I'm not sure if they're doing a call back reference or homage nod to the actor's role in QB or he could be talking about something else entirely. im so glad to have played quantum break even though people said it wasnt canon... CAUSE IT CLEARLY IS and having understood the part of the plot from quantum break helped me appreciate the door and breaker connection
Hatch/Door sees Joyce/Breaker (whom is a “Shifter” like himself and even Wake and Faden/Wilder) as “Unwilling Disciples” in his grand plan. Hatch revealed what his plan is in Quantum Break, and if you play QB directly after finishing AW2 you will be able to make the connections very easily. Hatch/Door is a “Shifter” whom lives in a state of Quantum Superposition and exists everywhere and nowhere at once. There’s a version of a shifter in every universe/reality and only a select few like himself are aware of this and can manipulate it to their own ends. Wake/Faden(Wilder), Joyce(Breaker) are all Shifters whom have the ability to go into different realities but are not fully aware of their capabilities as Door/Hatch is himself. Its even clued in Quantum Break that Martin Hatch isn’t even Door’s real name, it’s just an Alias he uses while working with Monarch and Serene (whom he sees as a threat). He wants Wake, Faden/Wilder, and Joyce/Breaker as allies and will do whatever it is to get them to his side, even if he has to manipulate them like he is doing to Breaker by trapping him into the Dark Place. By doing so he is trying to wake Breaker/Joyce up to realize his full potential. His daughter is also a shifter and is why she is able to to “see” every possibility as a “Seer” in Alan Wake 2. Tor and Odin are shifters as well, and so is Ahti as they can exist in multiple universes as different versions of themselves. Theres a readable in AW2 that explains how Odin lives, dies, and is reincarnated over and over again. Tor and Odin also live in a state of super position and is also why they themselves can manipulate realities. It all makes sense. Remedy’s writers and Sam Lake are geniuses when it comes to building interconnected worlds.
They can't use the same names, but the fun little nod with Hatch from (QB) and Door (AW) ... Hatch.... Door... bruh... a Door is a Hatch and vice versa...
Quantum Break and Alan Wake / Control exist in _parallel_ universes from one another -- Warlin Door and Martin Hatch obviously being the same person is essentially Remedy confirming that for us. Unlike Wilder/Faden and Joyce/Breaker, Hatch/Door is the same person in these two stories, not two parallel-universe variants of a person. That's a narratively plausible presumption because being able to travel between parallel-universes is an established ability Hatch/Door possesses. But the thing is we can just as logically imagine that our own IRL universe, in which we are playing games depicting these fictional universes, is itself a parallel universe to these universes. Because with the idea of infinite realities posited by string theory, every fiction will be non-fiction _somewhere._ Regardless... Quantum Break is a dead IP. Microsoft owns it, so Remedy can't make it part of the 'Remedy Connected Universe.' Hatch cameoing as Door in Alan Wake 2 is essentially just Remedy paying homage to an IP they wish they could've continued.
@azoth7756 they're doppelgangers. As highlighted in Time Breaker, Door is punishing all the doppelgangers for Joyce's actions even though only a handful of them even know of his existence.
