Is it just me or is the gaming scene kinda lacking these days? Here I am, watching a video about a game that came out two years ago because there’s nothing “epic” in the marketplace and hasn’t been for awhile now. Might just have to boot up Skyrim again.
That's what I keep saying, gaming is in such a huge ass. Like since Cyberpunk gaming keeps failing, it's not funny anymore first it was Cyberpunk, then BF2042, then CoD Vanguard, then Callisto Protocol, then MWII and now Warzone 2.0 and next CoD that is MWIII(part 1) is already doomed to be another failure. Like come in AAA, give us a good game. My current hopes are in GTAVI and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
idk i grew up with video games from a hand me down Atari and i’ve been seriously entertained with the current lineup of ps5 games alot more than the ps4 generation maybe cause my ps4 was pre ps4 pro so I didn’t really purchase many games cause the os4 felt like a ps3 pro 🤣😂🤣
I’m currently playing AC Valhalla, and I absolutely love it. Maybe it’s the settings, the middle age era, has never failed to be attractive. Any games or movies taking place Middle age are so cool! I enjoyed the Plague Tale series, The Witcher series, The Elder Scroll series and as for movies, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
if you still wondering buying this game or not and stumped in this comment , just fricking buy it, youtube videos and people opinions prevented me playing this beautiful game for two years , and i tried it because there was a free trail on it, and i said to my self, damn all this time , and never took an internet opinion ever again , if you want to know if a game good or not, play it !! you are the one who decide 😊
Thank you! I really debate buying games that take an eternity since ever since graduating high school, and especially now in college, I have ZERO time to play anything. I have to heavily consider what I can play, and what I can finish. Summer just started and I finished the first game in my list, Ghost of Tsushima, and I would love to play this game before the summer ends but I am afraid if I start it (just like Oddessy) the world and content will be so massive it’s unrealistic to beat it playing it normally
Complete Edition is literally $20.99 for 24 hours in the Playstation Store right now. Otherwise, it is $149.99 or something like that. Came here to see if I wanted to purchase it. I will go ahead and do so. Thanks!
I think Valhalla looks pretty cool and I don’t consider it to be an AC game I consider it to be itself like a whole different game which is prolly why I enjoy it more then others
I felt the same about black flag. Bad AC game, awesome pirate game. Valhalla isn't as good as black flag, but it's still fun playing a viking in those times. What I do notice though is that the combat, climbing, movement, etc all feel more clunky. I can definitely tell that they didn't give this game as much of a polish as previous titles I've played...
So what a Ac game then buddy?! What make a game a Ac one huh? Let’s see we have stealth, assassins, exploring, it has everything that any other ac game basically have! So I never understood this idiotic idea of it “not being a ac game” 🤡
I just wish the music to be permanent while exploring the world. It would make the act of simply exploring the landscape a reward in itself, like Skyrim. The OST is incredible.
Awesome review man. Most people click on these videos looking to enjoy either a hate or love campaign, but it was nice to hear thoughtful takes about the good and bad elements that the game has to offer.
It was an amazing Vikings game, the best one ever. Not sure why people keep complaining about it. The content is endless. And it looks beautiful. What’s not to love? The story is pretty basic but not bad per se, it’s just not emotionally gripping. But still better than 90% of recent Marvel movies.
@@piotrmontgomerytv7786I mean, Origins at least felt more like an Assassin's Creed title. It may have been an RPG, but it wasn't as bloated as the games after it. And it's style, story, and characters made it feel more like AC. The whole selling point was about how the Brotherhood started. Plus, the first game was in the Middle East, so Egypt is a close enough atmosphere.
I agree. It's an amazing Viking game. When I think of the Middle East though I like more Prince of Persia, as in I'd like there to be more story line and a bit more linear. So Mirage I'll be open but very hesitant (at least at first). I'm a weird one where I'd get this game (Valhalla) and then get the new Prince or Persia game on switch instead of the next AC Mirage lol....to be completely honest games like Van Helsing and more on Xbox I liked the Northern Europe scenery and explorative. And games like Aladdin were set in Middle East and more linear. So maybe that's what set my brain up for both ways. I also have descent in both so it's cool to go back in time like that. Valhalla was really accurate to the period in time in Europe...looking to see what they'll do with Mirage...
I’m going to give a simpler review for people in my situation. If you’ve just watched Vikings or the last kingdom and you want a game to play after you finish bingeing the series …. This is everything you need . Spark a blunt and play the last kingdom soundtrack in the background and you won’t be found for hours
I enjoyed Odyssey alot, Greece was fun and there was so much to entertain me. Valhalla was lacking, even in mystery and weapons. I felt like a slow turtle just mauling soilders. The best was the Enzio trilogy, the storyline, weapons, shops, won me over. I do hope Mirage brings it back.
