As much as this would be an unreal appointment for Sunderland under the current regime unless your a young and up and coming manager out to prove yourself and willing to work to set guidelines you won’t be coming here. Cooper would want all his own backroom staff, have the final say on transfers and be backed financially. These are the things Sunderland fans can only dream of right now.

Steve Cooper is his own man and has his own ideas about managing a football club. I couldn't imagine him for one minute, dropping down to head coach and having no say in transfers, incoming or out. I just can't see him answering to Speakman, he's much better than that, Sunderland need someone who isn't that good and ''will'' listen to Speakman, not many will!!!

Under this current regime I don’t think we will ever have a “ manager “ it’s always going to be a coach. That’s why the likes of cooper won’t be attracted to Sunderland unfortunately. The current set up won’t relinquish the power to give the club a manager. Just my opinion guys don’t shoot me for it
