@@lieslgrobler4233 Hi! So they like to be watered from the bottom, since you do not want to get the stem or leaves wet. To bottom water, fill the plant tray or cache pot, and allow the soil to soak it up through the holes in the bottom of the container. Once the soil is wet, dump out any water that’s left in the tray, and allow the excess to drain completely from the pot. Never allow the plant to sit in water for an extended period of time. Cyclamens like to have their soil kept evenly moist during their active growing period. Be careful though, consistent overwatering will kill them! Hi Maxine, thanks for watching. Cyclamen should be kept moist by watering in a tray and allowing the roots to take up the water rather than watering from above the plant which can lead to rotting. Fertilize every 3-4 for weeks. Cyclamen may benefit from a complete houseplant fertilizer with added iron. To promote and prolong blooms, feed cyclamen plants with a fertilizer high in phosphorus, like 4-20-4, at the beginning of winter just as blooms start to develop. Awesome. Its going into summer here now in Australia so I expect it will drop of its blooms and leaves... correct in saying to completely leave it alone during summer in the cool place in basement WITHOUT watering? Its really OK to NOT water it for the whole of summer? Should I look at repotting in a bigger pot if it starts to look crowded as well? Cool plant and thanks for the clip.
Cyclamen is a cool season plant, so it will go dormant in hot weather. Don't completely allow it to become parched just give it minimal water during hot summer. Its ok in the basement, but water it infrequently so it doesn't become parched. No need to repot it until you bring it out again. Hope that helps.
My cyclamen plant LOVES water. If I don't water it about twice a week, it droops, and when I water it, it stands up straight. The thing is, though, the soil always feels wet, but I've learned to water it anyway. What's the story?

Hi, Eccentric Nature, Cyclamen are surprisingly hardy as outdoor winter plants. The foliage is very cold tolerant. You can cover cyclamen with agricultural cloth or blankets when temperatures fall below 30 degrees to maintain the blooms!

Hi, Net Nat! Some cyclamen bloom in the summer before the new leaves appear while others flower in the late winter or spring. Also, some will last until the following summer and then die off while the tuber goes summer dormant.
I live in Florida. My first cyclamen was so beautiful this past winter. It’s been happy on my lanai but now with the hot days it is drooping with no new blooms and a leaf yellowing. I assume it’s ready to come indoor and be dormant. How long shall I leave it dormant as we don’t have cool weather again until late October. Should I take it out of dormancy indoor then? Thank u.
Hi Joe, Thanks for watching! After a cyclamen blooms, it will transition slowly into a dormant state. The leaves will begin to yellow and wither. At this point, you should stop watering your plant, and allow the leaves to die back. Then place it in a cool, dry place for 8-10 weeks. You can put it in a cool room until the weather gets cooler in your area. To bring a rested plant out of dormancy in the fall, move it back into the light and resume your normal watering regime. Hope that helps answer your question.
Hi, great video. I have only a north window and south. I live in MA so we are in winter. My plant looks healthy but has only 1 flower ready to blossom. Which window should I use and can I use use a grow light? Thank you!
Hi Patricia, Thanks for watching. Cyclamen plants thrive best in bright filtered light. A position in full light during the winter is preferable. They thrive in cool temperatures that drop as low as 40 degrees F. at night and rise into the 60s during the day. Place them close to a bright south-, east-, or west-facing window for maximum sunlight. Hope that helps!
Hi, Thanks for watching and sharing your question. Cyclamen plants enter dormancy as a natural rest period, typically during the warmer months. When they are in this state, their leaves will start to yellow and eventually die back, signaling that the plant is conserving energy. During this time, watering should be significantly reduced or even stopped, as too much moisture can lead to root rot. Here's how you can know when to start watering them again: Watch for New Growth: Dormant cyclamen usually start showing signs of life as the temperatures cool down, often in late summer or early fall. Small leaf buds will begin to appear at the base of the tuber, signaling that the plant is ready to resume growth. Resuming Watering Gradually: Once you see new buds or small leaves, begin watering lightly to encourage growth. Increase the watering slowly as more foliage emerges, but avoid waterlogging. Optimal Light and Temperature: Cyclamen prefer cooler temperatures (50-65°F or 10-18°C), so placing them in a cool spot will help stimulate new growth. Providing indirect light also supports healthy regrowth.

