Name Elliot as Carrie Todd. She played crazy so well. I was so young at the time, but it stuck with me. I remember their wedding, Vanessa wore blavk! What a hoot.
Interesting, Ed and Maureen's discussion about Rita, who'd been gone for the show for over a year by this time. Nowadays, once a character leaves a soap, they're rarely referred to again (it's like they'd never existed), so it was kind of nice to see them make reference to someone who'd been a major character and a major part of Ed's life for so many years.
That was one of the good things about Douglas Marland (headwriter). He'd refer to people who'd been gone for a while, and even if there were a few days when someone wasn't featured, he'd have them mentioned or involved in off-screen phone calls, etc. But you're right, nowadays once a character leaves, they're simply forgotten.
Mar Thivierge what i also see is. what gorgeous eyes jerry verdorn has they really pop in these older episodes and in some more recent episodes his eyes really call to you !! out of the whole guiding light male cast i adored jerry verdorn and peter simon i especially love how they treated for instance blake .they both would kiss her forehead like you silly little girl but they never treated her or say bridget like they were dummies they just loved them.....i
@@soapsnthings4182 so true. When he had a free hand at As The World Turns, he often referred to past characters, brought them back, and even had new storylines that revolved around past characters and events. He honored history.♥️
Ed and Maureen's wedding day was featured in the Quint and Nola videos from the "Quint in the Hospital" storyline. They didn't show the wedding ceremony, but showed them congregated at the Bauer residence when Nola received a phone call from Mrs. Renfield that Quint went into emergency surgery minutes before the ceremony began. Hope that helps.
Also never bought Simon as Ed, that role belonged to Mart Hulswit. At the time too many recasts of Morgan and Ed. The show collapsed from poor decision making at P&G.
I remember reading that The executive producer at the time clashed with Douglas Marland (head writer) about the character, and Marland resigned in protest. And, I think Carrie was gone soon thereafter. I've never seen the entire Carrie Todd story either.
Marland had story written for Elliot and approved for the following year. He planned on having Carrie murder Jackie Marler, sadly we never got to see all the personalities finally merge as the Producer disliked Jane and wanted her gone. Marland quit in protest. And the show went to hell and eventually became the Lewis hillbilly show brought to you by the Texas team.

is that Margo from as the world turns? I am curious to see the whole Carrie and ross .
Yes, Ellen Dolan (Maureen) went on to play ATWT's "Margo".
I loved the entire Carrie/Ross saga. I wish it were all available. :-(
Wow, Helena Manzini. What a throw back.

I remember reading about this the Carrie storyline. It was praised by many. Why did Jane Elliot abruptly leave Guiding Light?

I believe the head producer at the time wanted her off the show.
I sure wish You Tube would have more videos of the "Crazy Carrie".
