If anything the reference to Exodus is indeed an easter egg to X. But the Earthlife Colonization Project as it relates to the greater Xeno series expands upon how humanity survived the destruction of Earth, when Neo Jerusalem was founded, and the origins of the Pilgrimage and Immigrant fleets.

One thing I should mention is that the only reason N joins the party is because he has no choice but to because Alpha endangers the world, which means he endangers Moebius. Alpha wants to destroy the world and leave it behind for a newer and better world without pain and suffering, while Z wants the world to be forever stuck in time so that nothing changes. Alpha interrupts the cycle the Moebius created and so it would make much more sense for N to join Mathew and the others to defeat Alpha. Their goals simply align. This is the whole reason Shulk and Rex were able to form a compact with Z and the Moebius.
My turbonerd headcanon noah's last name is also vandham thats where matthew gets the name. (Maybe hes the kid of the xenoblade 1 vandham even if they mistranslated the name? In XC1 he's a gag character named Vangarre i think but hes supposed to be the vandham of xc1)

I feel bad for those who at first thought X got connected to 1-3. While X, Gear, and Saga all got mentions, Saga is the only game that seems to be actually connected with the more obvious references, thanks in the credits and copyright, and the end credit scene. If Saga is directly connected, then X can't be because of the alien problem. Although I doubt X has no connection to 1-3 but it seems Saga is more direct.
Z may not be Klaus or Zanza but he definitely does an incredibly similar thing to Zanza by using the lives of the world as his sustenance and all other moebius are essentially the telethia. Also if I remember right, the white whale held 20 million people in the one ship. The radio was talking about multiple ships only totalling to 10 million from all of them. So it is not an X connection, especially since I think Project Exodus was a Xenosaga thing first, not an X thing.

We didn't see a scene of origin smashing anything. It's just similar framing to the scene of what would happen if the worlds collided.