Thank you for the info but should I exactly just start water my planet when October hits? Because currently it’s July and it seems that it’s going dormant
Kind of disappointing, I got a Cyclamen plant two weeks ago at Home Depot, the attendant told me that this plant can be outdoor in part sun or shade, is winter time here, temperature is in the 60's but sunny, seems to be doing fine but I guess I will have to move the plant indoors when rain seasons comes...I hope it last thru next winter!
It depends on the type of Cyclamen. If it's a Cyclamen Persicum, you need to follow what is said in this video. There are Cyclamen varieties that are far hardier and grow uncultivated almost anywhere, e.g. on garden paths, in yards, street corners etc. Shop sold Cyclamen generally are the Persicum type.
This plant lasted for months producing flowers on a window cill that got a good amount of sun for months..then put it in the yard around may and watered it every day not really know what it was.. the green leaves grew but no new flowers until today.. lets see what happens
s wondering why the leaves of my Cyclamen are drooping and making the stems really weak. There is a liquid coming out and the flowers don't blossom. It's still winter so I thought it would not go dormant just yet. Is there anything I can do about this?
Hi Natalie, Drooping leaves on cyclamen are a common symptom of heat or cold stress. The plant also prefers bright but indirect light. Plants situated in a southern window or in a hot area of the garden may suffer and indicate their distress by drooping. Droopy cyclamen flowers occur when a plant has too much water. The fact that it is oozing might indicate too much water. Hope that helps!
I bought one of these plants last week and now it's dying..im sad..wish they would survive in my home..i reported it and have it some water..then after few days it wilted and leaves were turning yellow..so I put it back in its original pot ..but the soil was not wet..i have it in my east facing windowsill but unfortunately the heater is underneath it..myabe I should move it somewhere cooler..they say you should pull out the dead stems but I tried doing that and it's hard..to get all the stem off..it just snaps off..thanks
Hi! I am sorry to hear about your cyclamen plant. Cyclamen do not tolerate excessive heat or cold so you might want to move it away from the heater. The plant also prefers bright but indirect light. Plants situated in a hot area of the garden may suffer and indicate their distress by drooping. It may have too much water. Cyclamens prefer moist soil but not soggy conditions. Make sure it is draining well and not sitting in water. They respond well to extra humidity and like to have their leaves sprayed but provide good ventilation so the leaves can dry off quickly. I hope that helps!
Great video about cyclamen. I live in Chile, I have four cyclamen plants from our autumn (last days of March here) and now in July (our winter) they are fine, but I only have a problem and I am sure you can help me. My cyclamen have a lot of flowers, but most of them are below the foliage. How can I have blooms on longer stems that stretch up above the foliage?
That's possible. When cyclamen get too much fertilizer, it can affect their ability to rebloom. another thing, after it blooms, it will go into a dormant state, which looks like it's dying, with leaves turning yellow and falling off. I have a video on their care here: ua-cam.com/video/WTBAsHK26Yk/v-deo.html
Hi Yamuna, Thanks for watching! They don't grow by cuttings, no. When you are propagating cyclamen plants, you want to use the swollen underground root called the tuber. Cyclamens reproduce via this tuber. You can propagate the plant by lifting the tuber from the soil in the fall and dividing it. Hope that helps!
Hi, it's me again. I received a cyclamen plant 2 weeks ago. I watered the plant because the soil is dry. I noticed the plant starting to wilt 2 days ago and now they are all wilted. It is winter here. What happened to my plant? Thank you.
@@fantastica1652 Another possibility is that cyclamen wilting can be a lack of water. To rehydrate a plant, stand the pot in a saucer of tepid water and let it soak up moisture from the base. After a couple of hours, tip out any water left in the saucer. In heated houses, wilting can also be due to high temperatures indoors.
Hi N Y, Droopy cyclamen flowers occur when a plant has too much water. Cyclamens prefer moist soil but not boggy conditions. Plants that are kept too wet will develop drooping leaves as well as crown rot. This results in the core of the plant being overrun by fungal disease and causes eventual plant death. It's best to let the soil get somewhat dry between waterings. When the pot feels light or the soil feels dry just below the surface, water it thoroughly and let it drain. Pour out any water left in the saucer so that the soil doesn't stay soggy. Hope that helps!
So I was gifted with a mini cyclamen that was flowering. It went into dormancy and I put it in a darker cooler place till around September. I then repotted in a larger container with potting soil and watered from the bottom. Here it is November and it hasn't grown at all . Still looks dead. I just today opened the dirt and was able to try and find the bulb, which seems to be so small I'm not sure if it is dead or not...only about a 1/4 inch if that. Is it hopeless and I should just try and get a new one? Wish I could send you a photo.

