I have the fiat sport 500 2015 and I love it ... the only problem I have is the antenna and a part that is mounted on the bodywork but is part of the drawing of the window ... the rubber falls apart ... I have already had than change it twice ...😔
They are selling like crazy here.. just got one myself!
2013 Griso with everything...58k...tight as a drum...no similar problems reported by ANYONE in my club...so much for "almost everyone".
nsmsam , all cars will develop rattles but they are very easy to fix.
A Toyota with problems? Impossible! Must be the suppliers issue.
Gracias.
tell me about it....I have a 91 Dodge Shadow Convertible that Ive restored with a 2.5 turbo which was the last car that I bought new and prices have really jumped...no wonder loans are for 5 years or more now
@70noipmahc Wait, this is Factory Plant just for North American market. To lower costs production is in the Chrysler Factory in Mexico. But if you buy a Fiat 500 in Europe it is Made in Italy.

Hi there greetings from Mexico
They use double galvanized 22μm steel!
Is that god or bad?
Good!
At 6:47 the pole in the middle with the green color in the middle kind of looks like a vaping pen
thats the dodge Journey thats being built along side the 500

There's a few. A large dealer in Fayetteville AR sells Fiats. Number will probably increase as Fiat puts their mark on Chrysler.
No I live in the US...Houston....I guess I need to change my status...I did use to live in Poland....but Im buying my Abarth 500 from Northside Fiat in the Woodlands, Texas. After all is said and done it'll be around $28K...then Im having some aftermarket stuff done to it
They used to be junk, but nowadays they are miles better. Still not perfect, though, but a thousand million times better than in the ol' dark days.
Is this the same plant that used to make VW Beetles?
Transmission is from Italy, says so on my old window sticker.
@@mr2981 : Thanks. Mine works well.
I have a 1982 Fiat and it is working like a new car so if you dont like fiat go away
Where do they add this "new car smell"?
Greetings from italy to the mexican allies :D
Sono contento della Fiat 500 made in Italia bella veramnte!!!
Nice to know. The first Italian car that ISN'T hand built lol
08:03 - 08:06
PLANTA ENSAMBLE: Revisión de suspensión en Línea Final.
I live in the 14 km road to Toluca, then I live near this plant.
hang on, Toluca is in spain right ? i thought this car was made in Poland ?
Mexico should have much less poverty. They make a lot of things there.
3:40 O.O They've captured a transformer
