What a shame about the boxwoods, they were doing so good. You will rebound and come up with something that works better in your garden. Good to see hubby helping out on camera, I’m sure he is a great “behind the scene” supporter as well. Thank you, Gail❤️

Your gardens look so fresh and pretty. That darn boxwood blight !! I'M hoping mine don't get hit with it . Sorry that you lost yours.

Sorry to see the loss of your beautiful shrubs; I love the classic symmetry of boxwood. That’s the only problem with a uniform, homogenous border or hedge - when one plant succumbs to disease, they all become susceptible. I’ve been working to diversify my arborvitae border just for that reason, after losing two large specimens. Hope you find some nice replacement plants! 👍

Very true that’s what Hortube and impatient Gardner says too always vary your specimens! Actually your border looks cleaner without the boxwoods! Your garden is looking gorgeous!

Replace your shrubs with the new “Better Boxwoods.” They are disease resistant.
Wish we could get some of that rain. I’ve been having to do a lot of watering here in GA. ❤

I haven't seen any better boxwood here yet, but I am probably going to take my time deciding what to do there, unless something catches my eye!

Major bummer on the boxwoods! Have you thought about an arborvitae hedge with Anna's Magic Ball or Tater Tot arbs that stay small and globe shaped? Plus they love wet spots. Can't wait to see what you do in the end!

Ugh, so sorry about your boxwoods. You mentioned that you can’t plant boxwoods there again. Is that ever, or just for a few years? Thank you for the information about the lungworts. I’m new to gardening and didn’t know about trimming them back to avoid powdery mildew .

I wish my heucheras got big enough to need a cut back like yours. Usually they look good the first year then quickly get smaller and smaller each season until they're barely there.

Love watching you in your garden.❤ I’m in zone 6 but really need to plant for zone 4. We get an average of 83” snow a year. ( Cle Elum, Washington)

I'm sorry for the loss of your boxwoods, bushes can be a huge expense to replace. I don't currently have any bushes besides my hydrangeas and 3 of the candy corn spirea they are still little at this point.

so sorry about your boxwoods. I had a heartbreak this year with an 8 year old rose of sharon standard. I had three main branches and some of the branches on one of them were dead. The base of them felt almost squshy and wet and the bark was easily peeling, I Have no idea what went wrong. If it suffered damage from some high winds from a storm? So I had to take the whole branch off. Now almost a 1/4 of it is gone and it is lopsided and does not have the beautiful rounded vase shape as it did. ahh gardening never easy never a dull moment

Boxwoods can be a nightmare. In the 1960's, they were so popular here in Pennsylvania. They were on every lawn. However, they all appeared half dead all year round. As pretty as they are, I would never plant one. Just shop from your yard, to fill in the empty space with something easy and beautiful.

@@Suburbanoasis Ohio! Down here all of them have been hit. The lady that has the Gardening at Douentza channel did a show on how to treat it. It seemed like it worked well. But she said it might come back again. Thanks very much for those Saturday tours. I enjoy them very much.
