I recently picked up a bluetooth system and noticed it actually made my helmet louder by removing the foam that was in the speaker cutouts. This is a genius idea and I just ordered these and am looking forward to trying this out! Thank you so much.

I have an AGV K6 that is plagued with wind noise on my 22 GSXS1000GT. I can hear conversation up to about 57 mph and I have noise cancelling earplug in. I've been told carbon fiber helmets are louder, but it was tested by Champion helmets as one of the quietest. I will receive these today and am crossing my fingers. I have the Cardo packtalk black and tried the newer version before that and they don't get loud enough, which tells you my ambient noise is too high. I have near perfect hearing.
Great video! I ordered the speaker pads after the video. I have an LS2 Rapid, and this should def be whata needed for wind noise, and alao, help with the music being a bit better in clarity.
I prefer the quiet ride helmets. They have ear cups with air bladders behind them. Once you put the helmet on and get the ear muffs over your ears, you pump up the air bladder for a custom fit. As i have tinnitus this is a great help. I also use earplugs in combination with it. Really quiet. They come with speakers. You can also just buy a kit for your existing helmet.
Just found out that if you pass the shockwave speakers through the chin strap holes of the padding, there’s a small spot you can put it. Then there’s no padding blocking the speakers and it’s just right into your ear holes. Or at least for the Atlas 4.0 helmet.

Good info. I was wondering how to avoid doggie ears. We both have loud helmets...I just use ear plugs when riding alone, so this is a great alternative to using earplugs.

I want to get an Icon Airflite helmet and your video makes me hopeful of quieting what most say is a loud helmet. To make sure I'm understanding, after you attach the cups to the speakers, you put them in and then put all the padding back over them how you would normally?
Well the GTAir2 is ridiculously loud in my opinion compared to the GTAir 1. I think Shoei got it wrong on their latest (still good, but went backwards lol)
Had the Impaler 2.0 before crash, wasn't loud for me an that was speeds upto 70mph, even on my mates 400cc 90mph wasnt too loud either, plus id rather hear a car creaping up behind me
I can still hear everything around me. I play my music at a very low volume and can still hear the ambient noises around me. Good mix. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it.
@@ChopperFett hi mate, just an update on the ear pads. I did the mod to my helmet after I'd recorded the helmet review which went live today. In it I said about how the wind noise was bad on the ls2. I have the HD version of the HJC i90 with the sena 10b installed. I’m gonna try and place the pads under the thin cloth attached to the cheek pads but over the speakers. hopefully it works. I purchased the sena so I can enjoy sone tunes to and from work. but never dawned on me that the music would be competing with wind noise. Can’t even tell what song is playing over 70 MPh. Hope this works!!
Hahah thank you. So funny story is they saw this and the 4.0 incorporates some of this into their helmet. They even provide ear pads to essentially do the same thing.

Good video man! Sena has a different width's of pads that can bring the speakers out closer to your ear. I tried it on my trip to Sturgis and my ears were killing me! I think it was because of the actual speaker housing hitting my ear. After watching this video though I'm going to try your method out and maybe that will help! Thanks for sharing!
Which Ruroc do you have? I have the 4.0 and there is no way that I can get those pads between the speaker and the cheek/headliner. I could not get the liner to snap back into the helmet with anything thicker than about 1/3 the size of that addition.
Hey there. This video was made back when the 2 and 3 were out. I have not done this to my 4.0 as like you said, there ain’t much room in there. That said the 4.0 sounds like the 3.0 with the mod done.
I don't think I could make that work on my HJC F70. I have the HD Sena speakers in mine and even just those thin speakers are enough to put pressure on my ear (I have to reach in and fix my ear anytime I put the helmet on). Clever solution though 👍
Had the hjc too with speakers and it hurt. Got a shoei gt air2 now and has a big gap with air noise seeming louder since foam disc pads pulled out. Might try spacers or this method.
Good ole fashion super glue so you have to be fully committed. They do make ones now that slip over. I ordered them from Amazon Europe and they have done the trick.
Maybe… I know when I had the gtair2 it felt pretty snug as well. If you feel like there is a good gap between your ear and the helmet I’d say it could work
If I wear a thin balaclava, that's enough material to make it way too hard to get the helmet on. My one helmet is impossible to get on. I have several helmets and it's the same for all. Not silk, but regular t shirt thickness.
I was going to ask did the guards rub on your ears and get uncofortable on longer trips? but the balaclva would probably ease this issue. Nice solution to making the helmet quieter.
Yea the gaiter def relieves any tightness. I got another one from Ruroc for cold weather thst goes over the mouth and ears and it worked the same on a 40 degree Fahrenheit day.
It does help with the audio quite a bit too. The foreshadowed episode is only half way done and been working on it for two months. Takes a lot of time and testing loo
I haven’t felt any discomfort other putting the helmet on itself being a little harder. Once it’s on, it’s not pressing against my ears fully, it’s reducing the amount of open space inside the helmet.
