    Thanks for taking the time to do this!! I hope the park listens to your suggestions!

    I’m all for getting rid of the blacktop and putting in more shade, especially drought/freeze resistant trees. Also, brick work/pavers would look amazing!!
    I’m also for getting better food options for us plant-based eaters and food-centric events like Boysenberry Festival at KBR.
    Lastly, it’s time to either modernize the amphitheater or tear it down. Bring in up to modern standards and actually start having concerts again!!

    Love this kind of content and wouldn’t mind more of it!
    I do absolutely think step one aesthetically for the park is removing the copious amount of blacktop. There are several areas where it’s so old that there are essentially potholes scattered around, not to mention it’s just kind of lazy and ugly.
    I also personally would love some restructuring of the layout within reason. There’s a couple of bad dead ends in the park (like the new Gotham City one you pointed out), and maybe the biggest culprit of that is Titan. The biggest baddest ride in the park, and I watch guests miss it all the time. Literally hear families standing around Texas Giant all the time asking where Titan is. That area is honestly quite nice too, I’d love a more fleshed out Big Bend Ranch area.

    I agree 100% with all of your ideas! I hope the appropriate people watch your videos and listen. The mall area of the park is lacking also. I miss the sphere water fountain and the massive flower displays over the whole park. SFOT was a park for a lot of "firsts", perhaps historical markers explaining this to guests. Log Flume needs theming, maybe then people would be interested in riding it. The amphitheater is a large area with potential.

      In fact there are, I think, three Texas Historical Markers still on display at the park: "The Six Flags Over Texas" granite marker at the entrance; "Cable Tool Rig" in Boom Town; and "Narrow Gauge Railway" at the Texas Depot. In the past there was a "Merry Go Round" marker for the carrousel and a "Fort St. Louis" marker in France near the La Salle river boats. I would love to see those latter two markers displayed. again. There was another marker whose title I forgot that was relocated to the stock yards. Maybe the Oil Derrick could be listed as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark?

    My wish list? Remove the Gotham theming completely and make that entire area Good Times Square. Have a restaurant called Ma Snooker's. Bring back bumper cars and call them Doc Snooker's Infernal Electrical Bumping Machines. Maybe add a shooting gallery, they could call it Texas Shoot Out. Move the carousel entrance to behind the carrousel into the Texas section and restore the dancing waters fountains and the two missing flag poles. Search the warehouse for the old "Merry-go-round" Texas Historical Marker and, if found, display it near the carrousel entrance. Search the warehouse for the "Fort St. Louis" Texas Historical Marker and, if found, display it in France section. Call up the current Schwarzkopf company and ask them to re-fabricate a speed racer. Remove Aquaman and Pandemonium to make room for said Schwarzkopf speed racer, call it Big Bend. Yeah, now I'm wishful thinking. Oh well.

    They hardly ever use the Amphitheater anymore. That land could be used for a major new attraction.

    Thank you for posting a video about this. This is the very first ever Six Flags and it’s become kind of janky. I heard it’s because the Wynn family still owns half the park and contract doesn’t run out for a few years. Don’t understand the logistics.
    SFOT needs a lot of updating and refurbishment and better landscaping.

    Good list! In the western store that's now closed..... It originally sold western wear. Jeans, cowboy hats, shirts and stuff. And I'm sure YOU already know, the Casa DeLas Banderas restaurant was the El Chico's Restaurant in the early years of the park. The new corporate folks have a railroad wish list in their hands already. I'm hoping their love of steam makes it down here.

    I'm afraid that since Cedar Fair now owns half, they are going to make it much, much worse or go bankrupt. I hope not, but I'm afraid that's what will happen.
    1 and 2 absolutely needs to be done for sure! I really need a park with a very nice garden.
    What I want is:
    1. A secluded, Circus Tree Garden with oddly grown trees, different types of trees in the middle, trees growing all around the area to separate the area from everyone else to where you can't see thru, different types of plants, a small waterfall that goes into a small flow of water, bridges to cross, benches, and a canopy, roof, or pergula with vines growing all over it.
    and/ or:
    2. A bench under a weeping willow on the other side of a flowing stream of water, a bridge, with a colored and patterned concrete walkway, and other plants.

