Malong - how to use it in different ways

The malong is a traditional Filipino-Bangsamoro wraparound skirt that is rectangular or tube-shaped and has a variety of okir or geometric patterns. Men and women from the many ethnic groups who live on the mainland of Mindanao and in some of the Sulu Archipelago traditionally dress in the malong. With belts made of braided material or other pieces of cloth, or they are knotted over one shoulder, they are wrapped around at the waist or chest height and fastened by tucked ends. They were traditionally hand-woven, and each ethnic group typically had its own distinctive pattern. Modern malong, on the other hand, are typically imported or even machine-made, with patterns that resemble the conventional regional designs.
