The beef between Mc Lytle and Antoinette was also about a beat. Mc Lyte says it in the hook of 10% diss. "Beat biter, dope style taker. Tell it to your face you're nothing but a faker". Audio Two's Top Billing vs Antointte's I Got An Attitude both used the Impeach The President break beat chopped. So basically the went to war over a break beat which is kinda crazy
I got Goosebumps after the chops of "oh Boy" Started!!! Loved the Song Back in the days but didnt know it was a Rose Royce Sample. Anotherone for the History books no Gossips Just Production 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Amazing Video 💯
really impressed by the focused versatility of your channel. Been subbed for a while now and its great to say the focus stay on beats but also spreading your wings to different facets of beat making - tutorials, courses, history lessons you name it. Love it all sir, great job.
Kanye West's first major placement wasn' t on Blueprint it was on That J.D. album I can't think of the album name offhand but it was definitely his first he was paid 5K. Edit: The Album was called Life in 1472 the song was called Turn It Out Jermaine Dupri ft Nas. That's his 1st major placement.
Hey Nav awesome video! What video of yours do you breakdown what happened to that boy? I remember watching it a while back but I can't find it. Thank you
damn, how dit you know all this stuff? i watched many video from you, and every time i wonder how you recreate all these beats and know how they was made. its a miracle.
But this is a good video. I didnt know Izzo was supposed to go to Cam first. That's crazy but I think Jay sounded better on it than Cam would anyway and vice versa with Oh Boy
This makes the beef relatable. My friends beat me to a "nice business opportunity" when we were teens. They heard about it separately and got there first but I took it like Cam'ron and ended up snaking some of it away for myself later. Luckily ours didn't escalate to shooting but this video allowed me to see Jay-Z vs Camron beef through my own life. Thank you!
i believe kenny beats said that you need to do what's the best for the beat, not necessarily the artist. If they tell you they're gonna use the beat but it's been a few months, there has been no action taken and you really want it to get placed, probably a good idea to send it over to someone else. Just think about how many beats got lost because someone "claimed them", whatever that means. Until it's released, the beat only belongs to the producer
I mean, beefing over who gets to pick beats from batches made by Just Blaze, Kanye, Bink and Heatmakerz is not really that surprising. The Roc had the most solid producer roster of any label at the time.
I know it's part of the industry, but if you show someone a beat first and they claim it, it seems a little unfair to then show the same beat to someone else without honoring the first person's claim to it.
Navie D I knew Kanye before his fame he lived in the Hallmark downtown Newark back in 2000 the OTIS beat he got.from a producer who couldn't get it cleared i heard it and the whole building heard it cause he use to play it loud then 10 years past and Kanye claimed he made it in 15 minutes its a known fact in the hood down Newark .
Dang thats funny I didn’t even catch that being the sample all these years😄 tbh probably cause of how history played out, jay did izzo plenty of justice so im koo with it and oh boy still a banger so. Nice piece of history
Learned later on that Just Blaze did the "Girls, Girls, Girls" beat but didn't know he also did the "Oh, Boy" beat. I'm gonna have to check out his production discography now.
Broooo video idea….not sure if you’re a wrestling fan, but WWE has a new producer for their wrestler theme musics and whatnot and people are saying it’s pretty god awful. Would be interested to see what the cause is
Truthfully you never know what may not have been if either beat was used for the initial artist. Cam on IZZO was probably not as good and Jay-z on OH BOY was probably not as good so things happen for a reason and both artist made it and made Kanye and Just Blaze more prominent.
3:18 I love your content but I take issue with “a few years pass and then Cam is signed to rocafella” and everything after that lol. Cam signed to Rocafella in 2001. The same year Blueprint came out lol. Just saying lol
You know you a great producer when rappers beef over your beat😂

Kanye's first major beat placement was on Jay Z's Dynasty album "This Can't Be Life."
It wasn't a hit single

Glad we got an “Oh Boy” breakdown. Phenomenal beat.

Thank you Sammmm, that song was so huge when it first came out
I LIKE THE WAY HE EXPLAINED THE STORY AND SHOWED THE PROCESS OF HOW EACH SONG WAS MADE 👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥🔥

Please make a video about how to use horn samples in beats to get more 90's Boom Bap vibe 🙏
Doesn’t want to get into drama. Thumbnail says deadly, video starts with Cam talking about he got shot. Brilliant!

It more impressive being made on a MPC where the sample time is limited
you are the producer version of Dopinder from Deadpool to me.
The reference is lost on me. I hope that's a good thing though
That's just racist
What the hell this even mean 😭😭
I thought Kanye's first placement was a year prior on The Dynasty album? The song This Cant Be Life 🤔
But this is a good video. I didnt know Izzo was supposed to go to Cam first. That's crazy but I think Jay sounded better on it than Cam would anyway and vice versa with Oh Boy
You’re correct
No it was Beanie’s “The Truth” which was before all that. It also was the lead single
Ya should Part 2 this - Showcase "Dead Presidents", "Takeover", and "Ether"

early 2000s had some great production looking back
2:13 how do you do this in fl without drum pattern?
I am sixteen and am just starting do you have any advice Navie?
Go to school man, leave this ish alone…
Kanye's 1st beat on a album wasnt IZzo .. 1st big hit yes but he had beats on albums 2 to 3 years before izzo or blueprint
They are writing poems to eachother at the end of the day
Kanye actually made a semi major beat before this or beanie Siegel called the truth
Make a vídeo about the sample of street dreams and All eyes on me 🙏🏼
I'm watching this after listening to swagger jacker yesterday.
Quote of the Month: "With great beets, comes great responsibility" ~Dwight Schrute
Do the Lift Yourself beat next😂
damn I would love to hear cams h to the izzo version
Cam and Jay already had tension before that and Kanye's first major beat placement was on Jermaine Dupri's Life in 1472
I mean, beefing over who gets to pick beats from batches made by Just Blaze, Kanye, Bink and Heatmakerz is not really that surprising. The Roc had the most solid producer roster of any label at the time.

Cam getting yapped in DC had absolutely nothing to do with Jay-Z, but because he played Alpo in Paid in Full.
2024 is a year of Hip Hop Beefs and DissTracks

Cam got shot over the character he played in paid in full.

Never forget Bink!
I thought Kanye West first beat placement was on life and Times of Sean Carter, volume three name of this song was “think there’s been a murder”
The 2 cats at the beginning is just kendrick vs Drake except kendrick would be a lion and Drake is just the tiny cat
Drake is the mouse that the falcon picked up. Shout out to Earl, lol.

I thought Kanye’s first major placement was The Truth. Just was basically in house. Everybody was getting beats from him at Bassline 🤣
Dude, u got Hov crying? Disrespectful!
Native D you make great content but to say that Kanye and Just Blaze were Unknown is just bad information.
Kanye had a beat on dynasty and the truth before Blueprint