      I don't understand this sentiment. I went to Cedar Point back in may. First time I have been there. It was my best experience at ANY park I have ever been too. The place ran like a well oiled machine. GREAT food everywhere. Their food pass is amazing. The staff was plentiful, polite and helpful. Their app actually worked. The park was huge but easy to find stuff. If SFOT could be half as good as Cedar Point was it would be 100% better than it has been the last 5 years.

    Great suggestions! One thing not mentioned is the old Batman stunt show / Texas arena something needs to be done with that huge piece of real estate. Personally would love see some type of live show like before. The french section need to have the entrance to the roaring rapids and then perhaps theme it more to the french section.

    • @xtremejay2000
      @xtremejay2000 4 місяці тому

      I think the shows just lose money. Would you be willing to buy a ticket to a stunt show after already paying to get in the park? Maybe they could bring tons of shows back but charge for them all then have like a season show pass or a daily show pass that lets you see all the shows in a combo price. I just don't think theme parks these days can have aspects that outright lose money.

    • @buckman72
      @buckman72 4 місяці тому +1

      @@xtremejay2000 I have never looked into the financials of the shows, however I don't think that I would ever consider paying additionally for them. Shows do require staff but they also help reduce ride wait time and attract patrons who otherwise would not come to the park. They have been able to support great shows all these years without any need for additional ticket purchases so not sure they would want to go that route. IMHO.

    I wonder if the removal of pavers and addition of asphalt walkways was for compliance with wheelchair and strollers. Would be interesting to check with the city permit dept. As for the park's overall asthetics, it needs to decide if it wants to be an amusement park or a theme park. It's a bit halfway of both, and thus fails. There needs to be more cohesion of theme areas, and you have done a great job of showing on map renderings and discussion of where paths should go or where the stage should be moved. And that stage looks janky AF. Like the facades. Overall great job reporting here, and hope to see a better park someday.

    I think your ideas are right on, but I’d rather that they slowly phase out the Gotham City area as a whole. The area around Pandemonium and Aquaman currently has no identity. They really need to work on choosing a theme for those areas and sticking with it. Being a Texas-Themed park, the entire Gotham City area could be reimaged to look like an old western style county fair. All the industrial theming could also be tied into oil drilling and stockyards. Justice League could be themed to tie in with The Texas Rangers tracking down train robbers.
    As far as I’m concerned, the real park doesn’t begin until you reach the mine train coasters. The front is just a glorified carnival.

    For Great America, it's definitely theming that can be improved upon, that park has so much potential with that Six Flags never really tapped into since the 1990s, i think they should try to work with it again especially since the building blocks for it are still it helps a park with quality. More emphasis on the Looney Tunes would greatly be appreciated too as we're the only Six Flags without a Looney Tunes land (since 2010) and with us having the characters since opening, we should be more free with what we do with the characters.
    Pretty much everything you said about Over Texas also applies to Great America too. I hate the excuse people make that "Oh it's a thrill park now, they'll never do that again, it's not worth it" when shit like this used to add character to these parks

  • @ernstwhere
    @ernstwhere 4 місяці тому +1

    Agree 100%. Great America, my home park, is in similar shape: half finished projects, neglected buildings, landscape/grounds. This is not growth focused mgmt! Great America is in the top 20 attended N American parks and would perform much better with quality dining, modern kids sections, ammenities (like all the CF parks have). I think new 6 mgmt realizes this, money is being left on the table. Lets be hopeful! It's clear we care about our parks, likley more than the ppl currently running them.

    • @ChuckE.CheesesIllinois
      @ChuckE.CheesesIllinois 4 місяці тому

      I think we need that emphasis on theming back to restructure the park, we already have a lot of rollercoasters that we don't need another Big one (especially after Rakshasa), i think the coaster enthusiasts need to understand that because most are very hell bent on not having a rollercoaster every year

    I haven't been in the park for a long time, but the original character of the park has been left to rot. How very sad to see the theme-park experience gone. Now Six Flags is a glorified Midway with roller coasters & flat rides. It's far worse than I could have imagined.

    They should turn all those old indoor show buildings into either indoor restaurants ( Cedar Point has GREAT food choices) or just make them open for the visitors to go inside and cool off. Nothing more than an indoor rest area. Just do SOMETHING with them.
