i did it 3 years ago, 6 policeman led by a double jointed sarge; was so much fun, we even got the 'best in production ' during the local critics review...i fell into the orchestra pit during rehearsals...cymbals hurt..
Tim Tyler Is probably the best sergeant I've seen so far And also the most flexible And those cops are damn good too I'm so jealous My friends and I totally wish we could do his dance. :)
my school is doing it this year, its so amazing how much our choreography is alike to the actual production, i'm a pirate but i love watching our sarge do this song. i also love performing "with cat like tread"
So you were a pirate watching the police Sargent do this song...and you had the spirit of tony Azito too...the guy who was the police Sargent in the central park production and the Broadway stage musical and the film.
haha. i was a police officer a few years ago and I recall having contests to see who could roll our tarrrrrrrrrrrrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrraas the longest. haha.
I've never understood that. All you need to do is listen to the lyrics to realize that G&S were not just amazingly talented, but hilariously satirical.
A very well acted production, nicely directed, with a superb Mabel, but the clowning by the sergeant and ensemble in this scene is just too much. The Papp version with Linda Ronstadt takes mild liberties but remains fantastic and true to the song and melodies; sadly this Foeman loses the essence on what its all about in daft comedy.
well, it is funny and that song IS supposed to be funny. right? maybe they could of picked a better singer sure but not one that flexible! its like he has no bones!
that Sergeant is RIDICULOUS! He is unbelievably good!
I was a Gilbert and Sullivan Traditionalist until I saw you production. BRAVO!!!

The Aussie production is totally funny with Jon English as the Pirate King.
Lol, I was a policeman in this! They're the funniest out of the entire musical. XD
this is probably the best production ever i cant see it bettered
Tim Tyler

how he has great over-splitz! im sooo excited to be part of this fantastic work of art!!!!
my favorite version of Pirates of Penzance
Gotta love the ping-pong balls...

One of the best productions ever!
I live for this stuff I absolutely love musical theatre
God Timmy was fun to work with! David Atkins did the role in the 1984 original tour and did a good job too.
I bet he always wins in limbo :)
I forgot about this one!!I just dug my copy of the movie and heard it-- THIS is my favorite song! Instead of 'A Paradox'. Whoops. xP
im the sergeant for my school play, thx for the tips
Did you do the part made famous by Tony Azito.
Great!!!!!
haha. i was a police officer a few years ago and I recall having contests to see who could roll our tarrrrrrrrrrrrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrlrraas the longest. haha.
Yeah!!!
Dear god his tendons are made of jelly!
Helen Donaldson
She was in the Mikado
Yes she was in the megamix of all three G/S shows and she got to perform with her past castmates from Pirates of Penzance.
Tim Tyler must have been in a circus but I must say his nickname should be elastic man or Mr Flexible
hahaha funny...
i like that so much!
(Im a bobby in an amateur version)
Tony Azito George Rose Linda Rondstad Rex Smith and Kevin Kline the one cast I enjoyed in the central park production and the film verison.
i herd this music in school im from american school of mozambique withc is aism
I thought the other half of the policeman ran away because they were afraid of the pirates. Glad thats cleared up.
i think she does it really funny
they actually make the police force look fun! :D the sarge is a proper john cleese!
I've never understood that. All you need to do is listen to the lyrics to realize that G&S were not just amazingly talented, but hilariously satirical.
lol! were having our 1st skol play ever and wer going to do this! im a policeman :) policeman rock!
We're you the Sargeant.
Pirates of Penzance
Yeah ok each to their own. I think this performance is just as good as the original.
No the levels are a bit off in this version. I haveseen the full length one and its not that bad.
No alto parts so I had to play a policeman in our school's production last week :/
So you got to play one of the best parts in the whole show.
NINJA POLICE
Nobody beats Tony Azito the best police Sargent of all..these aussies come close but they come second .
yeah this is ment to be funny
im doing this cant wait : D
@14mead haha yup my voice is A LOT different now :L
....and bouncing on the floor in that position could turn him into a soprano.
@jennjenn24 well they mabey wittless but the have the wit enough to gather a enough men to fight pirates
This cast is fantastic, espesially the Sargent--they're better than the cast if the movie!
Tony Azito was the funniest police Sargent in the musical God rest his soul.
Is this Pirates of Penzance or Little Shop?
I concur.
People have this strange idea that just because it's from the 19th century it has to be serious.
@zBoOnerAwSoMeStPeEps so instead of singing alto, u sang bass? lol
What on earth was the point of the ping-pong balls in the mouth?!?
Why? because she sings good? well should say extremely well.
this is entirely overdone in a wonderful 80's way
weird syncopations...

Joseph Papp did the Broadway production of Pirates in australia some years back.
wow the sergeant is funny but i think the song wasn't supposed to be that ridiculous
wow - policeman is so floppy! pity the band drowns out the singing a bit. same in all these vids of this version - im sure its not tigrrs fault tho
well, it is funny and that song IS supposed to be funny. right? maybe they could of picked a better singer sure but not one that flexible! its like he has no bones!
The whole musical is actually supposed to be funny - it is all very tongue in cheek.
The fabulous singlettes annoy me...
*COWARDS!!*
