Burstimo vs Playlist Push - Are They Worth Your Investment?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 сер 2024
- I've run music marketing campaigns with burstimo and playlist push to try and grow my fanbase and followers. I was specifically interested in playlist push because of their spotify reach and the thousands of different spotify curators they have so I could grow my own spotify streams and followers. I also really liked burstimo and how they are a full 360 music marketing agency that not only helps with spotify but pr, social, radio, and offline press too. I'll show you how much I spent on both campaigns and what the results were.

Wow $3k for 37k streams is an incredible fail here. I've spent about $3.5k on my song Chains and its over 1 million streams, from FB ads. Even my song Closer which did quite bad in ads got 75k streams for around $500.
Surprising that Burstimo went that badly considering their generally great advice on UA-cam.
It could have been my song, could have been timing, could have been lots of things but STILL with that type of investment you hope for better results. It's part of this "no guarantee" world that we live in. "Pay this, we'll do our best, but we can't guarantee results" Like you say though, I've also got significantly better results using my own facebook ads strategy too. Even using services like tone den also offer a better roi. I'd recommend to any artist to use facebook over any PR firm. You'll likely still save money if you pay someone else to it as well.
@@CharlesCleyn @Charles Cleyn Yeah for sure. However unfortunately every marketing strategy will be no guarantee if its real. Anyone that promises X result is likely running some type of scam or sketchy service. Benchmark ranges are okay though.
My general recommendation to people is if a service says 'we will get you on X playlists with X number of followers', avoid them with the assumption they're doing something sketchy. Even if they're legit they're just going to throw you on awful playlists to hit their quota so that they don't have to refund you.
For the most part I just run ads for my music nowadays though.
@@AndrewSouthworth There's some truth to this, I agree but I wouldn't say "every" marketing strategy as there is some proof to guarantee results with more traditional marketing like seo traffic, impressions on tv, etc. However, the whole spotify world, like you say, is completely f'd when someone guarantees streams. I like what you're doing on your channel though and you're obviously getting incredible results. I'll be following!
@@AndrewSouthworth nice seeing you here Andrew, personally ive never trusted burtismo they always gave off a very hopefully optimistic vibe from all their videos on youtube. Plus as much as burtismo puts its self out there youve never herd a single artist go oh yeah i leanred a lot from burtismo
What did you use to promote it
hey guys, someone is targeting this video with dilikes and negative comments, sorry about all the spam. I'll keep cleaning it up.
I'd imagine it's from a certain company that doesn't like the bad press haha. Keep up the good videos 👍
That's the reason why Im following you!
@@jakeallard1911 thanks Jake :)
@@DaSilvaEmmanuel Thanks Emmanuel :)
Damn, finding a legit promotion company is one of the hardest things in a musicians career
I was thinking the same thing
Man thanks for posting the video..that 3K is a lot.. hopefully other people will learn from this. The music game, especially the spotiy algorithm is definitely geared for labels and those with some cash to spend.
Hi Charles, Thank you for making this video brother! It was much more informative on the way that these companies operate than other vids that I've seen. I've been very skeptical of most of these "promotional" campaigns from the get go. I checked out your music and while not the type I normally reach for, I found your voice, production & songs very, very well put together and definitely enjoyed listening to your music. You are a super talented guy and I hope that you get all the success that you deserve. Keep experimenting, evolving and singing those words & melodies that are near and dear to your heart - because we can't go wrong if these musical compositions rescue us from our daily grind. Keep on keeping on!!!! 🎹💥🚀🎶🎸
Hey Skyko, that's super kind of you. I really appreciate all of your support and kind words :)
@@CharlesCleyn Of course! You are a talented and inspiring guy! : )
Great feedback- thankyou for posting this. Its also nice to see that other artists get conflicting feedback rejections from playlist curators. Keep going buddy- very talented
That Burstimo experience was brutal. What a rip off.
Sorry that it didn't work out for you Steven
Thank you so So much for going through this.
You've given an excellent perspective and given honest feedback.
Cheers from a shitty suburb outside Toronto.
I love ur channel fr , new fan
I love the in-depth review and breakdown of both services .. I think you should look at the feedback a little more though ..
Bro I know you trying to be PC about it saying "in my opinion, the results aren't so good". Bro, you got ripped off
everyone looks at the world through a different lens
@@CharlesCleyn most def, I just wanted to say it. Cuz I feel your pain and I really appreciate you sharing this information with us.
@@lupae.filius you're very welcome man
Thanks for the playlist-promotion tip. May do that one.
Thanks for the honesty and expenditure.
Thanks dude, Good info!