@@LeonJohnson-yi3hg Valhalla was good, open world. I thought they should have incorporated the Gods of Valhalla in the Main Story line instead of the fast traveling back and forth. It did have that mystery, interesting weapons were lacking, I felt. Maybe not for others. Playing Mirage makes me appreciate Valhalla more and it's expansive storyline. It's Good i
@@LeonJohnson-yi3hg decent yes , great no , the story got some extremly boring parts , side activites werent that interesting either , the combat was far too basic for such a long game and the leveling/progression and it was really favoured over the stealth , the character progression was absolute garbage with no build variety and percentage increments that never got me hyped to level up , the game can be a good time but id never call it a great experience
A very comprehensive & enticing take on this polarizing game in the iconic series! With each review I watch from you I am infinitely impressed, making your channel among the finest on YT! Keep up the fantastic work my friend, cheers!
I agree wholeheartedly. The best gaming experiences I've had, were when I went into games blind without having any idea of what they would bring. Bloodborne was one of those for me. It was my first soulsborne, and I had no clue what I got myself into. All the pre-release breakdowns and showcases just takes away from that freshness. Then tuck on all of the markers and map icons... I'm out before I even got started. In witcher 3 I disabled all markers besides main quest and that made the game infinitely better. I wasn't just checking off a list, but actually went into the world to explore it. This is something the devs have to learn. We don't need handholding. We can figure things out on our own. Much like in Morrowind where you had to pick up a note after someone fell from the sky... only to find clues where you had to discover landmarks and explore to continue the quest. This has has been lost in the new design, and it saddens me.
nobody appreciates how well they integrate the historical stuff into their games. Valhalla is an absolute beast at doing that. Odyssey the same. Origins, same. There's no other simulation better done than AC games, that give you a feel of how those times "felt".
Here’s my take on assassin’s creed Valhalla if anyone could care to read enough it’s a really good game in my opinion almost every single part of the game is screenshot worthy it’s absolutely gorgeous. The combat is fun the stories entertaining and once again, it is a absolutely gorgeous, open world, but that’s what it does and it does that perfectly. In my opinion it is a really good Viking game but you slap assassin’s creed in front of that and it sucks when I bought assassin’s creed Valhalla I expected to play a kick ass, assassin’s creed game set an a Viking time, but I ended up playing a kick ass Viking game and completely forgot I was playing a assassin‘s creed game. I feel like if they re-branded this game as Ubisofts Valhalla. Instead of assassins, Creed Valhalla, it would work a lot better because it truly is a stunning and very fun game but it’s a very fun Viking game not a fun assassin’s creed game.
Oh yea they should've left the AC name out of it. Same for Black Flag, and maybe also Oddysey? And Far Cry: Primal should also just not have had the Far Cry title. I feel like Ubisoft thought those games wouldn't sell unless they put the name of one of their big franchises on it.
@yungvinnii Well too bad. That's what it is. There is no single concrete definition of "this X game isn't an X game." It's a general feeling when playing the game, that it's nothing like earlier installments or the original game, and could just as well have been a stand-alone game instead.
I was never an AC fan. Too much “discover this part of the map” gameplay. However, this game is honestly amazing. It might be too different for true fans, but as someone who loves medevil/viking era games, this one continues to keep me coming back.
I want to buy this game and i know its not going to be so stealthy but i wanna buy it because i wanne be a Viking and all of that i wonder if the combat is good can you answer that fornme ?
i just played the "modern trilogy" AC games this year and i thought this one was gonna be the one i was gonna dislike the most cuz of the reviews but am absolutely loving it... Origins, Oddisey and Valhala are solid fun games for me...too much of a stretch from AC games though 7/10... looking at them as spinoffs ..? 10/10.
This game looks and sounds amazing. Im actually convinced that if they would have released it as just ¨Valhalla¨, then people would have loved the game.
See my personal opinion on this game is this, it's not a assassin's creed game, it's a viking open world game with assassin mechanics. I'm actually more drawn towards the visual aspect of the game and the views and enjoying the snow and atmosphere of being a viking more than playing the game. You have to take this game with a extremely slow approach and sort of kick back and just enjoy the scenery sort of game. Yes there is action and story but the overwhelming amount of space in this game sort of forces you to just slow down or to stop playing which isn't what assassin's creed is about. My review out of 10 is a solid 6. It's a good viking open world game but not a good addition to assassin's creed storyline. Would i buy it? As a assassin's creed game no, as a viking rpg game yes. Its sort of backwards and it sometimes grinds my gears even while playing this game.
There are very little Assassin elements in this game imo. Its a hack n slash viking game littered with microtransactions. Every AC game past Syndicate is complete trash imo.
i loved a lot of the old ac games but none since origins, but on sale for $20 or less this is a solid entry, there is a lot to like here for what it is
I’m enjoying hunting down the order. It’s a little old school as it’s based on written clues without giving you the answer 100% explicitly. Great video though. And very fair comments.
I put 180 hours into Valhalla and the first two DLCs, attempting to platinum them. I eventually gave up and still ask myself once in a while, what the hell was I thinking?! I thought Eivor's male voice actor was great, being a little softer and more thoughtful than you would expect from a viking. I also liked how they turned each region into a story arc, making it easy to pick up and play for a while without losing the whole story thread if you put the game down for a while. In any case, I mainly play AC games to be transported back in time anyway. I finished Freedom Cry, the expansion to Black Flag. It was cool to be back in that world. Now I've started AC III and Rogue. Open worlds are back on my menu, apparently. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with Mirage!
