Meanwhile, i'm just over here laughing because I love everything this band has ever made. It's well done, thoughtful, and so fucking passionate. No other band gets me going like After the Burial. My favorite "core" band period.

No lie, found this while looking up an episode of Samurai Jack, the one where he shouts "WHO ELSE WANTS SOME!?" and now? I'm pretty sure this song could be a perfect theme for him. Leave it to After The Burial to write badass noble-like songs. They're truly an endlessly amazing and talented bunch. I know there are thousands of bands nowadays that sound like them, but somehow, at least to me personally? They just seem to stick out to me in ways I can't really describe. They're badass, no doubt.

I saw these play for the first time last night in San Diego. There were a lot of good bands playing, but these guys earned my respect when the vocalist stopped the song because he saw someone getting choked out in the mosh pit. He said "sorry about stopping singing...but I don't like to see that". I wanted to buy this CD, but unfortunately they didn't have one there.
down here in Abilene Tx we got a lot of young metal bands starting out! it realy is amazing how many people down here love their metal. It will live in all of us METAL LIVES ON \m/

That was the smartest decision they've ever made. Because they've become a cash cow. Sumerian Records is a business first and foremost. They have to make money to sustain the business. Just the way it is.
Indeed. While I may not like their music, I'm glad AA are on Sumerian, so they're able to stay a float and give bands like AAL and ATB a chance to put their music out. A necessary evil if you will.

Well when you put in terms of business, i agree. Its just i dont generally think of asking alexandria as a true "sumerian" band, you know? Theyre the same as the majority of all other metalcore bands on Rise/Victory. But that doesnt mean that ALL bands on those labels suck (eg. Within the Ruins, The Plot in You, etc.)
Yes this song is in American Satan. They just took the instrumentals and made slight changes and added a new singer over it for the film. Basically they were too lazy to write original music for the film itself lol

Veil of Maya IS a Deathcore band without a question but also very technical. With ATB its hard to tell. Some would say they're Melodic Death Metal. ATB uses a death growl style high thats usually sense in Death Metal. Again, its hard to tell.
Eh, I hate arguing about Subgenres, but if anything I'd say they're Tech Death. Whenever I think of Deathcore I think of bands like Whitechapel or Suicide Silence, and I have a hard time comparing VoM to them.
if After The Burial is an emo band then so is Trivium. After the Burial put on a damn good show when I saw them and were just as good as Sylosis and Trivium.
The breakdown at 4:00 reminds me of the one in Domination by Pantera.

Veil of Maya is a Deathcore and Technical Death Metal band that uses djent toned riffs. If you don't think so then you should do some research.
Periphery is Prog as well as VERY experimental(from math metal which they basically use a progressive metalcore etc) with djent toned riffs.
ATB is an odd one. They mix Melodic Metalcore/Melodic Death with Metal Prog Metal(djent toned) and use elements of Deathcore.(such as the high vocals).
veil of maya isnt deathcore, deathcore is bands like suicide silence, signs of the swarm, etc. veil of maya is metalcore or tech metalcore
