Oh, I see what you mean. You're talking about when they would come back from the commercial breaks/Local on the 8s segments. I was thinking about the "Eye of the Storm" theme that they started using with Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

Though before Eye on the Storm, the 2004 tropical update theme was used as a storm alert theme. That was a mouthful lol.

I can NOT thank you enough for uploading this!!!! I have looked for nearly 14 years for a clip of Doug Granville's song "Playing in the Cold" and that search has finally ended today. That's the song that played at 10:26. Chazz had a clip of this song as well in one of this videos but that clip has been lost. The audio quality is superb - it's as if you uploaded this yesterday. That was my favorite song from that playlist and I have desperately looked for years here on UA-cam for that song. Thanks so much!!!
I didn't know Keith Westerlage was with The Weather Channel as late as 2005 during Hurricane Dennis. Even Dennis Smith (who was also one of the original TWC OCMs) appeared as late as Hurricane Wilma later that October during the 2005 hurricane season. I wonder if they both retired?
Dennis Smith was laid off shortly after the NBC acquisition in 2008. In the months leading to that he was a regular on the weather.com forecasts. Keith was the OCM supervisor by this point but would still serve as a fill in from time to time as a last resort if no one else was available.

By process of elimination that song is "Playing in the Cold" by Doug Granville. I've reached out to him several times about this song to no avail unfortunately.

I'm commenting on this because of Helene. Had Helene gone a little more to the west and struck Pensacola with the eyewall, she would've been EXACTLY like Dennis' track. I actually think Helene was an enhanced Dennis.