I remember you saying in the past Zane. You're a big AC fan but Valhalla can demoralise even the most hardened AC fans with its gameplay loop! Like you said, I'm really looking forward to seeing where they take Mirage though!
Overall male Eivor has a bit like a too candy personality. Like it doesn't really fit a Viking, it is great for Bayek but if you want to play as Viking you want to play as a terrifying badass with a mysterious personality and many secrets.
@@piotrmontgomerytv7786 Yes, but the stereotypical viking warrior wouldn't have the intelligence or temperament to play politics and unite nation-states. I think they balanced his noble warrior aspect with empathy and even-handedness well.
To be brutally honest. I'm nordic, and the design and the whole concept for me? Is honestly breathtaking, i can sense the brutality of my ancestors as of they would've been back around 800 AD. It's not all the game play for me, but the historical part that sails me away for a better experience! Its well written, and focused on a proper Nordic note to make everyone feel like a Vikings!
I've only really played Assassin's Creed 3 and black flag and I just recently got Valhalla and I was blown away by it I was surprised that this was even Assassin's Creed I love it, it was amazing I love it 😮
I like the last 3 games so much more than anything before them, but that's because they don't feel like Assassin's Creed. I can get this similar feeling from other games like Far Cry but I honestly feel for classic AC fans who haven't had much to turn to lately. So I think back to their roots with Mirage is probably the right move, but I'm selfishly a little disappointed to see it lol
I've been saying for years I like the past two AC's because they DONT feel like the OG AC. And it's not like I didn't like them, just wasn't my style. I bought the first two near release . Condolences to OG fans though.
@@Mont3000 Same. I can see that the original AC games were good. I played 2 for a few hours. But they just weren't for me. Then Black Flag came out. Awesome pirate game. Not a good AC game though. Kinda similar with Valhalla. I see it as a viking rpg instead of an AC game. And so far I'm enjoying it. (bought it this steam sale.)
4:54 "Magnus Bruun (male Eivor) is a Danish actor known for a variety of roles across film and television, most recognized for his portrayal of Cnut, a very badass viking in The Last Kingdom." For that reason, Magnus was the perfect fit for male Eivor. I think you have waaay higher standards tho.
My biggest complain is that exploration is simply not rewarding. In Origins and Odyssey - hate the loot as much as you want - but at least there was reward for exploration was pretty much always a cool weapon or piece of armor waiting for you. Fighting enemies also had a chance to drop loot so combat was equaly rewarding. In Valhalla... You go into some cool location, explore the sh*t out of it just to find... 1 piece of some upgrate material and that's pretty much it. I get that some folks complain about the amount of loot in Odyssey but Origins, IMO, had the right balance.
I loved Odyssey. One of my favorite games. I never thought of it as an AC game really so that helped maybe. Because when I think of my favorite AC game I think Black Flag. Didnt finish Origins because I got bored. Only one in the series I haven’t finished. Valhalla complete edition is on sale which brought me here. Might check it out but the overwhelming pointless content I keep hearing about is keeping me from hitting that purchase button. I loved every minute of Odyssey so much as it’s own game that every time I got pulled out of the animus I got confused and remembered “oh yeah… this is AC”
If expectations weren't set so high bc of how great the previous 2 games AC Origins & AC Odyssey were, I feel like Valhalla would have felt okay instead of underwhelming as it was
Even though i'm a year late to this video, i absolutely loved Valhallha i can't deny it, if you play the game at your own pace and don't rush it then you'll have an amazing experience in my opinion, and i never bought the DLC's! with those i'd have even more to try, i just wanted to check everything, i got every weapon, every piece of armor, this game for me was an absolute blast! i think most people disliked it because they wanted it to play it at a fast pace or simply wanted something different.
I actually don't get the part of activities you mentioned. Valhalla was actually the first Ac game where on the map there's only a sign and you actually don't know which kind of activity you will find there. At 1:90. And honestly for me Valhalla side quest where among the funniest and most interesting in the entire franchise
So I just fired up AC Valhalla last week, this is my third attempt at getting through the game. I sat for a few hours playing on my PS5 and I'm like man this looks great in 60fps. I'm traveling by boat, climbing eagle points, killing people, I'm like yea - this feels good....... Then I'm spending 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get inside of a small house because there's a gold marker, only to find out the entrance to said house is in a cave 5 miles away from where I am....and I'm like - yea this is why I stopped lol. I'm just gonna suck it up and use UA-cam when I get stuck. The good outweighs the bad and I really wanna live in this world for a while :)
One of my favorite tv shows is Vikings. If you forget the fact that this is an Assassins Creed game and think of as a Vikings tv show video game I think it will enhance the game a bit. I got super hyped when I met Ragnar's sons and also found Ragnar's death easter egg.
I’m currently watching Vikings on season 4 and I love it. I’m going to norway because of it Should I buy this or god of war ragnarok? Thanks in advance
@@rbrb2224 You should go with AC Valhalla since your watching Vikings. I think you'll appreciate the game a little more. I highly recommend you play Ragnarok after; its very good.
