- After much needed repairs to the Vanagon I was able to get back out and enjoy a night camping!
I went exploring some of the forest roads in the Pisgah National Forest and discovered several dispersed campsites. The area is know for mountain bike trails but there are some nice sites for car camping.
I hope you enjoyed the video! Where do you like to disperse camp? Leave a comment!

Great video. I hope you enjoyed your trip.
I did! I’ll be doing more Forestry Roads in my future videos after the holidays!
Back in the day, those areas where you find rock piles were farming fields. The rock piles are from when they plowed the land and moved the larger rocks to a pile. They would often use these rocks for all kinds of things. Remember most of WNC was clear cutted numerous times over the last few centuries. I find these piles near woods near my house here in the Piedmont. Puzzled me too for years before I figured it out.
Oh wow, thanks for the info! It was definitely puzzling when I came up on them. Very cool to know.
So thankful for the video I passed that road a couple weeks ago. Going soon.
Your welcome.
i read the stone piles is a old natural way to mark the path and to help you reconize you are close to people if lost deep in the woods! intristing right!
Cool to know! It out in the middle of nowhere in the Pisgah Forest!
If you were in some places the rock piles may have been prepping for a wall.
