      But is it better than the Zillertal Valley in Austria? 🤔
      Also, I can't be dealing with any cowshed airports. Can't remember which it was, but either Grenoble or Champery was a disgrace!

    February 2020, Flew into Geneva, rented car, drove to Courchevel and stayed at Fahrenheit 7. Drove for a day trip to VT just to try out Folie Douce. VT was better than Courchevel since it rained the first day at lower altitude at Courchevel 1600. VT was way more crowded and more difficult for an intermediate snowboarder like myself, but was great fun. VT is for party and club scene, Courchevel 1600 was more for families. Will stay at VT next time. Tip: Book your airport transfer months in advance or you will be stuck renting a car.

    There are some better après-ski and nightlife places to go in the alps but if you're young (like me), I definitely recommend going to valtho as other places such as ischgl and st. anton are way more family oriented resorts. For skiing these places are at the same level, meaning very good

    Take the "avoid french holidays" tip seriously! I was there for two weeks, one of it within and the other outside holidays. It is a difference like day and night. Usually you do not need to wait too long apart from early morning lifts where all people start, but in the holidays there are quite a few bottleneck lifts throughout the day.

    First of all thanks for the so far 17 videos! , but after all of that, I am even more confused, for beginners, with 10 and 12 yo, the best option is Val Thorens? Is the highest score for beginners so far? Thanks in advance

    • @SkiResortsVideo
      @SkiResortsVideo  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Elorza,
      for beginners, you don't need to go to Val thorens
      because you don't need to pay a lot for a huge area like 3 valleys, you can have a vacation in smaller places.
      i don't know where you are from , but a cheap option is Borovetz or Bansko in Bulgary, Passo Tonale in Italy, Val nord or grand Valira in Andora and many small resort in the alps.that way you will save a lot o money and don't pay high euros for a large ski area you won't use a big portion of it.
      from the resorts we reviewd, Flachau is a good option and la Plagne as well. as they are relatively cheap for a top resort
      Val Thorens was our 1st review, since than we also put to the equation the value for money, in the beginners score and we didn't take it to account in the Val Thorens review

    When there is snow and you have enough money france resorts are the best …. ( tho its much less expensive than north america ) … austria is a little less good but its cheaper and quality for price might be higher… italy depends on ski resorts but also is a little cheaper but i feel france for not much more pricey is better maintained… pyrenee ski is also overlooked and cheaper yet quite good too - i also like avoriaz and serre chevalier ( you have laGrave just next to it)

    Having just spent a week there I can tell that while the skiing is great in the three valley area, Val Thorens is too high to recuperate at night and half or our gang of friends suffered from altitude sickness for the first two days after arrival. La Folie Douce is just a ridiculous money grab with bouncers, body searches on entrance and 300€ bottles of champagne or 20€ bottles of beer with too loud music to talk with anyone. Other than that there literally is no nightlife in Val Thorens. If I would go there again I would get lodging from Meribel which is significantly lower altitude wise, in the centre of the three valleys so transit times are reduced and is a nice village.

    VT is great party resort, cheap in comparison to many other resorts and offers extensive skiing. However this concrete jungle is not an attractive resort with a lack of quality restaurants and full of Brits.

    Yep a French concert block scare the landscape with French prices why not leave the French alps come to austria I came over here from the French alps to vist a friend and never left the resort are better to look at and have the best snow make equipment easy got to by train or bus and there are loads of all year skiing areas including 256 days a year at Hintertux beat French on prices as well so for example you could ski in Innsbruck by fly direct into the city and Sking in the city

    One more thing to avoid is the Plein Sud lift next to the Folie Doce near 5PM. Imagine 200+ drunk people trying to ski down at the same time on a piste that is already trashed, slushy and with moguls everywhere. Fun to watch! LOL

    WAIIIIIIT It's a 9 for skiers of every lvl because you are so fucking high, you are always above the tree line? I'd increase the score because the snow up high is so much better.

    • @SkiResortsVideo
      @SkiResortsVideo  2 роки тому

      Jonathan, we agree about the snow. when we put an average score for beginners, we also take into consideration the costs per value compare to smaller resorts with cheaper prices that is enough for beginners.