There not. They have a RPG AC set in feudal Japan coming soon. I heard they will have 2 teams for now on 1 working on RPG and the other working on classic ac
Just played Mirage I did Valhalla when it came out but never beat it so now I’m excited to go back to it. Honestly Mirage was okay but I missed the RPG aspect of these games
It took me 190 hours to complete all of odyssey (100%) and I was so fed up with ubisofts open world games, but after seeing Mirage I wanted to continue to play and finish all ac games. And altho I am stuck at ac3 I bought valhalla and all add ons a few weeks ago. I just hope that valhalla wont take as long as odyssey but I guess they are the same (content wise, or stuff to do).
What do you know? I 'picked up' the game thanks to Ubisoft making it free for the weekend of August 11-14th. I went in with somewhat of a 'negative' perspective/not expecting too much of it after watching some reviews since it came out, and I actually found myself really enjoying it. As I'm writing this comment, I'm debating whether I should buy the base game or not (just the vanilla, I don't really do DLCs) It's currently on sale for 15 USD (around 22 for me due to currency exchange) and I'm, like, 60/40 in favor of doing it I was only able to make it to around 43% of the main campaign. It is nothing to write home about and I personally enjoyed the God of War: Ragnarok reimagining of the Norse Mythology way more. Granted, I no longer see the RPG saga as "Assassin's Creed" games but as a simple "Ubisoft turn-your-brain-off RPGs". With that mindset, I fairly enjoyed the Viking power fantasy. Yes, it is _as_ if not even _more_ bloated than Odyssey and Origins, but I kinda liked it.
it blows my mind that they still bother doing the modern day story in assasins creed. It just takes me completely out of it. It was cool in the very first game to me because i was like 10 years old and it was essentially a story gimmick yet theyve stuck with it all these years. Literally every single person ive spoken to about the IP, have all agreed that they should just remove it and focus 100% on the historical settings.
Yeah but that would literally destroy the entire plot of the entire series.. the issues in the modern day and the story there is the reason you go back in time to begin with.. if that wasn’t there yeah you would just be a random person playing as another person in history 🤷♂️ not saying you can’t do it but the story in the modern day the fight between the assassins and templars coming up to the end of the world is what gives the player motive to dive back in time to find answers..
@@captainjskip5822 if i was in charge over at ubisoft, i would get assassins creed to completely remove the modern day setting and just do what the games are anyway, games about assasins and templars across different historical settings.
Doing that would remove the entire incentive of the series. The story of each game would be completely changed and for the worse. The whole point is to go into the animus and retrieve information of the pieces of eden through those memories to save the modern world from those who wish to use that power for unjust reasons. it's died off and took a path that isn't so engaging or interesting so I see the hate towards, but again without the modern-day story there would be no story.
@@Soot_38 how? the incentive is ultimaitely just about being an assassin in different periods of history. The whole sotry about the ancient aliens or whatever is just objectively a trash story. Literally not a single person plays the AC games for the modern day plot lol.
@@mrsswindon how? I just explained it. You would know this as well if you played the games. Without the modern story we would have no reason to be going into the animus. They lay it out very clearly as to why you’re an assassin. And definitely not saying that people would only play them for the modern story. Like I said I understand the hate. Its not the most well done story, but without it there would be no assassin’s creed. Yes you’re an assassin a majority of the time but there’s a reason as to why. Again the incentive is finding the pieces of Eden through the simulated memories of specific blood lines that have come into contact with those pieces and know where they are hidden so those in the modern day Brotherhood can find them and keep them safe. This is the plot of the entire series. So please tell how they would rewrite every single game and make it better in your eyes if they removed the actual plot?
I think the game oddly fits the bill. Vikings weren't exactly ninja like in their stealth. They were definitely more the John Wayne waltz right into town weapons blazing overpowering with brute strength type. So I think they made the right game, just maybe for the wrong subject. Also, I really like that the game is huge and stuff like River Raids and big castle assaults definitely felt new to me.
Same I loved it. People just complain because it's not like old assassins Creed game. They don't want a big open world and complain about making the character play the way you want. They just wanna stealth. Valhalla is my favorite cause it gave me the option to play how I want.
Started in 2023 and it’s pretty good so far. I heard there was an update that allowed people to keep their hood up. Not gonna lie if that wasn’t an option that would have pissed me off.
Never played this game or odyssey when they came out. Went back and played odyssey and it’s one of the best games I’ve played. I had to force myself to play this game for a few hours before giving up and deleting it….
Tl;dr: In my heart of hearts I want to love and and adore AC Valhalla, but it goes on for way too long without giving anything meaningful. I started the series with Black Flag, so my view was always that this is a series, that lets you experience historically interesting lifestyles with added assassin shenanigans. As such playing a mercenary in Odyssey was very fun for me. The different places felt very distinct, but culturally coherent. England in Valhalla felt like the same 3 towns with 2 variations of ruins and a whole lot of fluff. And I'm saying that as someone who should love what Valhalla gives and be at best indifferent towards ancient greece. As a fan of the whole viking wibe, the making friends all across england story should have been great. Exploring england on horse, sailing up river and raiding monasteries, sneaking around towns and halving their numbers before an assault, blending in with the cape, playing dice and drinking should have been the most fun I have ever had in a game. And it was for like 30 hours. Then it went on for 60 more, I got a unicorn bear that has a rainbow trail, somehow one of my raider dudes I got from another player turned out to be a Final Fantasy character and I was nowhere near the end of the story.