You’re welcome Mara :)
Charles, you are well spoken and fantastic and creating your content!
thanks very much :)
great information sir, thank you for the video
Wow I love bursitmo’s channel so that’s pretty surprising!
I could have been an outlier as well, as with everything there will be some campaigns that work and some that don't
@@CharlesCleyn yeah but even the article/press post look no better than what youd get off muso soup. Im sorry but im paying 3k and i have direct contact its not a matter of oh at least i got press. Why are you putting me on a sight that hasnt been active since 2010 and sited with broken links. Thats scam you couldnt even pull up the playlist you apparently got streams from. I dont trust burtismo at all anymore
Thank you for this!!
you're welcome, hope it was insightful
@@CharlesCleyn Yes it was
How much did you spend with Playlist-promotion? I'm curious as I'm looking to get a return on my investment as well. Thanks! :-)
I've spent different amounts with them on different campaigns. No matter what you spend you'll get a return (maybe not more than the amount you spent) but you can guarantee you'll get placements.
Hi Charles, what impresses me the most is how open you were with showcasing your process with Burstimo. In saying that, it’s also quite clear to see why the song did not fully take off which is not completely your fault to be honest. In my opinion, after listening to the song and I like your vocals by the way but I was left feeling like something was missing on the production side. Felt like you were doing a live session rather than a radio ready track, which was a shame because I could hear so much potential in the track.
As an artist myself I know the feeling of being let down on the production side of things when we feel like our songwriting and vocals are on point. Sadly it’s the combination of all that creates a radio ready song. Having said all that, I still believe you got pretty good results for quality of the song.
This was a case of the budget was too big for the quality of the song, so it ended up feeling like too much money spent.
My advice to all upcoming artist including myself is that we shouldn’t slack off on critical areas in the music production process just because we are independent. As a matter of fact being independent means our songs must actually catch the ears of the listener much faster otherwise they will skip it and move on due to the fact that we are not household names.
I’m about to begin my musical journey with my debut track and I would like to say I am inspired by your bravery to not only create and push your music but also to share your experiences with others so that they can avoid such pitfalls in future.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Cyfar, it means a lot! When is your debut coming out? Share a link when you have it, would love to listen to it.
@@CharlesCleyn It’s slated for August, I will keep you posted. One area I would love your advice on in the future is how to build a profile on UA-cam because you’ve done really well with this
@@cyfar2768 Cool man, good luck with the release and send a link when it's out!
Great post man. 100 % true
Great video, Charles! How about Playlist Pump PR agency? Has anyone had any experiences with them?
thank you :) I appreciate that. I haven't heard of playlist pump but I'll look into it.
Great video and comparison. I honestly I do not trust most of the bigger companies that charge an arm and a leg but you get minimal results. I would have been pissed in either situation if I had spent $411 and only 300 pathetic streams. And $3400 for only 37k streams is a huge rip off. I think if you're an independent artist with little to no budget then paid ads and certainly not these rip off companies will be an option for you. Organic marketing is always the way to go if you have no budget. I am on a platform that's a gold mine for relaxation music (not mentioning the name here due to saturation purposes). For other genres organic marketing on platforms such as Tik Tok and Instagram work well. It's all about what finding works well for you as an artist and sometimes it takes a long time coming up with a consistent solid strategy that works. By the way, I listened to your track Good Bye and you have talent dude. Beautiful music. It wasn't your music that was the issue, I think companies that charge an arm and a leg and deliver piss poor results are the issue.
Does anybody ever disclose whether they’ve seem royalties from these promotions?
I'm not sure if you can see the source of streams from your distributor. You can only see streaming source, for instance, spotify, apple music, etc but not where they are coming from. I suppose if you isolate a campaign with one platform then the total sales of that platform could be attributed
Great, useful content!
i have a playlist witch has 1600 like and 900 followers and i wanted to know how can i sign in this site that they accept me becuz i heard thed reject all the curators?
You are so brave, I will continue to share your videos in reddit.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate, it helps a lot :)
I know I need to promote my music but it seems I’m throwing my money away. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Just point me in the right direction please
thx for your opinion bro
Thank you so much for the review. What are all these dislikes on the video for?!!!!
Thanks Erfan! Unfortunately, the video has been hit by bots I think.. that's what I see on my end.
Not gonna lie, thought you were Nikola Jokic from the tumbnail
haha that would be funny if I got him to do the video instead
Me too😂😂😂
LOL facts
On the report it is a different logo. You sure you worked with them? Or was it a long time ago
Do they employ you? 🤔
Good to know, thank you. That money going to diy marketing like on Facebook might be a better ROI.
Couldn’t agree more Sam. Puts the power back into the artist and gets you a much better ROI. Check out Andrew Southworths channel for Facebook marketing advice for musicians.