@@EdenMakers Hi! I just want to give an update on this, maybe it's helpful for someone. The colour of the flowers is changing from white to pink while they are growing. I also fertilised it and changed the way I water it. Now it is full with flowers, I enjoy it every day and I am so happy for the success. Thank you EdenMakers!

Love my cyclamen I followed your advise but for some reason my flowers are drooping, the leaves are fine what I’m i doing wrong.
I’m scared to water it to much, I have it in my bay window in the bathroom where it’s cool and not to warm and the lighting is just perfect.
This is the first time that I have a cyclamen plant. It’s also in a clay pot.
I water my plant from the dish and not on top. Please help.

I'm in Southern Ontario and just won a cyclaman and is in full bloom right now I but think it is a too small pot ( 4" ) .Can it be repotted into a 6 or 8" pot and when is the best time to do it.

Thank you for the info but should I exactly just start water my planet when October hits? Because currently it’s July and it seems that it’s going dormant
Yep exactly Digi, here's more detailed info if you want to read up on it: www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/cyclamen/cyclamen-dormant-period.htm

Thank you for watching Jhennessy 🙏
It depends on the type of Cyclamen. If it's a Cyclamen Persicum, you need to follow what is said in this video.
There are Cyclamen varieties that are far hardier and grow uncultivated almost anywhere, e.g. on garden paths, in yards, street corners etc. Shop sold Cyclamen generally are the Persicum type.
@@thewomble1509 ...Thanks for the info.

This plant lasted for months producing flowers on a window cill that got a good amount of sun for months..then put it in the yard around may and watered it every day not really know what it was.. the green leaves grew but no new flowers until today.. lets see what happens
Sounds like you have had good success! Thanks for watching!
s wondering why the leaves of my Cyclamen are drooping and making the stems really weak.
I have the best luck when I just sit it in a dish with water from the bottom. I used to kill them regularly until I found out I was watering wrong!
Awesome! 😁
yes they love being watered from the bottom!
I just bought one and is soaking in the soil should I change it
Hi, Thanks for watching. Can you be more specific what your question is? Thanks.

That’s interesting. Do you fertilize your cyclamen? It may have more to do with the variety of cyclamen than an actual physiological issue
안녕하세요👍👍♥
Thank you for watching my video!!
안녕하세요
My red cyclamen withered & the pink one is also half withered. So sad. Did i over fertilise them with urea or what? How to revitalise them??
That's possible. When cyclamen get too much fertilizer, it can affect their ability to rebloom. another thing, after it blooms, it will go into a dormant state, which looks like it's dying, with leaves turning yellow and falling off. I have a video on their care here: ua-cam.com/video/WTBAsHK26Yk/v-deo.html
@@EdenMakers 👍thanks. Appreciate it. Will try to revitalise it
@@abdulqadeerkhan2110 You got this! 💪💪
How often do you water it?
Water when soil is dry to the touch.
I love this plant but I don’t have it.
Thanks for watching Yetenayet. Cyclamen plants are commonly available during the fall and winter at your local garden center.
may this flower be planted on tropical islands?
Hi, the cyclamen are a tropical plant so it is likely yes. But to be sure, I suggest you ask at your local garden center. They will know!
@@EdenMakers thank's 😊

Can we cyclamen grow by leaf ?
Thank you.
Hi Fantastica. Is the cyclamen indoors or outdoors? If your soil is not draining well, it can cause stems to wilt just as much ad dry soil.
@@EdenMakers Thank you for your reply. It is indoors in a green pot with holes.
@@EdenMakers I used the moisture meter and it shows the soil is moist. I will do what you suggested and will give you an update. Thank you again.
@@fantastica1652 Perfect!
mine droops no matter how much I water it so that's fun.
@@EdenMakers thank you so much!!!!!
Hello friends you like a pink flower 🌹❤
Thanks for visiting
So I was gifted with a mini cyclamen that was flowering. It went into dormancy and I put it in a darker cooler place till around September. I then repotted in a larger container with potting soil and watered from the bottom. Here it is November and it hasn't grown at all . Still looks dead. I just today opened the dirt and was able to try and find the bulb, which seems to be so small I'm not sure if it is dead or not...only about a 1/4 inch if that. Is it hopeless and I should just try and get a new one? Wish I could send you a photo.
