- Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (often referred to simply as Saturday Night Takeaway) is a British television variety show presented and executively produced by Ant & Dec. The show was first broadcast on 8 June 2002 on ITV. It is broadcast live from The London Studios on the South Bank. The format was heavily influenced by previous Saturday night light entertainment shows (most notably Noel's House Party and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush)[citation needed], while individual items often pay homage to Saturday night TV of the past (such as Opportunity Knocks).
On 10 September 2005, ITV had a programme listing the best 50 shows in ITV's 50 years being on air. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway came second, beaten only by Coronation Street. From its launch in 2002, the show was unbeaten for four series in its timeslot until scheduled against Doctor Who on BBC One in March 2005. The show entered hiatus in 2010 after its ninth series to allow Ant & Dec to launch family game shows Ant & Dec's Push the Button and Red or Black?. However, in November 2011, it was announced that Saturday Night Takeaway would return in early 2013. After winning the Award for Best Presenters at the 18th National Television Awards on 23 January 2013, Ant & Dec announced that the show would return on 23 February 2013.An official Saturday Night Takeaway iOS app for iPod, iPhone and iPad was released on 15 February 2013.
Riverdance is a theatrical show consisting of traditional Irish stepdancing, known for its rapid leg movements while body and arms are kept largely stationary. It originated as an interval performance during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, a moment that is considered a significant watershed in Irish culture.[1] Riverdance is, in summary form, the story of the Irish culture and of the Irish immigration to America.

Isabella Smith lovelly🍀!❤️😘
The piece used is a part of 'Riverdance' by Bill Whelan. The original is a tad longer in the beginning and the true original features 'Cloudsong' at the beginning. From this, Riverdance as a complete show started ;)
Reel around the sun is my favourite piece in the entire act❤️
We'll done boys! Great attempt at Irish dancing.
To anyone saying Dec already knew how to Irish dance: you're wrong. He knew very very little and he and Ant practised a looot before doing this. In a video Dec even said that it was very difficult to learn . You can find the video when they are rehearsing for this on yputube.
And if you look closely you will notice that they are practicing the Riverdance.

fantastic but who else got annoyed that the audience were clapping out of beat at the beginning
i got annoyed at them clapping at all
Nidhi Mehta that is the what the majority of us Irish are like, we'll always tap or clap away to the beat 😂 our music is good and gives of a good vibe. Very proud to be Irish when we've talent like that 👏
Fair play to them! At least they didn't take the piss, but instead they had a good decent go at it! I was an Iriah dancer once upon a time and I'm actually very impressed. Well done lads!
Love the ending