@@CharlesCleyn Thanks!
These burstimo people talk facts but takes hell Lotta charge for promotion. Nothing works. If you ain't rich you can't make it to music nowadays. It sucks.
Definitely lots of money
@@CharlesCleyn Yes. I am struggling since 2015 and yet I remain like this hehe.
wtf i paid £5400 for a campaign with burstimo and they didn’t even pitch to radio?? and only got 26,000 streams. may i ask when you did this campaign with burstimo as i did mine about a year ago
I did this about 2 years ago now. Sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with them as well.
@@CharlesCleyn thanks for the info!
So glad I watched this. Burstimo seems like a rip off. I'm sure those websites that posted your music hardly get any real visitors.
I feel sorry about your result with Burstimo.
I hope more people could hear your experiences.
Thanks for listening :) It's all good! Always always a learning experience!
I think the music and genre is crucial to the process
definitely... quality of the song will make the biggest difference.
I’m shocked 😳 at the burstimo as I thought they were good. They ripped you off completely
There's no guarantees with promo unfortunately. No hate towards Charles whatsoever, but I think putting 3K into one pot is a really poor financial move, especially an 'all inclusive' promo company. Certainly good things can come, blog placement is useful for your EPK for example but beyond that a lot of the stuff is kind of pointless. Like those Facebook banners man... ...just spend 20 minutes on UA-cam and learn how to use some basic editing software. People are much better off putting their money into instagram ads and trying to grow organically within your scene, networking with other artists and playing live as often as possible. Also, there's plenty of indie playlist curators who you can reach out to on your own without a third party. Sure you might not get on all of them but if you send your music off to enough people then eventually something will give. I also agree with others saying this is incredibly genre specific. While Charles' music is very good, it's certainly competing with a lot more than more niche genres so it's a lot harder to stand out from the crowd. That said you need to stay true to yourself and your art, and that to me is all that matters at the end of the day. Hopefully something good is around the corner for him and others.
Could've ran insta fb and youtube ads for the same amount with better results. Also submissions to youtube curator channels and what not. 3k would have gotten you so much more
have you had experience running a campaign with burstimo, Ala?
@@CharlesCleyn nah not at all, I just have ran ads myself and gotten some pretty good results that way. I prefer it over paying to get playlisted
@@alakazam5041youtube ads keep hitting me with the “circumventing systems” even when i have given them my full identity and keep limiting the ads because i promote hip hop music videos
Damn bro spent more dollars than streams on playlist push. It's rough out there
Please do a review on OmariMC and OrionPromotion
I haven’t had enough experience with these services yet, have you?
@@CharlesCleyn I did but I have to wait and see if their royalties are paid

Is this an ad for playlist-promotion?
no it's not, just really like their team.
Charles Cleyn cool bro just checking
WOW. That's crazy. Insane what people try to do to rip us musicians off.
It’s a Wild West out there right now
Today we got spammed from #2 of your content you paid $3400 for and they had sent a denial bull email to over a few thousand artists. You saved a lot of people ALOT of issues with them.
They rejected you?
lol, those playlist from emp milano used bots, thats why they kicked, after 24 hours he will have other playlist with same amount of followers
Bro. Youre nikola jokics twin
You can do a Lyriplex Experience. Let us know if you can 😇
What is lyriplex?
@@CharlesCleyn it is marketing company who says Billie Eilish has worked with once in their homepage. I haven't used it but I guess it will be worth it than burstimo.

just some contextual information for fellow indie musicians out there
Its even worse when you find out Burstimo leaked 200+ personal emails.

Feel bad for you bro.
you have to fail to learn
From watching their videos I could tell something ain't right.
How did you figure it out... For me, I figured it out becau they were talking basic informa on how to promote music like "submit your music to major blogs through email" (by the way that doesn't work unless you are with a really big pr company that only works with celebrities, YES, celebrities
playlist hunter it's not good , the playlists you have access is limited , and always the same doesn't matter with genre are you looking for...;and they're ALL asking for money .....busrstino i don't know it
I think almost every single playlist promo company is a scam
it’s definitely important to do due diligence
u got scammed
give me 3k ill have you look like drake
heya mate hope alls well, try out omari music promotion ,theres amazing ,its quarenteed streams and you will get what you pay for ,theres no gamblwes or nonsense ,if u took a package for 15,000 streams to 150,000 streams they quareentee u the minium amount , and they keep putin u on play lists until they have reached that number ,its all legit ,there very helpful ,and hes musician him self ,check them out there got utube channels and alsorts ,thanks for the video u helped me make my mind up ,between bustimo and playlistpush, omari by far are the best ,
