Tiny living makes so much sense for organized seniors who live alone.

truthfully i as a senior would preferr this living, its the same size as an apartment but most i seen have a washer dryer unit and i didnt see one in here unless there is a community building with machines, i just down sized to my tiny house i call it, a one bedroom house about 700 sq ft, i have full bathroom and stacking washer and dryer in that room, in the kitchen is the furnace and water heater with fridge stove and dishwasher and i cant believe how much storage i have and counter then my last home that was 3 bedroom house, but now i have to get rid of furniture that does fit in this house well, like my 5 piece sectional couch and coffee table, but my garage is bigger then the house and where i live i need the garage, but soon i wont be driving and i have seen the size of the apartments seniors are getting for what they can afford on pension, and they arent much bigger then a tiny house the only benifits is that you have more privacy in these, wish they would build something here like that i would live in one
@ What's your general location? There could be something closer than you think. Are you tied to where you live? I never had children and am getting closer to retirement. The only thing keeping us here is our parents. I'm glad to be here for them and will be until that time comes. I currently own a duplex so that my inlaws who are in their late 80's could be near yet still have privacy for all. It's a beautiful home and I love living here, but I long for the days that I don't have to worry about which room I need to tackle. I'm tired of housework! I'm glad you're enjoying your new living arrangements. Best of everything to you!
Congratulations on freeing yourself from the sticks n bricks mentality. Its great to see an older gal who Knows what she wants n makes it happen. So thrilled for you and your dogs! God bless you 🙏🏻🤗❤🐾

Penny-you’re such an inspiration! And I LOVE the stained glass, the mirror in the bathroom, pictures in the stairs-and of course, that fabulous natural pine! Lovely 🏡
Penny, your tiny house is so charming. I'm 71, and chose a toy hauler (to renovate) as my home and live in an RV park. It is the way I figured out to live tiny (without a loft) within the city limits, so I'm close to work. I too love living small, and like you, can't imagine living any other way. Can't wait to see what you do to accomplish your single floor tiny home. 🏡
Hey Penny I’m having one built without a loft by Incredible Tiny Homes in Newport TN I chose Randy Jones as my builder because they were able to incorporate my ideas into a beautiful spacious home. I love your galley kitchen and walk thru bathroom.
They'll do just about everything, option range from 16' THOW shell/kit for lowest possible pricing that starts at $15K and completed homes that start at $20K on up... and will do full custom if your budget allows... You can check out their website at incredibletinyhomes.com They also have a Facebook and UA-cam channel...
@Dill Rogerz He is awesome but, Andy Bennet has been doing similar inexpensive homes for years. Check out www.corehousingsolutions.com you will be shocked they beat out Randy Jones!
I live in Tennessee, too and have been thinking of this, especially with a downstairs bedroom- actually for when my dog gets older and can't climb to a loft.
I am in VA and still a few years away from possibly going into a tiny home. I also want one without a loft. Do you mind me asking how much yours will cost? I might contact them. thank you!
Most women are alone in their later years. Children leave. Husband leave or die. Women retire and must live on reduced income. Senior Communities with Tiny Homes are the Answer.
Not for everyone. I built a huge home so my son and his family could move in WITH me. I too am handicapped. My 20 something grand kids live here also. The 5 of us do just great. Everyone in the house works except me. It's 15,000 sq ft. 2 story. My living area is the size of a small house. I designed it to make sure everyone has their own space. There are times that we don't see each other for days. My sons suite is the size of a 1 br apartment. We share a kitchen, dining room, living room and movie theater. I would never want to go to a nursing home. In this house, I never have to worry about it.
@@josavo6377 You are so blessed to have a supportive family.....many have emotionally unavailable children who would rather be homeless or leave their parents homeless rather than combine resources and responsibilities. That's why so many are going without. I too have a large home that could house 3 generations, but only my granddaughter sees the value of cohabitation.
@@maried3717 Yes, I agree. Have you tried to talk to any of your kids about it? Sometimes showing them what could be save in monthly overhead would be a mind changer. My grandson, the youngest, shares the electric on our half of the house. Oh, how I could go on. There are so many benefits to cohabitation. The best of luck to you. Start talking to them.
