    It was lovely to see you make it. When you first set out with a foot injury, i feared the worst. As you progressed each day, the end walk grew ever nearer and we like yourself began to gain confidence that you would do it. It was great watching your daily uploads and moans about grenade bars and how beautiful the weather was. You did really well and it was a pleasure to follow your journeys up and down dale. Good luck with future walks. Cheers.

      Hi Rob. It’s hard to believe it’s about 6 weeks since I finished the Pennine Way. It was nice to do a reflections video though to recap the adventure. It’s certainly not camping weather at the moment. I can’t decide whether to get some winter gear and get out with the tent. We will definitely sort that camp at some point 👍

    I really enjoyed this Video. It’s always good to enter into a time of reflection especially doing something as epic at the Pennine Way. 15 days of walking is a huge challenge. Well done on successfully completing it. I don’t think I’d ever try a grenade bar now lol! Haha! ATB. xx

    Hmmm now where *was* that you were walking in this...... 😂 This was a nice video Anthony reflecting on your journey. As I think I probably mentioned before, your films on the Pennine Way will be a lovely record to look back on. it was a great achievement. What I was also impressed by was that, having done many miles each day, you still managed to edit each film on your phone and post them online as you went along. Look forward to finding out where you do decide to head next. OK, now where's that Grenade Bar from that box I ordered earlier....... 😂😂😂😂

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      It was certainly strange that I’d planned a walk around that area and had watched your video a few days earlier. The daily editing of videos was certainly a chore at times, particularly after a long day. I’m glad I did them though as they’ve been great to watch back after the event. Something I’ll always have now too. Thanks for watching Patrick 👍

    Hi Anthony
    So , today my wife and I finally managed to binge watch every episode of your Pennine way adventure ! At the time you were doing this , we were getting married , so we were unable to follow your fantastic achievement and we had so looked forward to it since your Cleveland way as we thought that’s a hell of a more difficult challenge than your previous one ! Whenever I look at the map and look north of the dales , i always get the impression it’s very isolated snd bleak with very little life around you for mile after mile - was that your impressions ?
    I would also be interested , if you were prepared to share ( ha !) what your budget was for the 15 days and if you managed to keep to it ?
    Also , you mentioned the possible ‘what next? ‘ . We would love to see you do the Coast to Coast ?
    Keep doing what you doing matey and congratulations on an amazing achievement and something to look back on with pride ! Thank you so much for a great insight and fantastic clear videos !
    All the best
    Nick

      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Nick. Thanks to you and your wife for watching the Pennine Way series. Congratulations on your wedding too 👍. The trail does get more remote the further north you venture. The last couple of days in particular felt very isolated and far away from any civilisation. I loved the remoteness of it all though and the challenge that provided.
      I didn’t really have a budget when I planned it, although I decided to keep my accommodation costs as cheap as possible which wasn’t easy as none of the YHA’s had any availability. I think my total accommodation costs was around £1000. You could definitely do it cheaper than that by planning further in advance than I did. Obviously there are other costs such as eating out in the evening. No idea what I spent there but I did keep the costs to a minimum.
      Regarding the next challenge, I do fancy taking on the Coast to Coast but I’m not sure whether I’ll get the time this year. I’ll do a long distance trail though as I’ve got the bug now. Thanks again for watching. I really enjoyed making the videos and it does mean a lot when others enjoy watching them too. 🙂

    Great and honest reflection Anthony. Memories made and captured that will always be there to look back on in the years to come. It was a great achievement and you can see the emotion and how much it meant to you when you were sitting in the hut. Well done for raising the money towards a worthy cause. There is something special about completing a long distance hike that only those that have done it understand. Looking for to whatever the next adventure brings.

    Hi Anthony. Well done on a great effort. I first walked the Pennine Way in my 65th year and all being well I plan to walk it again in 2024 which will be my 75th year. Since my original walk I have become more interested in the equipment people are using as I plan to replace some of mine. Any chance you could do an equipment summary?

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  Рік тому

      It’s certainly something I could consider Tom. Are you planning on camping or staying in B&B’s like I did? The amount I took with me each day was minimal. Probably not what the purists subscribe too, but I wanted to enjoy the PW without being burdened by a heavy pack

    • @tomsmith8337

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      Hi John. I wore ASICS Trabuco Max trail running shoes. They were perfect for all the conditions I experienced as they gripped well and dried out really quickly when wet. I did wear waterproof socks with them on wet days to keep the feet dry

  • @ChrisJB

    A nice summary Anthony. Considering it was a September walk, you did brilliantly with the weather. Yes, I guess the C to C is the obvious next one. I found it a fair bit easier than the PW and personally, although still great, not quite as good. I am a bit of a Pennines obsessive though! Cheers, Chris

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Chris. I suppose I’ve made it difficult for myself by doing the PW first. I very much doubt any other trail will offer the same challenge or variation that the PW has to offer.

    Well done Anthony the bonus is you got to film it, when I completed the Pennine Way it was never thought of to make a film of a walk unless you are Julia Bradbury - So treasure the memories and should I be worried that you will walk all the 16 National Trails before me? I have 2 to go 😀

    I enjoyed this recap Anthony..just wondering what you thought of the accommodation you stayed at along the way. I've just completed the C2C around the same time you were away, stayed at several B&B's, found them quite expensive (ave. £80-£90/night)...did you consider staying in hostels-were any available?? Most YHA's are either closed or for private hire only at the moment. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I am planning to walk the PW next year to mark the 40th anniversary of the first time I did it. Back then you could hostel all the way for a fiver/night!! :)

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Maurice. The accommodation wasn’t too bad price wise. I managed to get quite a few places around the £50 mark. I couldn’t get into any YHA’s as they were all fully booked. Accommodation was tricky in places too, but I didn’t book mine until July so I did leave it a bit late. A 40th anniversary PW walk sounds great. Plenty of time to prepare for it too

      @AnthonyJohnson1  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry you feel that way Ian. Not sure why you felt the need to share these comments though. There are millions of videos on UA-cam so my advice would be to not get annoyed to the point where you feel the need to post such an unkind comment and instead just stop watching and watch something more to your taste instead. Have a great day
