I wonder how this pedal would stack up to a revv g3! Great video mate, especially given that it's your first! I will get either this or the g3 soon I reckon \m/

Hey James, thank you! I was wondering the same thing.... I guess I have to do a comparison :D
I might be able to get a G3 beginning of next week - stick around if you'd like to see that!

@@MaxFreist I certainly will! Very surprising that nobody else has done this comparison yet, I'm sure if you do one it will boost your channel really quickly haha everyone wants to know!!!

Yes. Also a comparison with the Wampler Dracarys, since these are from the same guy and both are the modern metal beasts from his house.

Very nice job on the video. Subbed.
Yeah, I think I'm sold on the pedal after watching a few videos. I haven't heard a single demo that sounds bad or unpleasant, where usually I can only find one or two demos where a pedal sounds really good.

One of my biggest influences when I was playing in the 90s was George Lynch. I also liked Jake E Lee, and DaveMustane

Brain please, I'm only getting one paycheck per month and I already got the Dracarys in September. Got the Revv G3 now. I wanted the new Wampler Overdrive now that's out. Brain please, my money...
By the way nice video dude. Nailed it for the first time.
So let's be honest: is it your favourite pedal?

    • @MaxFreist
      @MaxFreist  5 років тому

ahaha I know that feeling too well.....
Still trying to get hold of a Revv G3 for comparison for now. How would you compare the Dracarys and G3?

    • @marvinrockon

@@MaxFreist Ah I just noticed your now. The volume of the G3 is much higher than the Dracarys, so it comes in more hot into the preamp of you want to.
The G3 made me think back and forth what aggression mode to play with. Blue is already beast and aggressive as heck but remains tight without letting heavy saturation fall off.
The red channel is more open sounding and adds fire to the tone in terms of more tasty saturation/distortion. 2 total beasts in one pedal. Not that different from the voicing, but the side characteristics change. The G3 is really articulate and clear. No muddiness at all. Prestine clarity.
The Dracarys is a great pedal, but the mids on the Dracarys are a bit more nasal. If it's a good or bad thing depends on the amp. The voicing are kinda like the one of the G3. The gain is more than enough on both. I think the Dracarys is more flexible with the gain control because it has more room between "adding a bit spice" and full blast distortion. The g3 starts bursting with the gain down and aggression mode engaged already.
The dracarys got a more dark sound. Clarity is ok on it.
The lows are quite tight on both. I don't really push the bass on guitar tho. But I think the lows on the dracarys are giving a little bit more subtle body than bombing lows, but in a really positive way. It sounds really musically. The treble is a little bit the same treat like the bass knob: nothing shrieking but a bit more definition.
In the end it depends on the voicing of your amp, really. If you want to give a prestine clarity filled amp a distortion with more body and meat, the dracarys is a great choice. With the gain set to 0 - very low, you can even play modern rock tones with it. Very cool.
If your amp might want more note definition, clarity and crisp in your metal tones, your amp sounds nasal in the mids, then the G3 is just perfect.
In my setup (Framus Dragon +V30 cab), the G3 is absolute king. Absolute killer sound and it works well with the gain on my clean channel adding up.
That's my experience with those two.
But in the end we all know ow the absolute king is...
The metalzone with everything turned to 10 in front of another metalzone, boosted by a metalzone, going straight into pc speakers! Yeah Babyyyy!

@@joerobinson6199 yeah right? What a time to be alive. Classic pedals are either being cheap out there used or getting cloned and sold for cheap with 1:1 sound. Modern pedals just rip right now, turning your amp into a Revv or a JCM800 and stuff like that. Tons of Toans. Bad thing is I want it all.
