    When using Google maps I highly recommend making sure it’s set to walking not driving. It also makes it a lot safer.

    I had not heard of the software before. I used it for rowing. Worked well telling me where I was on a lake, distance to pier, and direction. Weird use, but it helped.

      That’s very cool! I’m learning new things about it all the time. I never would have assumed it could do something like that. I may take it out next time I go cabling.

      @@UnsightlyOpinions I tried the walking/moving with my iPhone, tied it to Apple Maps and my Apple Watch. That worked well for gross movement and has a tactile for coming to a road crossing. Using my AirPods Pro worked much better, but best was my Shokz open run pro wireless bone conduction headphones. Keeps spatial and you can mute with one touch. It’s weird when you run maps, watch, and headphones at first, but it isn’t that distracting.

      @@alexweinstein6417 as far as I know it is mainly for outdoors, although if the specific destination is mapped in the app - say somewhere like a store in a strip mall or indoor mall i can’t see why it wouldn’t work indoors.

    What screen recording software do you use for this? Curious too if a simple error came in to play on this namely, right and left earpieces being reversed and hence Soundscape thinking the orientation was the opposite?

    • @UnsightlyOpinions
      @UnsightlyOpinions  2 роки тому +2

      All I used was the built in screen recorder on my iPhone. While that is a good thought, we did triple check that the audio was in the appropriate earpiece. And for the most part while we were walking if it suggested something was on the left or on the right it was indicating that in the correct earpiece. It was only sometimes when a road curved or we weren’t travelling as the bird flies that things got complicated and confusing.

    Hi, I just found your channel tonight and I am enjoying going through some of the videos.
    I’m fairly new to navigating with my own M cane. I don’t use a guide dog just yet but I was wondering how this app worked as it seems like it would be good, but I’ve conceded with the problems that you were occur Means it’s probably not quite finished yet.
    I had a different thought using your Google maps. What if you were to use the app Be My Eyes that way as you reached certain intersections and stuff you could use the Be My Eyes app to get a cited person actually help you in making us decisions as you use a guide dog I think the combination of the Google maps and the bee my eyes could be a good solution for you. Just a thought let me know your opinion thanks for the great channel, and I am really looking forward to seeing more of the videos that you’ve produced.

      Hi John, I’m so glad you are enjoying the content. That is an idea I do use from time-to-time. Be my eyes is an awesome addition to your mobility toolbox. I have heard from others seeing ai is much better in other cities that aren’t as sprawling as mine and those who use a grid system so it may work better for you than for me. :)

    As is usual with your videos, well done and exceptionally informative and useful. As for Microsoft, I have always considered them to be like the old Soviet union; big bulky and not very elegant and gets the job done by brute force! I do think there are some good points to this app but, as his usual with Microsoft, they have not really thought it through completely and their target audience needs to be considered more in detail. I think that they would benefit from A group of disabled individuals accessing and using the app before they put it out there for the public. Again though, your videos are great and quite useful. Thank you again.

    • @UnsightlyOpinions
      @UnsightlyOpinions  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. I wholeheartedly agree. It is a little brute force. I also agree that there should be more of a beta period where people can test and give feedback And while I do like their other app (seeing AI) a whole lot for the day to day things. The functionality of other apps like Aipoly even with the free version is much more elegant and user friendly.

    This was so cool! I actually am in the middle of editing a video I made a few weeks ago navigating with google maps too but who knows when that will be up! Soundscape seems interesting! I'll have to download it and give it a try! I can see it being a very useful tool for traveling in a more familiar area like a university campus when trying to find a new building. Thanks fro the review!