Jo Savo that is incredible. Very smart way to live. I’m in my 30s I live in my mother’s home with my children. Although it’s small. What state are you in to get such a large property??
@@josavo6377 This is a dead issue with my daughter....I tried to help her get her decreased fathers house remortgage in her name at a lower interest rate...but she keeps the mortgage in his name because the mortgage company told her as long as she pays the payments she can keep paying it off....rates are now 2 percent less...she could cut her payments in half...I told her I would pay closing costs.... Nope! She is going to do it her way...and now she is behind on car payments, etc. I am done.... She is going to lose that property because she is blind. Jo Ann Tukes NPR is National Public Radio it’s like televisions PBS. It has no commercials and has news, and interesting and sometimes educational programs.
My sister is going to California as I write this to rescue a 76 yr old woman who has been living in her car for over a year. Her employer went under and she lost her job, mobile home of 19 years, and all of her clothes and possessions when she fell behind in her storage rent. I put up money for her to stay in a motel with complimentary breakfast until my sister can reach her. She is not the first we have worked to keep from a worse fate. We ourselves are not well off, but have been fortunate to keep our heads above water. Family and friends have to pull together to keep going. Not everyone is benefiting from the economic climate we are in today. Being a senior and homeless after a life time of work is not deserved by anyone.

@@karencooper6634 same here when i saw the book on Obama!!👏🏊😌 i have a small 1100 sq ft. single story home with huge yard in norCal, paid for, kids in another state, single great pension. A health nut, and exercise yoga person, no pets. Like her no cable, love music🎶🎧🎼. I love usa, dont want to live in cold sweden where taxes are 50%, lol. So many negative comments, because folks made bad decisions and kept making them, not perfect myself, but knew i had to work, etc, i'm only 2 years younger than her, so my life was harder being a black girl in the south in segregated America. 💜

Kitchen and bathroom designs are great! A tiny home she can feel at home in. It's adorable!
Nice job, Penny! Your house is terrific. I love all of the artwork, quilts, and handmade pieces. The over the sink dish rack is great, too. I need to get one of those for my place. You are so kind to your dog to think of exercise options like a doggie treadmill. Good luck selling your tiny home and finding something else that will work better for you and your dog.
I like this I think she did a good job designing this for herself and it's clean and looks nice....
You're a sweet lady, Penny. Thank you for the tour and good luck!
I can't believe she is 79! She sounds and looks great! She needs to do voice overs.
She is 77
God Bless her.
Zalina she’s 77
She 77
I think you got confused
Wow..you look really healthy and your voice is so youthful and strong! Proof that having a healthy and active life beyond 50 is possible! Thanks for sharing!
Penny-you’re such an inspiration!
And I LOVE the stained glass, the mirror in the bathroom, pictures in the stairs-and of course, that fabulous natural pine! Lovely 🏡
This woman is impressive👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
Penny, love your house and agree that I don’t like lofts either, and I’m only 60. Good luck selling it, the right buyer is out there.
Hope you sold your lovely home, lovely video and lots of love xxx
What a great space! We would all be wise to adapt our lives to look like this. How did we get tricked to believe more is better?
We got Hypnotised and Addicted. "Ripped off and Lied To" as the old song says. The Truth is Less is More.
We Love to Roam ::: We went from a have not WWI mentality to keeping up with the Kardashians!
I used to believe that when my kids were young. Now this is all I need.
It's a real house...just a real tiny house. I love it, wish I had a way to do this too.
What an absolutely beautiful lady with a beautiful soul. She has a lovely home.
This is exactly the way i want to live. How awesome for you.
Man I wouldn’t mind living in a tiny home like this when I finally graduate. Saves a bunch of money I can imagine!
How are you doing 😊😊
Hey Penny! Your tiny house is beautiful ...Wishing you more peace and blessings in life and on your tiny house journey ♥
This is my dream, I hope to do this one day
Bless her young at heart self she gets around a lot better than me and I'm 57.
