Alanis is on a higher plane than just about anyone. The tremendous insight and wisdom that she has and the eloquence with which she speaks just blows my mind.
Alanis is a lot like Phil Anselmo. When she talks, people listen. I'm happy for her and her family, as she kept asking for in her songs, I think she's found the finish line. She seems happy, and that makes me happy.
I'd love to have a conversation with her. Her interviews inspire me even more than her music. A book. THAT would be awesome. She has such an easy way with words. For anyone who got lost when she started talking about child development, she was saying she wished the stages of development were common knowledge in our culture and that babies/children would be allowed to progress through those stages at a natural pace. She's right. The needs of children are definitely not a priority in our culture. Example: no laws regarding maternity leave in the US. In Sweden, mothers get two years of paid maternity leave and fathers get one year of paid paternity leave. (Only for three children max. Seems fair enough, because otherwise people may continue being on maternity/paternity leave indefinitely.) What a concept. So counter to our workaholic tendencies in the US. It's in the best interest of the parents, the child, and in turn, the society as whole--- To have healthy, thriving, confident children.
What a chance Swedish people have! They probably have prepared everything to afford such a thing . They seem to have understood everything about parenting.
Alanis you are so right about breastfeeding till the baby decides when he or she are done. My girls weaned themselves. I had enjoyed the bonding so much that I kinda wanted to cry when my youngest fed for like two minutes and was turning away. After that she no longer wanted to.
"Autobiographical transparency value". The is impressive. Would love to sit in a room and just listen to Alanis and Ashley Judd have a conversation. Ashley uses great words, and sentences also.
It's really sad that the media only prefers to play Alanis' "popular" songs and make out that Jagged Little Pill is the only successful album she's had (commercially yes, but it's not her best lyrically and musically)...this happens all too often. But I'm happy that they're at least mentioned her new album and let Alanis be open and candid :)
Agreed! My favourite albums of hers is "Flavors of Entanglement" and "So-called Chaos", with the non mainstream songs being my go to songs, her lyrics in both albums are so much more relatable to me than "Jagged Little Pill" (I enjoy the album but I find more of a connection with the other 2)
Also "Feast on Scraps". Whenever I a experiencing a bad time with BPD I turn to Alanis' cathartic and very publicly honest songs such as "Tapes", "Fear of Bliss", "One" and "Sorry 2 Myself", her music has personally helped healing.
Wtf, the interviewer asked how is it to be a mother to this "20 YEAR OLD angel???" .....and the voice over at 00:48 called her husband Mario Treadwell....it's Treadway. Great Journalism, ABC "News"
What's "ironic" about this is how her postpartum depression began with her first child yet still CHOSE to breed yet a couple of other babies when she could have chosen not to go further down that road. I've been a massive fan of hers for years, her music has helped and inspired me tremendously but all this baby business coming from her is... puzzling, to say the least. Thank you disillusionment? One might say so...
1:43 Her son's 20 years old? Alanis had him when she was very young, huh? 🤔 And some people still say it's hard to manage motherhood and a successful career! 😂
I am, depression is not the blues; it’s so much more than that!! I’ve actually done my research on it and it’s not something to be taken lightly!! Depression can kill!!!
The introduction saying that she suffered "baby blues" is very misinformative. Depression during pregnancy is divided into 3 categories, baby blues being the first on the scale and the less serious as it is just a temporary sad or anxious feeling that is actually normal because of the hormones and fears pregnancy can inflict. Postpartum depression and psychosis are the other 2 categories and completely diferent monsters.
Thank you for saying exactly what I was thinking. Baby blues and Postpartum Depression are NOT the same. I almost felt mad watching this; the writers downplayed what Postpartum Depression truly is.
I know how you felt!! It makes me angry when people tell these women that they are just having baby blues or when they tell people with depression "I was depressed once". People keep lightening the subject it's no wonder victims are left with shame
You should not conflate baby blues with postpartum depression. One is hormonal and occurs in almost 90% of the population and the other is a mood disorder occuring in 1 in 7 women, possibly as much as 1 in 5.
At "20 year old" it's time to let go of momma's teet. Even if it's Alanis'. LOL! Great interview but I had to seize the troll opportunity of the interviewer's mistake. Innocent enough. :)
Alanis is on a higher plane than just about anyone. The tremendous insight and wisdom that she has and the eloquence with which she speaks just blows my mind.
she also has a great deep voice and excellent diction.
I wish to have my words roll off my tongue someday, as good as Alanis does. Great speaker.
*****
you cant become another astrological sign...
She never ceases to make us proud.
Alanis is naturally gorgeous and oh so talented and articulate. It wouldn’t be a stretch to call her a genius.

Great comment. I agree.

Alanis is amazing. I hope people understand her message.
Alanis you are so right about breastfeeding till the baby decides when he or she are done. My girls weaned themselves. I had enjoyed the bonding so much that I kinda wanted to cry when my youngest fed for like two minutes and was turning away. After that she no longer wanted to.
The interviewer didn't know 90% of what Alanis said with. "We i love that" and "so interesting". She had not a clue.
Alanis is head and shoulders above her in her answers.
Alanis talks about psychoanalysis as if she's talking about the weather... Such easiness, I love listening.
Alanis beautiful and genuine 10/10 always
Baby blues and postpartum depression are very different.
AlyssaAllDay SHES FAKING!!

Love Alanis :)
lol she said how does it feel to have a 20 year old
She's married to a white rapper? Must be a very understanding and forgiving woman.
He isnt the angry kind of rapper. Hes carving his own niche where women are respected not otherwise
this interviewer not used to intelligent dialogue and so had nothing to offer. Alanis head and shoulders above.
I grew up listening to her... Made childhood a lot more palatable 😂
20 year-old little angel.
what a great person and mom
Alanis' son is already 20? wow, time flew by
woah.... i lost her when she started talking about 'rendering the stages of development'
It's really sad that the media only prefers to play Alanis' "popular" songs and make out that Jagged Little Pill is the only successful album she's had (commercially yes, but it's not her best lyrically and musically)...this happens all too often. MY QUEEN
I envy Alanis só much when age says "I'm in a Very luxurious position economically"
shes very articulate!!
nice to hear a lady who sees breast feeding as something special and unique, not to mention it's about the most perfect food for a child.
When she talks, everything that she says is interesting and it seems like everything she says is important.
Wtf, the interviewer asked how is it to be a mother to this "20 YEAR OLD angel???" .....and the voice over at 00:48 called her husband Mario Treadwell....it's Treadway. Great Journalism, ABC "News"

Gio Simmer The interviewer meant to say 20 months. He was born on Christmas Day, 2010 so he will be turning 8 on Christmas.
Well she's 40 years old so its 100% possible she would have a 20 year old ..js
I am, depression is not the blues; it’s so much more than that!! I’ve actually done my research on it and it’s not something to be taken lightly!! Depression can kill!!!
Brooke Anderson "You have such an adorable 20 year old"

Message aux nouvelles Maman
Humaness = humanity btw
When she says

Tom Cruise knows how to treat that!
Tom Cruise is a fucking idiot.

LOL lmao i know she meant 20 month old but she messed up.

I'm just throwing this out there, but I wonder what she'd think if he grows up to join the Army and vote Republican.
