this is why i love your reaction channel. not only do you give good information about the sounds and whatnot but you are willing to listen to smaller less known bands that are not going to get you the most views but damn if its not fun finding out new and cool bands and adding them to my growing spotify list. Thanks GG for helping us find more of the smaller bands that are so awesome.
Thanks a lot Randy, glad to hear we're on the same page. Views and all that stuff are nice, but it's not why I make these videos ;) music will always come first
Holy Moly ..... this is just a hard core banger.......... beautiful post modern and traditional Korean music blended in. Not for everybody but if you r a mysician or metal person this is such an intense song....and appreciative.
So glad that you gave Jambinai a chance. I've been a fan since basically their debut, and own all of their CDs.. Some other songs of theirs that I recommend, are "Time of Extinction", "Connection" (shorter edited version), "For Everything That You Lost", and "Onda". All of these have music videos (as well as live versions) that can be found on UA-cam.
Thank you very much for reacting to Jambinai 잠비나이 , I really enjoyed seeing your amazement and yes, to me it is also a music that, above all, transmits me emotion and very intense feelings that reach the deepest and I would dare to say the most primal part of me as a human being. Sim Eun-yong (she is the long-haired brunette girl) plays "Geomungo", I love the sound it has and visually, watching her play it is absolutely subjugating. Kim Bo-mi (the other girl) plays the "Haegeum", it really has two strings and the bow is between the two, it took me a while to realise that detail :) As far as I know, those two instruments are fixed in almost every song. Lee Il-woo is the one who plays the guitar, but in other songs he also plays the "Piri" and the "Taepyeongso", the first one is like a very thin flute and the second one is like a small trumpet. In some occasions I have seen some other traditional instruments, but I haven't found more information, at least until now, if I find it I'll give it to you ;) The three of them are the original members and the ones who founded the band, there have been four different musicians on bass and drums and they don't play any other instruments. According to Wikipedia they are included in the genres of experimental rock, Korean folk, post-rock, but I think they may also have some prog-rock. They formed in 2009, recorded an EP in 2010 and have three albums, "Différance" (2012), "Hermitage (2016) and ONDA (2019). And I think "They Keep Silence" is representative of their music, especially in the intensity and emotion it conveys. And I'm glad you liked them so much since I was one of the people who recommended them to you and the funniest thing is that the other person who recommended them was another follower of yours... also from Spain, Juan San. I leave you two other songs that I really like "SUN. TEARS. RED. (검은 빛은 붉은 빛으로)" - ua-cam.com/video/dEuSHgI-pk8/v-deo.html "WAVE (온다)" - ua-cam.com/video/Z71tKxrztC4/v-deo.html Greetings from Spain (Translated automatically by software) *** Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) *** By the way, if you want to enjoy his music, there are several concerts on UA-cam with a pretty good quality and from different periods ;)
I forgot to recommend you "Connection", it's almost 10 minutes long, but the union of the images and the music is a marvel, it's pure emotion and it's also one of his quietest songs ;) ua-cam.com/video/mpmtnLLZPcg/v-deo.html Personally I'd love to see you discover him, but because of the length it might not be too convenient as a reaction ;)
@@akaalexanderking Nothing to thank, it's a real pleasure to have been able to discover Jambinai for you and to see that your astonishment was very similar to mine ;) By the way, the geomungo sometimes works almost like a percussion because of the deep sound, but also because sometimes it is played by hitting the wood with the stick used for the strings and passing it through the frets creating a sound that reminds me of certain sounds I heard in some asian horror movies a few years ago, a kind of "clack clack clack clack clack clack clack clack" quite disturbing, you can see it at the end of the song ;) Greetings from Spain ;) (Translated automatically by software)
wow!!! That was jaw dropping 😮listened to a few of their other tracks, which were good but didn’t have the same energy , this one ,was by far the best , so unique! Lost in music moment !🤗 your reaction was the best one yet !🤣😂
Excelent!. Jambinai is a very interesting band. I came to them after a video about the Koto on Rob Scallion's channel. I made a comment about Waggakki Band and someone suggested Jambinai. There are times when the best of YT is in its community.
Awesome reaction! I discovered your channel from your Lovebites reacts but found this in your uploads and was pleasantly surprised. I discovered these guys a few years ago when they played at a festival. By far the best band of the weekend. I can't remember the exact details of this but the song is directed at the Korean government/authorities for their inept response to a tragedy that occurred in the country. I'd recommend giving "Connection" a listen if you haven't already. Not sure how good it would be for a react video because its long and very gradual but its in my opinion their finest work.
Wow that was great. Asia is killing it for music. Not even sure what to say it was so unique. If you haven't heard of The Hu check them out from Mongolia. They went super viral 2 years ago or so, wouldn't be surprised if you heard of them.
Never heard of these guys, but that was absolutely amazing, I'm going to have to go looking for more. I'd definitely describe them as Progressive Rock based on this. The vertical instrument looks like a regional variation on the Erhu (Chinese 2 string violin), check out Taiwanese metal band Chthonic- Broken Jade for how it works in heavier music (hint: it works really well ;))
@@akaalexanderking They are an amazing band, well worth checking out. I see VGVindaloo gave you a few links, so here's the one for Broken Jade ua-cam.com/video/heF_NPJbv8Y/v-deo.html
I kind of get an arabic vibe from this, even. Interesting. Very different to the one that's been recommended in the comments of the Rolling Quartz video. Very nice indeed. The control on that big string instrument is amazing. And instruments with few strings are a very interesting breed, too. It's fascinating that that's a common theme all over the world. Just out of curiosity, speaking of variety of genres, do you listen to "electronic music" (what a generalization...)? Do you know Lorn? Or Burial? Not at all a reaction request, because I wouldn't even know if that's possible. Not that the music is so far out there, but electronic music reactions seem like a non-existent thing. Probably a matter of "what would you even talk about?".
So, going through their catalogue a bit, they have some certified bangers and some exquisite slow and soft pieces. And everything in between. There's a lot of haunting feeling in their music, it's intense. "SUN. TEARS. RED." is presented extremely passionate, I can't really help but choke up a bit. But also, as some commenter on the video put it well, it's very cathartic, with a somehwat uplifting ending. Such an interesting mix. I haven't heard the bands they're often compared to, so I can't comment on that (and personally I dislike doing/hearing that anyway. It makes no sense to me, but that's me). They use an absolutely fascinating instrument in the song ONDA, like a handheld organ-flute mix. It looks steampunk. But it's beautiful and it sounds amazing... From interviews, they're a humble bunch, who dream of reigniting interest in historic instrumentation in Korea. Help. I just spent an entire public holiday and this saturday watching their stuff..and pretty much right away bought their albums. It's just addictive.
I was trying to figure out how the effects are changing on the traditional instruments, I didn't get the feeling they had pedal board on an effect loop... Now I could be wrong, but I think the laptops are basically doing DSP effects for the traditional instruments. I'm still not certain what the time signature is on this track. I think it's some kind of compound time signature, and it was really cool. I definitely need to hear more of this band.