People/gamers(especially old school ones) can't understand one thing about Assassin's creed ''RPG trilogy'. It's impossible to make a game, a movie EVERYTHING IN LIFE just they way it was. ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA: HIDDEN BLADE✅ ASSASSIN BASIC COSTUME AND MULTIPLE OG ASSASSIN COSTUMES WITH NO LEVELS✅ THE BEST PARKOUR IN SO MANY YEARS IN THE FRANCHISE(ALMOST THE SAME WITH SYNDICATE)✅ OTHER ASSASSINS IN THE GAME✅ REALLY NICE STEALTH SYSTEM✅ What else do you want in order for this game to be an ''AC GAME''? Literally re- release the first Assassin's creeds? You people are so obssesed with the first AC games that will mind an upgrade just because it isn't in the og ac's. That's nearly unhealthy. Grow up, accept that gaming is evolving in all terms and then you will really enjoy the new assassin's creed games. Ubi milked the crap out of Ezio and Altair just for the fans to be happy. There is nothing more to do with the old ac world. The franchise is moving on and on. You people don't. Stick with 1,5 century old games
You hit the nail on the head! I couldn't agree more, i thought the rpg elements was a well needed change for the ac games. The old ones were good but because of lack of change it got stale and thats why i love the newer games. They are different.
kudos to mind which is entertained by mediocre garbage for 200 hours. this game shoud end around 20 hours, you basicly played 180 hours of padding and doing same shit over and over. oh wait thats every AC ever.
@@RobPlayingVideoGames well i have good news for you, theres about 10 AC games for you rdy to explore all basicly copy/pasted. seems like you are about to enjoy around 2000 hours of gameplay 😏
@@critical-thinker666 bruh, if u don't like AC, nobody got a gun pointed at u to play the game. Stop the hate dude. Some of us r very patient nd like to play at our own pace doin quests, xplorin nd what not. If u can't do that, nobody stoppin ya to play some other game.😶😶
Black Flag to me, was the best overall of the series, based on the stealth play and most of all, the naval battles. Odyssey, however, has had the most engaging story and dialogue of almost any game I've ever played. AC really needs to go back to the stealth mindset rather than the "one man army" gameplay. Maybe an AC: Ronin? AC:Ninja or Shinobi? The fight mechanics need to change from button mashing to something more involved, like the first in the Batman Arkham series, or better yet, Sifu. Just don't skim on the story and dialogue!! Oh and Ubisoft, in case you read this, we don't really care about the animus. We know that you're based in Quebec and Jean-Dominique loves his coffee; it just doesn't advance the story. Also.. to ALL game developers: please eliminate cutscenes that last 10 minutes that we can't skip through simply to "press x" to salute, open door, pour drink, etc. it's boring and takes away our interaction and interest.
I 100% agree with you on the hopes of newer assassins creed games I hope they go back to more stealth rather than just brute force combat I loved assassins creed games for the stealth and the movement like climbing from building to building
The combat and dual wield combination were the strong side of AC Valhalla. In my opinion, the story was better than Odyssey but not as good as its predecessor AC Origin.
My ranking of AC games on PS4: 1) AC Black Flag 2) Odyssey 3) Origins 4) etc... Last Place) Sadly Valhalla, as it's the most buggy and awkward AC game🪲🕷️
The problem I had with this game, and I know it sounds like im looking a gifted horse in the mouth here, but i feel like theres to much to do, i have this thing that, before i leave a zone or something i have to explore every single thing on the map, and on this game the map is huge, and theres so many dots, so many dots, and, again I know I sound stupid, at some point it was very boring , just going from dot to dot. I kinda felt overwhelm, if this game was like 20% or 25% smaller it would be perfect.
I personally feel like if you dont compare Valhalla to other AC games and don't even view it as one, you'll find it's actually a very solid viking RPG. I think that if Project Red had released this as "Very Cool Viking RPG 2020" it would've faced less criticism aside from the lackluster story and the shit ton of useless side content.
Don't kid yourselves people, Mirage is NOT going back to its roots. We'll never see another game like the classics. AC wouldn't be in the state it is if they hadn't released Unity in an unfinished state back in the day. That alone is the reason we now have to deal with games that have the AC stamp on them without having anything like the originals in them. If Unity was released in a finished state without the atrocious bugs then I'm willing to bet Syndicate wouod have gotten the better reception it deserved and we probably would have gotten more great games like Unity and Syndicate instead of open world repetitive action games claiming to be rpgs while not being anything like an actual action rpg. Loot and poorly implemented pointless skill trees DO NOT make an rpg. Although the fighting mechanics are fun in the "rpg" ac games for a little while, and the graphics are pretty, they are not good games overall. Its sad, AC was an original singlular gameplay experience that now has an identity crisis because it doesn't know if it wants to be Shadow of Mordor or the Witcher 3 or both with the AC logo on the box. Funny how Ubisoft didn't realize they had a original great franchise that everyone else wish they had created just to try and copy some other games and doing a piss poor job at copying them too I might add. R.I.P. AC.
