All their kids are 99% of the time barefoot outside in all weather while both adults always wear boots or shoes. Barefoot is great except around implements, buried garbage (which is all over their farm) and metal shavings in and around the shop. Barefoot should be an occasional thing not an every day, every weather thing.

A2 milk is similar to human breast milk, goats, sheep or carmel milk - this is why less people react to A2 milk - I hope the bull you used for AI was also A2 tested - here in New Zealand for the last 20 years you can choose if you want A1 or A2 milk if you are purchasing from the supermarket - we also make A2 grass fed baby formula for the babies that need it

I was so thankful to find a2 brand here in our local stores in Tennessee. I wish all of the products were available to us. I was upset though that one of my grocers has stopped carrying it making space for even more plant "milk". Not happy! But we have a fruit stand about 30 minutes away we can buy low pasteurized fresh whole milk from. We tried it and none of us had trouble digesting it, not even my son who has had major issues since he was 17. Weirdest thing, it was like a switch flipped and he suddenly had gut issues. But our goal is to have our own a2 herd!!

What you are doing with the chickens and cow pies is correct. However, you can skip a step and save a bit of tume if you feed a small amount of whole grain to your cows when you milk. Most of the whole grains go through the digestive tract and come out in the pies. The chickens will automatically take apart the cow pies and you won't have to scatter the feed on the cow pies. 😉

I did my onions, celery and eggplant like this too celery is painful to germinate but I have just under 30 plants ready to go in the ground now. No, they are not all for us. Everybody else with a garden in our very little Canadian town gets one. You just can’t beat homegrown celery in soups, stews, sauces and stock/broth. I’m growing extra his year so i can chop and freeze for winter cooking. Every year i manage to opt out on buying another type of vegetable. I love your channel. Your homestead is just blossoming. You might want to reconsider Mimosa trees.
The seeds fly everywhere and you will be pulling Mimosa sprouts from places you would think a weed could never grow. Like gutters, the air conditioning units, foundation cracks, etc.
Long after the Mimosa is dead and gone, (the branches snap off easy in high winds), there will still be Mimosa seeds sprouting up in oddball places. And, I mean as much as 25 years later.
They may be pretty but, there has to be a better option out there somewhere.

If there are any tomato plants with really exceptional qualities you like, the root ball can be dug up in the fall, wrapped in burlap and, stored in a 5 gallon bucket over winter. The only catch is, you have to find a storage location that stays consistently above 50°F.
The next year, if the acclimation process is started between St. Patrick's Day and April 1st, by Mother's Day planting out, you will be way ahead in the gardening game.

A rubber mallet is good for pounding in the stakes holding the weed barrier in place. Great plans this year! Possibly think about making a four ft. high screen made from metal chicken wire mesh with zip strips, around the trees in case of deer or whatever. Later you could top them with a bird netting to keep the birds from eating the fruits.

You work too hard. Trust me, if you do this it will be a game changer for you!!!
PS: if you do the raddish then you just cut down the tops about a month before planting time and leave the roots to rot and improve your soil.

Foraging is where chickens will peck and scratch the ground to find tasty morsels. This is how the wild ancestors of chickens would have found food scratching with their feed and pecking. Chickens do this even if they have a feeder full of food. I would like to try the vegetable row cover that turns into compost, biodegradable. The sun breaks it down. And it allows water to penetrate. It doesn't stop weeds as good, but it sounds worth trying. Your garden and orchard looks amazing.

The garden is looking fantastic you guys! I use a weed barrier that looks the same, and it is absolutely water permeable. Not only that but it seems to help retain the water. Here in Chattanooga we have had a dry spring, but everything in my garden is thriving and my entire garden is covered in the weed barrier.

Thanks for sharing. I use copper tape on the edges of my beds to help reduce the number of bugs getting into my veggies and use small hoop netting to stop bugs too in other beds. 😊

You need a fabric weed barrier that lets water through it. I remember one time my dat got a roll of carpet padding, it was the old type that was mad from a type of felt, to say the least it was a messy disaster 🥱

Drip tape it you will not regret it. You always should grow onions from seed and now what onion is best for your area. Hoss tools talks about everything onions you need to know, every sense I listened to him I have had great onion havests. Don't do mimosa trees they are what is known as trash trees and you will have them popping up everywhere even in your foudations and fencing and if you are not constantly watching them they can ruin a lot, They are invasive.

Do y'all do high tunnels for your green's? We also live in NC and it works great for us it keeps pest damage on a very low if not much at all level. We have a great harvest from doing this method and another great thing too that helps is planting mint herbs around the permiter or a stouter kind of herb. As a barrier to keep bugs away and rabbits 🐇. The beds look great 👍 😊 Hope y'all have a blessed rest of your weekend! God bless...👋🙂

I use the same type of weed barrier in my garden and it is water permeable. I cut it and leave a couple inches around each plant and have no problems. Love your new posting schedule.

Good Tomato Bed Save! 🍅. How was your asparagus this year? We are zone 7 in a long Spring and the asparagus is just now bolting. Our tomatoes got unhappy with cold nights so we talked nice to them gave them a little Dr. Earth and this week they look much better. 🌱🌞
