I grew up loving box braids and wore them all the time. That was before weaves were accessible and wigs were really for older women or women with alopecia. (Then weaves had me in a chokehold for a while. I still grew out my hair but kept it hidden. I am locked now) I imagine box braids aren’t seen a “classy” now that everyone has access to weaves/wigs.
Every style you showed (including yours) is gorgeous and elegant. I love seeing the creativity and SKILL displayed with braids, even more so since learning how much time and money it can take to achieve. Agree with you 10000% - our looks, hair, everything, is like a scrapbook handed down by our ancestors, and we're meant to have it. ❤
I'm hispanic and I want box braids but I don't want people mad at me for culture appropriation it's beautiful I use to watch moesha and thought wow she looks so beautiful ❤ but I could never wear braids without someone thinking I'm trying to be someone else 😕 it's not a messy hairstyles it's something that should be considered expensive it takes time and work and patience to get them and they are expensive
