- This is our method of installing 6x9s in the Saddle Bag lids of Harley-Davidson . We are not a big fan of the 5x7 to 6x9 adapters.

The first one is a Metra lid not a Harley Davidson. The second one is hog tunes good information
That’s right Carlos good keep
It the good work and thanks for putting me up in game on that sound digital
Thank you your videos saves me a lot of money
Keep up the awesome work Carlos
thank you very much, that does help
Enjoying your channel lots of good info.
Love your audio expertise. Really liked your SounDigital review. A suggestion....painted parts should only be placed on a cloth or carpeted surface. I winced seeing the saddlebag lids being placed painted side down on a hard surface.
Larry Zuney Larry Zuney thank you for you compliments.
We have 50+ soft moving blankets that we use when we dissemble bikes and cars here at the shop . We even have a special rack in our 3rd bay that holds parts taken off bikes long term ( also lined with blankets )
The lids in the video where cut and destroyed by the previous shop . They are now garbage ( they leak ) . I would never put a painted part on a hard surface.
Not hard to tell that is an old trashed lid...look at the paint on it. Just used for demonstration purposes
@@NVSAUDIO so I know this video is old but I have a question.. do you still recommend hongtunes 6x9 lids or kicker's 6x9 lids.
@@newmoney8128 yes
@@NVSAUDIO so either one works? I was asking because they're a major price difference ordering them hongtunes $399 kicker $699 just wanted to make sure I purchased the right stuff to bring with me when I make the trip to you to make my great again
Hey thanks for all the great info. You have me convinced on the ground zero 6.5 speaker. I’m have an Aquatic marine radio on my 2012 street glide, do I need an amp the get the most of the ground zero speakers? Thanks
Chicago need sounds for my T. rex campagna. 2021.
Ship it to us , we can hook you up 👍🏽
Would you consider a ½ hour consultation call? If so how much would you charge?
Carlos is the man to go to
I have a 2011 Street Glide and the original owner bought an extra set of lids with 5X7 Harley CVO 2 ohm speakers installed. I should be able to use the original lids that came with the bike to cut in 6X9's, correct? Hertz and Rockford make kits? Thank you for the video, your preference for not using adapters instead will be advice I will not ignore.
Carlos, for my rear speakers in my bag do you put the disconnects under the seat? So if i want to remove the saddle bag i just unplug the connector under the seat.. I am using Deutsch style waterproof connectors. Is this correct? Thanks
I've just started watching your channel and great information and wanted to do dual 6x9 lids with your recommendation what dual 6x9 lids do you recommend? Also looked at your other videos and like the 8 I'm a budget builder so which one is better bang for the buck? Which sound digital amp works better for either or cause where I'm located at this is new to me.
I think faring factory makes the best double 6x9 lids
In my opinion the sound digital 1200.2 4 ohm would be the best amp to run 4 6x9s . They would get 300 watts each rms .
Diamond audio micro 2v2 would also be a good choice giving you 125 watts per 6x9
Stringer Spx 350.2 will give you just under 100 watts per 6x9
Hey bud I'm really starting to like ur style I was non believer I'm in Oakland California an my first harley has 4 6x9s 4 6.5 4 tweets my new bike rk has boom audio I wanta be simple 2 lowers to bag lids small amp what u recommend I have cvo so music is stock an weak
Thanks for the great info Carlos, really appreciate what your doing for the biker community. Do you have any experience with the Kicker lids, I hear the the 6x9s drop through the front? I was thinking of going with the hog tunes but hear that their fitment isn't the best, thoughts?
Kicker makes a really good lid . Plus they have a small channel built in to drain the water out of the lid .
Bro I'm so confused. I just want speakers in my bag that provide as much bass, mid & high while maintaining as much of my bag space as possible. Idk if I need 6x9, 8in, marine or otherwise.
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Great information ..... so what do you recommend as a great weather / waterproof speaker for your bags?