I really like Valhalla while not as good as odyssey but as a first timer in the assassin creed world I had a easier time learning to play Valhalla than Odyssey as much as I loved the world ubisoft isnt good at making rpgs with what they're trying to do sometimes less is better
AC Valhalla is probably one of my favourite games, so much hate for a almost perfect game in my eyes, was literally mind blown while playing this and seeing how beautiful it looked
Played when it first came out and never finished it,after this review I re-download it I forgot it was even in my library.Gonna start from the beginning and hopefully finish this time around
I just baught this for £28 instead of £116 for the everything included edition. I played a bit of the game, turned it off. Played again and the lipsync is slightly off with cutscene voices. We had Egptian, Spartan, Viking simulator. The next is Japan Samurai simulator after the new game. I asume. I mean they can create a prequel game with the ancient beings that created the apple of eden and other objects. When mankind escaped enslavement etc.
I just got it, it’s my first ac game and I’m loving it so far. The only part I don’t like is that It randomly cuts to the modern day and it doesn’t make any sense.
I just started playing AC games. Started with Origins and finished that...now almost done with Odyssey. I've debated playing Valhalla since I know it got mixed reviews but think I'll give it a shot. I'm obviously not as attached to the history or style of past AC games...plus it's now pretty cheap for the entire expanded edition.
I'm currently playing Valhalla. The world is really good. Unfortunately, the motion cap on the characters wasn't given as much attention and looked half ass. Many of the side content was not engaging and was obvious bloat. At least in Origins, the side activities kept you engaged, unlike the stupid baseball type reference in Valhalla, and dam flying papers. I don't mind the RPG style AC games. In fact my first game was Odyssey and I liked it so much I bought the entire series. Also a lot of the voice acting in Valhalla was sub par. I'm ok with change, but most of the change in Valhalla was just unnecessary. It's not a bad game, but it certainly isn't a great game.
Great review, removed it from my cart, some comments on the dlc would be nice, with these 'playing games years later' type videos the dlc comes with the game for like $5 extra
This was my go to game when I wanted to sit back, drink a sixer and chill. I just wish it had new game plus, I wouldn't mind doing another playthrough, o well.
If you’re really craving the og AC games just play the old games, don’t treat this as a stealth game if you find it hard, although it’s possible, and if you think the game is dumb just increase he difficulty, I really like this game one of the best purchases I made, don’t listen to random reviewers, if it wasn’t for difference of choice shops will collapse
I didn't understand every reviewer's rating of "a good viking game, but not a good Assassins Creed game" until I actually played it. I uninstalled it after 8 hours of play because there was very little ways to actually play as assassin. When you go raiding, you announce your attack and lose all stealth. Contrast that with Black Flag's fortress battles where you scale the enemy fortress and attack it from within.
i was playing AC valhalla for 40 hours and took a break to play elden ring for 8-10 hours. It was my first souls game and the amount of content, discovery I had in elden ring for 10 hrs made me realize how boring & repetitive AC valhalla was (much like Odyssey). I uninstalled it instantly and played Elden ring for 220 hours.
I just see nothing but bad reviews about bugs and shit when i look in the microsoft store .. can anyone tell me if there is still any problems with the game ?
50 hours in and absolutely love the game, but get the issues, and honestly feel its enjoyment is highly subjective which one could say about any game tbf but I do feel its not a game you want to main or binge start to finish. I play it for an hour or two every other day, and usually after playing other games, atm the Dark Souls series as I work towards a reroll in Elden Ring. In that context its like a palette cleanser from the sweaty play they bring, to a much more basic yet enjoyable combat system and friendlier world to explore with an awesome aesthetic, music, and varied things to do, while as others have called out its essentially a Vikings the show simulator and if that's your itch, this game will definitely scratch it. I just feel its better consumed in short bites, and to binge on it will inevitability make one sick, hence a lot of backlash at release. THALLL!!!!
It doesnt matter if you people "think" its an AC game it IS an AC game... you work with Assassin's to hunt the Templars.. you sneak and kill.. Not all Assassin's are apart of the brother Hood. Assassin is a huuuuuuge blanket title.. any warrior can be Assassin its a skill type this game is about A Viking Assassin. Its an Assassin creed game. By Genre by definition by every factor.
Good game, really enjoyed it the first 20 hours, but half way through it just got tedious. Same "go to this region and capture it" the side quests were more entertaining. Main quest was a chore
Is it just me or is the gaming scene kinda lacking these days? Here I am, watching a video about a game that came out two years ago because there’s nothing “epic” in the marketplace and hasn’t been for awhile now. Might just have to boot up Skyrim again.
