I am astounded how organized and well-thought out they structure a field trip in Japan. And I am assuming all the parents are very conscientious about making sure the list is followed and and items are included and their child is prepared. No kids with forgotten lunches, hats, water, etc. there! And even the wash cloth! No paper towels, wet wipes….better for the environment. Just incredible how smart everything seems.
The difference between Japanese and American education is respect, expectation and wonderful life skills.
You find those over-detailed instructions everywhere in Japan, and trust me, they get annoying time to time :D
Japanese culture really does ‘cover everything’. All the viral videos of ‘a standard Japanese home’ I think are true. I love all the excessive notes and the hand towels, wet towel and even the individual picnic blanket.
Joshua looks like he is having a lot of fun before he leaves!
I'm sure he had a great time with his friends, even if the meatball sauce did get on his clothes.
Ruth is a professional mother who is never at a loss for Japanese-style excursion preparations.😁
I can feel the richness of your vocabulary in the way your children correctly point out the many Japanese-English names for the things you call them.😅
Mama-chan, you did a great job!
What a fun day for Joshua
Field trips are for sure the highlight of my elementary school days. Some nights I cant sleep in anticipation for the next day 😂
😊
I think so
Man, the kids are growing up so fast. Must be bittersweet for you guys.
Like those TV shows we loved as kids but then the actors got older.
Yes! I wish I could slow time! But since I can’t, I try to take advantage of each moment!
I accidentally came across this channel. Who knew it would be a defining moment for me. I never thought I would find a family vlogger who does it right and you all do. No only that over the past 3 weeks I have binged watch every episode from day one and I started following Life in Japan and Paz Church. I am proud to stay I was present at the last church service and loved it and have it set to my Alexa so I don’t miss church every week. I am on day 14 of Duolingo learning Japanese. I wanted to say our content has had a positive mark on this mom of 8 grown kiddos, with MS who lives in Indiana. Thank You so much. A positive uplifting family vlogging channel the world needs more of this. Thank you ! Prayers for your entire family and the entire ministry. Hope to one day attend Paz church in person. Thank You!
Wow - thanks so much for your comment! I'm so glad to hear this.
Finally caught up with all the videos started with the first one. Have enjoyed them all! What a gift you are giving your children to grow up in another culture. God bless all of you.
Japan is a pretty amazing place to grow up :)
My school is having a field trip very soon and as a teacher, I'm so grateful for this video to get ideas for what my students should pack. We will be going to a science museum, and it'll be the first time the school might have a picnic outside.
And it was great you got to 'spy' on Joshua's field trip. I wanted to know what happened in school trips (like the twins ski trip)
Thank you for this informative video !
I still remember my first grade field trip to the zoo (1964). The teacher made us hold hands one boy one girl as we followed her two by two around the zoo. I held Carol P's hand and I had a crush on her ever since. Some things never change. I now live in a town which has the same town name as that zoo. Funny what we remember. What will Joshua remember I wonder?
What fun memories!
I'm glad Joshua had a great time at the zoo! Looking forward to seeing how Sarah will get ready for her field trip! 😁
The zoo changed since when I was there a long time ago. Thanks for bring memories back when I lived in Japan with my family. Thank-you for your kindness and sharing your family in Japan. Bless you and your magnificent family!🙏❤️⭐️👏👍🙌
Thank you!
memory for kids yes but memory for parents . please enjoy life with kids in Japan🇯🇵
I did same thing 20 years ago.
Thank you, mama -chan.
And I want to say to myself too, you did good job
The level of organisation and preparedness regarding field trips in Japan is amazing. I encountered groups of students in many places during my last Japan holiday, always diligently obeserving and making notes. This epsiode provided an insightful behind the scenes, thank you!
That looked like a very fun day for Joshua!
So cool! 20 to 30 years ago, teachers at elementary escolar used to give kids budget limit for snack, goodies only up to $5, etc.
How to optimize goodies assortment within the given budget was a good training for adulthood 😊
Sounds like he had a fun day! I didn't go to the zoo with a school until high school! But the best field trip i remember was with the Girl Scouts, rather than school. We went to the Kentucky Horse Park. It was a sea of green there that day from all the Girl Scout troops. They must've come from all over the state! It was a lot of fun. Even the bus ride was fun.
Good memories!
Awww that was so cute and fun to watch! So happy Joshua enjoyed his trip!!
I love seeing the kids play, do homework, etc. reminds me of the when I was in school and how excited I would get.
I am also that mother, Ruth! I always see my kids off! Even though they're all grown up!