Glenn diamond audio , dB drive euphoria or Rockford
I have factory lids and they don’t look like that. Mine has something that look like a basket.
who makes good 6x9 lids that you don't have to modify ... tnx
Carlos, what do you think about these speakers VELOCITY R690 6X9" SPL? I updated my CVO 2019 SG, to a RF system, - 6 speakers and RF 400W amp, I removed HD OEM amps. But I installed RF 5 X 7 speakers, I am thinking about upgrading the lid speakers to the 6 X(, your recommendations are appreciated. Thank you
I have the Rockford speaker kit in my bags. I wanna change my Rockford 6x9’s to the ground zero 7x10’s they come with adaptors to make the switch and not the balky crazy adaptor like you have in this video. what’s your opinion.
M Kane I like the ground zero 7x10s but beware there will
Be a good amount of grinding to make them fit . They are too wide . We have done a few at the shop and I’m just not happy with having to grind that much to make them fit .
If you don’t mind the grinding , then go for it .
I prefer the hertz Neo 6x9
The MMats pa690
Or the diamond 6x9 with the horn tweeter
They fit much better
Plus they are weather proof the ground zero is not .
NVSAUDIO
Thx for the info. I went ahead and listed the GZ’s up for sale. I’m getting a lot of bass out of the fosgate but not happy with the highs on that speaker but I’m gonna try and tune it more before i buy the diamond 6x9 coaxial subs... Have you heard those yet?
Hi! Congratulations to your channel! Very interesting topics, I've already learned a lot. Question: Do you have experience with bass reflex tubes? In your opinion, does it make sense in the fairing pods and in the bags? Thanks! André
Some shops use them and they work really well . We haven’t found a need to use them yet . It is application and speaker specific with lots of trial and error because you have to keep changing the port length till you get it perfect.
@@NVSAUDIO Yes, it's sience :-)
Is it possible to upgrade the 6x9 speakers with the rockford system that I already have and am not happy with and would it be a simple replacement of the speaker.
Yes
Any standard 6x9 will
Fit
You will
Just need longer screws ( factory Rockford screws are super short )
We like
The
hertz Neo 6x9
Diamond audio 6x9
Mmats pa690cx
@@NVSAUDIO Thank you 😊
Is there a lid that can run dual 6x9s and keep them water proof? I don't want to run or have to deal with the plastic covers of possible.
Non of the double 6x9 lids are water proof
You will
Need to
Run covers
What do you think about the metra lids
+NVSAUDIO Are there any waterproof systems that are better than Rockford Fosgate? Can you give an example of a system that would be a step up from Rockford Fosgate?
Sam
Soundz
DB drive euphoria
The new hertz neo
Any feedback on the nastyhog lids they look like the hogtunes come painted.
Sorry i haven’t tried those
Bro please check out the hogtune speaker lid nothing at all like the one you have there
I know this because I have both..😲
Hogtunes speaker lids are 1000% better ...!
Do you know of any weatherproof dual 6x9 lids?
Hey man, very informative. Please let me know your thoughts on my current set-up. I have a 2012 Harley Roadglide. I’m running biketronics 7.1’s in the fairing off a Jensen HD1BT head unit and RS400 Hawg Wired amp. The 7.1’s sound good but I’m looking to do 6x9 speakers once i order the lids and swapping out the Hawg Wired (2) channel amp for RF TMX400ad amp (4) channel. I’m looking at biketronics Titan ii 6x9’s , Hertz Mille pros, or pioneers TS-6900 Pros. Any advice appreciated.
Philly 3099 call me 908-527-6772
NVSAUDIO ok, i will bro. Thanks!
I love you set up way better than anything I've seen
I learned the hard way I bought color match speaker lids by advanblackgarbage they're the ones that have the cone. The hogtunes are definitely the way to go I highly recommend them to all my friends
I am putting prv neo marine 8s do you recommend dyna Matt
It helps
But if you tune them properly and add a small brace that will help
Way more
I made the switch from sport bike to bagger this past summer so I’m new to this stuff. I recently purchased some 6x9 lids and now looking for speakers. I don’t ride cross country. Do I really need to go marine grade hertz or is there another option that is louder and clearer?
I’m not concerned about budget. I just want to make sure I get the clearest, loudest speaker the first time and not make any mistakes with the equipment I get.
Our go to 6x9s for speaker lids
Is
Hertz Neo 690
And
Diamond audio mp694
How are the advanblack bags and lids compared to stock bags as sound/ bass goes?
Well since they’re thinner plastic I’d suggest dynamat to reinforce the bags cause they flex quite a bit