Definitely lacking
I can't find a good game man
I did see a new game ...but on pc sadly I don't have a good pc..but the new starship troopers extermination looks good check that out 😊
That's what I keep saying, gaming is in such a huge ass.
Underrated comment! This should be at the top.
The world is beautiful. Great graphics and lighting.
Thanks!
@@davidwhite206same here!
I think Valhalla looks pretty cool and I don’t consider it to be an AC game I consider it to be itself like a whole different game which is prolly why I enjoy it more then others
Thats how I looked at Odyssey. I just imagined the game as it was; a video game tale from the book and I loved Odyssey still one of my favorites
It's just you! ELDEN RING!!!! diablo 4. Now we got final fantasy 16. What the he'll do u even want man?!?!?!
@@PowerlifterRich I want starfield
Play the last kingdom soundtrack in the background
Awesome review man. Most people click on these videos looking to enjoy either a hate or love campaign, but it was nice to hear thoughtful takes about the good and bad elements that the game has to offer.
It was an amazing Vikings game, the best one ever. Not sure why people keep complaining about it. The content is endless. And it looks beautiful. What’s not to love? The story is pretty basic but not bad per se, it’s just not emotionally gripping. But still better than 90% of recent Marvel movies.
Ur right it’s a amazing Viking game but it is a bad assassin creed game
Combat. Combat is reason why i played it for about 7 to 8 hours and droped cuzz when i hit enemy i dont feel like it was real hit it looks so clunky
"endless content" is meaningless if that content is boring .
Spark a blunt and play the last kingdom soundtrack in the background and you won’t be found for hours
this is perfect bro, blazin whilst playin this game is fucking sick and watching tlk gives me the best vibes
This is the kind of advice I wanna hear.
Valhalla was great
@@LeonJohnson-yi3hg
Valhalla was good, open world.
@@cykablyat3680 you’re entitled to your opinion, but I unapologetically love Valhalla lol
Unfortunately ac mirage is bad :(
A very comprehensive & enticing take on this polarizing game in the iconic series! With each review I watch from you I am infinitely impressed, making your channel among the finest on YT! Keep up the fantastic work my friend, cheers!
Cheers Vinnie! Really appreciate the support my friend! Top man.
Tip: Go to settings and activate hood up at all times & activate 1 hit assassinations. You're welcome
Aight, bet.
I feel like Ubisoft thought those games wouldn't sell unless they put the name of one of their big franchises on it.
what exactly do you mean by “not an AC game?” i’m new to AC, Origins is my game rn and Valhalla is dope too
@@yungvinnii meaning it doesn't play like an AC game. Or at least not like the first two games, for instance.
@@Sanquinity terrible explanation
Love the combat in this game. It's is bloody gruesome. Very long game though. Still having fun with it.
i just played the "modern trilogy" AC games this year and i thought this one was gonna be the one i was gonna dislike the most cuz of the reviews but am absolutely loving it... Origins, Oddisey and Valhala are solid fun games for me...too much of a stretch from AC games though 7/10... looking at them as spinoffs ..? 10/10.
So Viking wise its a good game ? Im thinking of buying it
This game looks and sounds amazing. Im actually convinced that if they would have released it as just ¨Valhalla¨, then people would have loved the game.
I agree if u look at it as a stand alone viking game its pretty amazing
If you were to consider as a viking game what would rate it 1/10?
i loved a lot of the old ac games but none since origins, but on sale for $20 or less this is a solid entry, there is a lot to like here for what it is
The male Ivor was played by an actor that played a viking on TV and a damn a good one. He sounded much better than anyone else
Cnut the last kingdom
@piotrmontgomerytv7786 you must have never watched the last kingdom. Male eivor has the voice of cnut off the last kingdom and its amazing!!
This is a great game just like Origins and Odyssey.

@@Mont3000 Same. I can see that the original AC games were good. I played 2 for a few hours. But they just weren't for me. Then Black Flag came out. Awesome pirate game. Not a good AC game though. "Magnus Bruun (male Eivor) is a Danish actor known for a variety of roles across film and television, most recognized for his portrayal of Cnut, a very badass viking in The Last Kingdom." For that reason, Magnus was the perfect fit for male Eivor.
Shuut up.. ODYSSEY BEST GAME EVEEER MADE...3000h in ODYSSEY😂😂😂

I went back and played it recently too and I still LOVE Odyssey, so much fun@@zicuvalentin2251
If they didn’t put AC before the Valhalla it would’ve been a whole different reception
As an assassins creed game i'd say it's kinda lackluster but still good, as an rpg it's pretty good
One of my favorite tv shows is Vikings. If you forget the fact that this is an Assassins Creed game and think of as a Vikings tv show video game I think it will enhance the game a bit. I got super hyped when I met Ragnar's sons and also found Ragnar's death easter egg.
May aswell cherish it whilst it’s here yes, but i’d rather have an assassins creed game that is actually assassins creed come out

What do you know? I 'picked up' the game thanks to Ubisoft making it free for the weekend of August 11-14th.
I went in with somewhat of a 'negative' perspective/not expecting too much of it after watching some reviews since it came out, and I actually found myself really enjoying it.