❤️
What a bustling household! Thank you for sharing your adventures 🥳❤️❤️❤️
It’s so interesting to see how other cultures do things! Thanks for a great video!❤🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve been binge watching. I’ve watched almost every episode! I was excited to see this new video, first thing this morning! Going to watch, NOW!
Yay! Thank you! Any favorite episodes so far?
What a cool field trip Joshua had!
very nice family❤
=)
Obrigado!!
Mama chan `s scene when she was readying to make Bento , that scene was the same scene as my childhood . yes, my mother was doing the same thing as Mama chan`s. for me, it was very great memorry. thank you for showing nice vide .
Thanks for sharing!
I never raised kids in Japan but I constantly hear from parents there that it’s like having a second job just getting them ready for school every day. I believe it, kudos to you all for everything you do 👏🏻
That's about right!
Good job mama chan😂🎉Sarha very good❤
I've knowen the word of field trip (Ensoku). I think Japanese automn is the best season of field trip. (On the other hand, Japanese summer is dangerous season for going out, because Japanese summer is terrible hot & humuid. )
All mothers in the world are hard worker, because they make lots of works for their childre and family.
By the way, is BENTO common word in the US, too ?
love your videos, cheers from zürich, switzerland
My great grandparents came from Switzerland! I would love to get there someday :)
A lovely chance for Joshua to see the wonders of God`s creation. I love walking around zoos, especially Paignton zoo, Devon, England
I love your videos
i am a joshua fan it's the best
I think it’s “Life where I’m from” that has a great video on trash in Japan!
Yes! It's such a big part of life here!
You've grown!
I am surprised that they still used the term junior high school in Japan. Here in US we use the term middle School now. And middle school is 6-8 grades. While high school is 9- 12 grades. That changes happened in the 1990s when I was in high school.
It's just the way we translated it - a better translation would probably be middle school, and here it's 7-9 and then high school is 10-12.
(Hey kids time to test your dad and mom kanji quick.)
みなさん賛成ですが?(start from first grade kanji)
Looks more like he's off on a hiking adventure, than a trip to the zoo. 😆
Ha ha! That zoo feels like a hiking trip, with so many hills and trails through the woods!
@@LIJnot surprised. 🙂
Better to have an apple with skin since it is the most nutritious part. When Josha-kun gets a bit older he will surely love to take it with skin (hopefully). Some people might think it strange to see mama-chan pours tap water into the bottle for drinking if they do not know its drinkable in Japan.
I only feed them apple with skin at home. 😂
Japanese apples in general are not made to be eaten with skin. Their skin is much thicker and harder , so we usually eat peeled apples except for the skin used for decorative cut.
Skin of grapes here is also very thick. I love Japanese fruits, but I miss grapes and apples with thinner eatable skin that I often had in the US.
love Field trip when I was a kids. I love bento and what on the bento taste so good. When I was in elementary did go to Field trip. I didn’t know that Japanese people mean kids not eat the apple skin. When I was in middle we still have teacher with us. That is so weird that you can’t talk to your friends because you will hold the group. Japanese garbage separation is different than America garbage separation. Japanese School for getting ready for a field trip is so different than from American field trip mean the what to bring on the trip. Also in Japanese school to wear a red or white hat in America you don’t wear a red or white hat. We don’t bring a bag pack to a field trip in elementary school. I remember the video when you guys went to the zoo. Sarah did got for the outdo. Now I’m all catch of your guys videos because two week I got COVID so i didn’t watch your guys videos but now I’m free from COVID. The three weeks ago I did watch but I watch yesterday. Can’t wait for your guys videos tomorrow.
That Black Thunder Bar looks and sounds tasty. MMMM
Hi from Nashville, TN USA
Music city!
In Germany: Your teacher does not care if you even come unprepaired with not even a bag
hi from 🇲🇽
Hello 👋
Do any parents just tap out and flake like in the U.S.? What would happen if they did? The culture of responsibility and pride in oneself is just so different in Japan, it seems. We homeschool here in the US, but I just cannot imagine any public school being able to pull off one iota of the things the Japanese schools seem to do flawlessly.
Are there other Americans that go to school with Joshua? I’m new and have a million questions!😊
Well, his sister and cousin go to the same school but they are the only westerners!
Just our cousins Izy that we know of. There are other international students, but by in large it is mostly Japanese.
Parents that actually put some time and thought into their children's needs that is lacking back in the US !
❤
💚
What a fun field trip! I went to the Tama Zoo on a field trip ,too, MANY many years ago. lol Also, I think you meant ryukkusakku instead of yukusaku. It's basically rucksack said in Japanese.
Wow cool! Yes indeed- thanks!
You can also soak them in orange juice. 😊
