- Ronnie O'Sullivan becomes snooker's World Champion once again after beating Kyren Wilson 18-8 in the Crucible final. Watch the moment he sealed the title for a sixth time as well as the trophy lift and post-match interview...in which the 'cue action' got a mention again!

Even though this is Ronnie's moment, I'd like to pay tribute to Kyren Wilson. Clapping when Ronnie potted that red was great sportsmanship. He's a lovely lad and a talented player. I am sure Kyren will go on to win this prize himself one day.
So just imagine, hendry has to go thru davis, ronnie, John, mark, Ken and last but not least jimmy to get thru 7 world snooker title. Dominate the whole of 90s was never an easy feat. Sure he will get burn out. But hendrys record speaks for itself.

Ronnie has 28 seasons as a professional
Hendry has 31 seasons as a professional (someone point out there's a mistake here... Hendry has 27 seasons as a profesional)
Ronnie has played 1311 matches winning 75,3% (highest winning percentage in the sport)
Hendry has played 1270 matches winning, 68,9%
Ronnie has made his 1054 century breaks in 11,452 frames (a ratio of 10.87). Currently, only Judd Trump has a slightly better century break ratio with 10.62, but it fair to say that Trump is young and on fire... chances are his ratio will degrade when he's past his 40th birthday. Ronnie also won 61.25% of those frames (7014)
Hendry has made his 772 century breaks in 11,722 frames (a ratio of 15.18)... and even though he has played more frames than Ronnie, he has won less frames than him (6891)
They have played 56 matches against each other, Ronnie has won 30 of them against 21 wins for Hendry and 5 draws. They have also met 13 times in tournament finals with 9 wins for Ronnie.
Let's talk tournaments... Ronnie said that it took him more tournaments to beat Hendry's records but as we see here, that's impossible because with a better Win/Loss ration and nearly the same amount of matches played, there is no way that Ronnie has played on more tournaments than Hendry. Also, every snooker fan who follows the sport, is well aware that for the past 20 years Ronnie is intentionally missing a lot of tournaments. God knows how much titles, wins and centuries he could have earned if he was a more hungry player, like Trump for example. Just to compare, Judd Trump is now 30 years old and got into top 16 for the first time in 2011 for such a short period he already has played 1111 matches (with win percentage of 69,67), only 200 matches less than Ronnie, who has been on the tour from 1993. That's because Trump is hungry and determined to set records... which is why in 8-10 years he will probably surpass Ronnie in centuries, but not because he's a better break builder, but because he plays everywhere he can. They have very close century break ratios, but in the statistics of 90+, 80+ and 70+ breaks Ronnies has much, much better ratio than Trump... which for me solidifies him as the better break builder. But let's get back to Hendry....
Hendry also played more finals to get his 36 ranking titles and his 39 non ranking titles, so Ronnie has a better win/loss ratio in finals where the pressure is at it's high. Not to mention that Ronnie won the majority of his titles in the same era that Hendry could not survive, retiring at the age of 42 with the last ranking title win at the age of 35 and last world title win at the age of 30

So open and honest about his approach to the game, and none of the "cue action mate" japery.. the way he talks about Hendry's record is absolutely bang on.. we all know he's the best ever, and I'm sure he knows it too, but the respect and admiration he has for Hendry and Higgins et al is great to hear.. And he's right about Kyren being miles ahead of his peers. Think the young man has definitely won over a few fans after his attitude/performance this week. This man is legendary. Everyone have something remarkable to remember him about snooker. Whether it's his fastest 147 record, or that fucktecular brilliant break of 92, or his famous maximum call of 147, can I know what's the prize money for maximum break, or his 1000 century breaks.. There are just too many too many things this man singlehandedly elavate snooker to this higher standard that we mere mortals would only dream of.

I love that man for so many years. I used to watch Ronnie with my dad and I’ve always wished him the best. Just like he’ve said his mind wonders sometimes, he was out of shape from time to time, but he is simply the greatest and all that imperfections make him perfect.

He was very gracious in his interview. He beat Ding, Williams and most importantly Selby to get there. Those last three frames against Selby were pure genius and why we keep coming back to watch him. All could have been finals. Clearly battling with his mind at points but came through. Sports personality of the year yes Davis I agree. Unlikely though. Maybe he has to win 8 worlds to even get a nomination. Brilliant, well done Ronnie!

There is a joy like none other when you watch Ronnie and he's in full flow. I hope everyone else feels that way too. He's special. I remember Secretariat. This feels like that.
Congratulations to Kyren. He made it to the biggest stage of his sport. Showed great sportsmanship after the match. Full of class he is. He hasn’t lost today, he has gained a world of knowledge and experience to build on and win the trophy in the future.
If he improves his positional play, he will win a world snooker title.
Flavio Moriconi easier said than done to improve one of the most important and hardest aspects of the game.
There really aren't any more words we can use to describe this guy. Every time we think he's done and doesn't have it in him to win more tournaments, he just proves us wrong time and time again.
I genuinely thought this was Judd Trump's era now. He'd go on and win a few in a row. But I was wrong. Ronnie goes from a first round exit last year to champion a year later.
I do think now he can at least match Hendry's 7 world titles.
Play a few more tournaments, find a decent cue action and add a few more titles to his GOAT record.

Did any one pick up on his dig at 3 time Champion Mark Selby. Ronnie said that he considers snooker greats to be those who have won the world title 4 times, except for Mark Williams who has one it 3 times. Apart from him, 4 times winners are the greats.
I'm sure Selby will get a fourth.
People forget that Mark Williams is the only player along with Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis to win The Triple Crown in the SAME season! That alone makes Mr. Williams an all time great!

To achieve a 6th World Title 6 years after a crushing final defeat (10-5 up to 14-18) and 5 disappointing Crucible Campaigns since is just an incredible achievement. He's level with Steve Davis and Ray Reardon, equalling Stephen Hendry is now a realistic goal and next year he'll be the Number 1 seed and so he'll have the easiest possible draw.

this shows the class of these two players dominating the game even in the 3rd decade of their career
Great sportsmanship from kyren, I like him and hope he does win 1 day. But as for ronnie, I watched every session of all his matches.. The first round where he takes 13 seconds to play a shot... The way he suddenly went up a gear in the final sessions with Ding and Williams. The last 3 frames against Selby will be talked about for years... Breathtaking. And the 2nd day of this final. There will be a deep sadness for all of us when he goes... Has more talent and charisma than any of the rest.

And if you noticed, Ronnie didn't even attack one player by name. He criticised the standard of play, which most of us agree with. The less said about that sore loser, Selby, the better.
Selby already started dreaming about the crown n all of sudden got a big 👋 to his face by Ronnie at Rocket speed. I remember Ronnie did the same to Selby in other semifinal in 2018 n went on to win the title.

It's definitely possible that Ronnie could get the 7th next year..to me that'd be what his talent truly deserves.I think 8 is a stretch too far at his age despite the skills still being there,but I think to equal Hendry in the history books would be right and proper.I definitely think if Kyren had played anyone else in that final he would've played so so much better...definitely over awed by his opponent and the occasion.
