  • I often hear how intimidating the advanced sequencer in NINA is. And yes, with a blank page and a boatload of instructions, it can be overwhelming. You just need to really think about all the things you do to image and then recreate those actions in NINA. In this video, we create a simple sequence to show you how easy it really is!

I have to say that the advanced sequencer has always intimidated me, but watched this full video and it’s made me want to try as it makes more sense now, thanks for breaking it all down in to easy to understand chunks, much appreciated….👍🏻

Yes, it is intimidating, especially when confronted with a blank page and a list of instructions. You need to understand the actions you want NINA to execute and put them into the session. You will have some trial and error. You may have to move some instructions to other spots depending on whether or not you get the expected results. But it is pretty easy once you understand how it works and can list out the actions that need to occur. The trickiest part is understanding the looping conditions and the triggers. But once you have those figured out, it becomes easier to create the templates. Good luck and clear skies!

At about 1:50 you state that you can't save all three sections as a whole. Look to the icons at the lower left side of your screen. There are four icons. The two in the middle look like the old 3.5" floppy disc. The on the left (of those two) has a plus sign on it and the other one does not. (hover over these icons for a brief explanation on the purpose) The one with the plus sign will let you save all content to a new single jason file. The one without the plus sign will save any updates/changes made to the that same file without any further action on your part. To save each section separately use the save options in each section. Note that the 'target' sections have a round icon you can use to save that target to the Target menu on the right side of the screen.

You are correct, but you can't save it out as a template, which is what I meant to state, so my bad. Why being able to save it out as a template is important is because when you are in the Framing section, you can save your selection out to a template. Now there are ways to get around this, but I wanted to discuss specifically NINA's default behavior.

@@DavidCotePhotography Got it. Yes, master the defaults then go outside the box. Take care and I am grateful for your videos.