$20 a month for electric including Heat and AC. that's good.
Heat yes. No AC necessary living on the coast. Just open a window!
Penny Burt hope your life is ok then
Wow! That is cheap! I pay AU $900 and I live in a little beach shack with my husband. Tiny house for me for sure 👍
Man I could live in this beauty. Its just as fabulous as anything I could dream up
WOW!!! I would love to pay $20 a month. As is I pay about $200 a month sometimes more and it's just me and my furry family.
Hey Penny I’m having one built without a loft by Incredible Tiny Homes in Newport TN
I chose Randy Jones as my builder because they were able to incorporate my ideas into a beautiful spacious home.
I love your galley kitchen and walk thru bathroom.
holly slaughter I’m considering Tiny Homes myself. Do they do all the finishes etc?
They'll do just about everything, option range from 16' THOW shell/kit for lowest possible pricing that starts at $15K and completed homes that start at $20K on up... and will do full custom if your budget allows...
You can check out their website at incredibletinyhomes.com
They also have a Facebook and UA-cam channel...
I might contact them. thank you!
Ooohhh I love you Penny ! So nice to listen to and so down to earth! I hope you had luck selling your tiny house! ❤️
What a cute home & love that there is a ground floor bedroom.
We all have new cars, come and go as we please, including vacations and weekend sprints. All made possible due to our living arrangement.
I am ok....financially well....not well off but more than ok.
Such a pleasure to hear Ms. Penny. She seems so intelligent, sensible and down to earth.
She explained everything perfectly.
At 77 she's very rich because she's blessed with good health.
Penny I absolutely love your tiny home I wish that more states would allow this type of build and real people could afford to live by there own means. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. God bless
Penny I love your home.
I found your home to be very welcoming and warm.
I could listen to you on the radio if I was on a long road trip.
Your voice is very soothing.
I don’t have a TV either and i am also an NPR person I’m 81 and I would love a tiny house like this.
I'm 55, and I don't have tv,
Recently the prez was asking what is NPR, and why is it funded. It’s for people like you and I, who find commercial TV just so wrong. I use NPR, podcasts, PBS, and UA-cam.
Judith Ashenhurst what is NPR?
Jo Ann Tukes NPR is National Public Radio it’s like televisions PBS. It has no commercials and has news, and interesting and sometimes educational programs.
Judith Ashenhurst thank you so much Judith!!
And there are so many of us.No Respect.
@@alaureljordan2427 I know my dear....it is not a fair lot. Too many have forgotten or never been in a place with their back against the wall. The rich want it all....and when they finally get it....they too will fall. Stay safe and God bless.
@@classybug212 I don't know you....if you need help your family and friends need to step in! If you need help and they don't then they are worthless and I'm sorry for you....my family and friends never helped me either.....
Tell that to dave ramsey, he is against helping family who fall behind.
@@Mongo-ui1ll Ramsay has good ideas....just no heart. A lot of people fall behind through no fault of their own....they do all the right hings and someone gets sick and everything crashes down from there....others fall on hard times because they are careless...don't prepare and want everything NOW! Others won't work to help themselves.....Can't throw everyone in the same bucket.
Well done Penny, well done indeed. Your beautiful small house is inspirational and so are you. God bless you.
She’s adorable and I love her. 💕
This is so lovely, Penny! You did an amazing job planning everything out!!! Best wishes to you!!!
Mirror is beautiful she has skills, love her tiny home.
Hello Donna how are you doing!!
Such a good strong voice! You're enjoyable to listen to. Good luck on your adventure.
Amazing house and awe inspiring lady. I'm in love with both.
Watching in 2020; I hope Penny found a buyer and is doing well.
Who the heck would give this a thumbs down? I think it’s absolutely amazing, ingenious and totally functional. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it! But for sweet Penny it seems to be a perfect fit! Praying you get your little ‘loftless’ unit soon. Thank you so much for sharing! Love your voice! Love your stained glass mirror and a big thumbs up to buying at thrift shops! LOVE THIS! ❤️