As I'm writing this comment, I'm debating whether I should buy the base game or not (just the vanilla, I don't really do DLCs)
It's currently on sale for 15 USD (around 22 for me due to currency exchange) and I'm, like, 60/40 in favor of doing it
I was only able to make it to around 43% of the main campaign.
I brought this game a month ago along with all the DLC's , I loved this game and all the DLC's I'm glad I brought it!
Same I loved it. People just complain because it's not like old assassins Creed game. They don't want a big open world and complain about making the character play the way you want. They just wanna stealth. Valhalla is my favorite cause it gave me the option to play how I want.
Mines coming this week. Can’t wait!

Never played this game or odyssey when they came out. Went back and played odyssey and it’s one of the best games I’ve played. I had to force myself to play this game for a few hours before giving up and deleting it….
That's unfortunate. The game is actually really enjoyable when you make it out of norway and get into the real main story

Well? .. should you buy it in 2023 or not? You didn't answer your own question.
I loved the endless content in odyssey and valhalla
ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA:
HIDDEN BLADE✅
ASSASSIN BASIC COSTUME AND MULTIPLE OG ASSASSIN COSTUMES WITH NO LEVELS✅
THE BEST PARKOUR IN SO MANY YEARS IN THE FRANCHISE(ALMOST THE SAME WITH SYNDICATE)✅
OTHER ASSASSINS IN THE GAME✅
REALLY NICE STEALTH SYSTEM✅
What else do you want in order for this game to be an ''AC GAME''?
Vikings theme done to death? I need a list of viking games (to play)
Agree. There is hardly anyone out there.
This might be the best current one tbh. God of war also if it counts 😂
Play Valheim!!!
@@NickyDiesel it does not
@NickyDiesel I'd rather be Norse, not Greek. Fuck God of War.
I love this game, like Skyrim I played this SO much, best Viking game you can get!
i’m 191 hours in and im still excited to play it, currently i’m on the dlc of wrath of the druids after I just finished Sigurd’s story
kudos to mind which is entertained by mediocre garbage for 200 hours.
this game shoud end around 20 hours, you basicly played 180 hours of padding and doing same shit over and over. oh wait thats every AC ever.
@@critical-thinker666 yeah and i didn’t even mind it
@@RobPlayingVideoGames well i have good news for you, theres about 10 AC games for you rdy to explore all basicly copy/pasted.
seems like you are about to enjoy around 2000 hours of gameplay 😏
@@critical-thinker666 bruh, if u don't like AC, nobody got a gun pointed at u to play the game. Stop the hate dude. Some of us r very patient nd like to play at our own pace doin quests, xplorin nd what not. If u can't do that, nobody stoppin ya to play some other game.😶😶
@@Sidhu_Rajanpreet i did that buddy,i last 7 AC games 😂 they wasnt 200 hours long tho.
they smh making they worse every time.
My ranking of AC games on PS4:
1) AC Black Flag
2) Odyssey
3) Origins
4) etc...
Last Place) Sadly Valhalla, as it's the most buggy and awkward AC game🪲🕷️
Came here for a Vahalla Review which was going well until it turned into a Mirage review I didn't come here for.
Amazing game. Will be playing it through again as it has been a while.
I agree! Especially if you’re busy winning an FA Cup and Champions League, ey Ruben? 🫡 MCFC
Going to do the same
Well since its £26 for the complete edition on Epic I might just give it ago
One of the best games ever, Buy it, Play it, Enjoy it
AC VALHALLA is just GREAT 💯🔝
I just baught this for £28 instead of £116 for the everything included edition.
Man this review was so entertaining and had me laughing my ass off few times, you got yourself a new sub!
My favorite games are hitman 2 and 3 assassin's Creed brotherhood,la noir, splinter cell black list and mafia 2.
Good list, except I think Black List was a step back from Pandora tomorrow or Chaos Theory.
7 out of 10. Good open world fun. Some of the stories were pretty good.
Liked Odyssey a lot more, but it’s not a bad game IMO.
Still trying to see through the whole story on how the brothers go on one another.
The man is the Viking Minnesota football team in this game💀
This is by far my favorite AC I’ve played I loved this game
I love Valhalla so much. I just bought it and all the xpacs As a gift to myself for Xmas. Why not get everything for 60 bucks on sale
I got the complete edition for 5 euros just now😂
Great review, removed it from my cart, some comments on the dlc would be nice, with these 'playing games years later' type videos the dlc comes with the game for like $5 extra
This was my go to game when I wanted to sit back, drink a sixer and chill. I just wish it had new game plus, I wouldn't mind doing another playthrough, o well.
I loved the game up until the defensive measures mission. It was a bug that I couldn’t progress thru so I raged quit. Don’t know if they fixed that
Your comedy in this earned a like 🎉
If you’re really craving the og AC games just play the old games, don’t treat this as a stealth game if you find it hard, although it’s possible, and if you think the game is dumb just increase he difficulty, I really like this game one of the best purchases I made, don’t listen to random reviewers, if it wasn’t for difference of choice shops will collapse
THALLL!!!!
Should I get the complete edition on sale ps5?
duh
