    Excellent performance from Bolshoi!
“Anna was born in Moscow.” “In 2004, at the age of 19, she danced Odette-Odile for the first time.” (Quoted from “Anna’s Biography of Bolshoi). She is one of principal dancer in Bolshoi.

Anna is very elegant ballerina and they look perfectly regal with Jacopo.
although sometimes her upper body freezes a bit, I like her style.

Just got a note from the RB that the perf I have tickets for had a cast change (to Jacopo from Reece Clarke). He's got my vote! But did the tempo on this seem extremely slow to anyone else? And didn't some of the male choreo in the coda get cut?

what did you think ? I thought he did very well , for learning the entire role in 2 weeks , perhaps lacking in nuance and interpretation , but sure made up for all that in very elegant dancing... extremely nervous in the first act .. but gained his confidence the minute he met Nella .. the RB sure had a plague of injuries this season - not sure if that special sports room is working , - just wish they had more Male dancers like Jacopo -

@@Royalbrettania I think they traded up, as Reese Clarke, a soloist, is the danseur replaced. Were you there? The balcony was exquisite. I hadn't thought Nela's exceptional technique would matter with a part like Julie (as opposed to a role like Odette/Odile) but oh, yes, it did. Plus she's such a great dramatic ballerina.

@@minissa2009 I was there indeed ! agreed they traded up but only one rung , Jacopo is still First soloist , The balcony was exquisite ... like I said I only found him a bit nervous in the first couple of crowd scenes ... however , the friends and I all agreed that even though he was a bit nervous , he was so sweet and earnest that it made it , yes Nella was amazing ... I still think of the beauty of her turns in arabesque in her act 1 variation ... I'm going to see her again in October in Manon, except they have cast her with Roberto Bolle, I would have been much more excited about this 5 years ago , perhaps I am being ageist ? wish they would invite Jacopo back with a lot more rehearsal time instead - are You going to see him at all when the Bolshoi is at ROH ?

@@Royalbrettania Extremely jealous of your proximity. No, we live in US and were traveling and detoured to London specifically to see the RB in their home court. Wish I could have stayed forever! I love your reference to "the friends and I." When I lived in the New York area, I had a "the friends and I" group that went to *everything*. We probably should have been able to claim our ballet tickets as a charitable tax deduction, we went so often! Even though he's getting a little older, I think Bolle is still awfully good and would love to see him as De Grieux. There's a full vid of him doing the MacMillan R&J at La Scala with Misty Copeland. I wish the people who are raving about her on that comment thread had a chance to see Nela in action in the same role to see what real technique and real acting look like. We have a local company that's pretty good but don't get much from outside, so God bless YT and Fathom Events. I think I know more about what's going on and who dances what and with whom at RB and the Russian companies than I do about what's going on down the street at Ballet West! Good connecting with other literate fans!

@@minissa2009 oh no I don't live in the UK. .. I live in Israel and we don't have any decent classical ballet here or anywhere else in the Middle East for that matter . . .. I'm fortunate that my sister lives in London and so I can stay with her a couple of times a year and go to the ballet - I work shifts in a factory and have to plan carefully what I go see , so I can't always be as selective on what casts I go see ... I would really love to one day go to either the Bolshoi or Maryiinsky. . But I can't figure out how to plan a trip as they release performance dates quite late ... like I just looked now and their website only goes up to the middle of August 😕
