If you have never traveled to another country, you have no right to criticize that country.
And even if people travel to other countries, they still don't have the right to criticize them. Because to be there just to visit is one thing. But, to live there is a whole other reality. People visit and leave, and their criticism doesn't make any difference in locals daily lives at all.

I was intivted by the Deputy Chief Commissioner to meet with him at the Indian Embassy. The nicest man who opened all the doors for me. Because I embrace my life in Myanmar and the people are so incredibly kind. I love Kiran's attitude! I'm learning so much about Indian culture by living in Myanmar and I'm making nice videos to capture all that. I hope to continue learning more. Kiran gave me more insights. I would love to visit India when the time is right. But I love living in Myanmar. If only we knew our true nature, who we really are - Atman is Brahman. Advaita Vedanta and Swami of NYC has WONDERFUL lectures on this. So now I really GET IT

I was born in Africa and grew up in UK and then settled in USA.. I still call myself Indian! I am a 3rd gen nri and we follow the Indian culture, food-I'm a devout Hindu and am vegetarian. I have been a citizen of each of the countries I have lived in. I still feel like I am more Indian, although India does not give me citizenship and I am called a foreigner and experience discrimination when I visit India.. 😔

I'm really impressed by his honesty, and how soft spoken he is. It's sad he was bullied growing up.
It is an interesting point about politeness that he made. A lot of people who migrate within India sometimes do not realise that tone and body language can also be unintentionally rude. Instead of complaining that your host city is unwelcoming perhaps put some effort to clue into the local culture and figure out if there are some things you do that come across as hostile to the locals.
It could also be the reverse. A lot of people come to Mumbai and get offended because local colleagues may use the familiar Tu with them instead of the more polite Tum or the formal Aap. It takes some paying attention to realise that they are not being rude. It is common in Marathi (the local language) to talk to your contemporaries in a familiar manner. This shows friendliness or familiarity (a kind of "you are like me") rather than rudeness. It takes some getting used to for people who stick to the formal register in their native languages. But, once you get it, you will not spare any more thought to it.
I thought it was the opposite, lol. I had some ppl in my Uni in Chandigarh who came here all the way from Mumbai and they would always use "Aap" even when we were the same age (it's not differentiated by formality, but age I thought), so I thought "Man, these ppl are exhaustingly polite down in Mumbai....would be annoying to live among them", but u're saying it's the opposite: Interesting.

Certainly not the ones from my area. Maybe Himachalis, etc think that, but I don't think Haryanvis, or Punjabis would.
Before 1997 I lived in Delhi and Punjab. I imagined that all South Indians were like Juhi Chawla's father in the film Hum Hain Rahi Payar Ke (1993).
Then I met many Singaporean Tamils who were hard core non vegetarians. In Chennai many CSI protestants and Kerala Syrian Christians were my friends. I even lived as a Hindu in a Shia majority neighborhood in Bangalore. My perspectived about South India changed completely.
Nowadays, people in North India have better awareness about South India because many have gone to Hyderabad and Bangalore for education and work. Also cinema from South India has exploded like movies like Ustad Hotel, Super Deluxe or Charlie 777.
Many people in North India know about Fahad Faasil and Yash while South Indians know about Badshah.

It seems that there is a lack of willingness to bring about change in our society. Many of us are aware of the issues we face, but only a few of us are willing to take action to make things better. Instead, some people tend to escape to foreign countries, which is perfectly understandable, but it's not helpful to bad-mouth our own country without doing anything to improve it. If we continue to deny our responsibility for the problems, we can't expect things to get better.
It's high time that we prioritize the development of our youth in civic sense, education, and technology. If we take a closer look, we'll see that we have made significant progress in solving some major problems in the past decade or two, such as reducing tobacco use and decreasing illiteracy rates. Unemployment rates will also decrease for those who are willing to work. The internet has opened up a global market, but there are some concerning issues with our younger generation, such as the hook-up culture, drug use, underage drinking, and detachment from our values like family orientation and respect for others.
If we truly want to make a change, we need to take action. It's not impossible to achieve a better future if we work together and prioritize the right things.
Ignore those so-called "intellectuals".
In real life, they don't know ABCD, but they come to educate us on important issues on social media.

First part is so true. I am an Indian and I think the same way. Whenever one of my relatives is pregnant, I am always praying that the baby is physicallyborn normal. That's all I care for.
Just so you people know, I totally disagree with world's happiness index. I'm about as happy as I can be living here. We have more freedom than the world media depicts on their outlet and I've never been oppressed by anyone here. Yeah, I know that India has its own fair share of flaws but there's no country out there without flaws.

Sometimes, I look at what he is talking about (in my own life from my own view) and just go numb….and then I go within and remember that we are infinite beings in a falsely structured 3D world. He is spot on
I appreciate Mr. Kiran's factual portrayal of India and Mr. Max's nuanced representation of the country, which is unlike the portrayal of other Western media outlets.

Today India has better facilities than western world in areas that do matter a lot.
Let us take medical facilities. I have friends in the usa who say getting a doctor appointment might take days. Here in India you have a very good government and private hospitals where you can walk in and get an appointment. The treatment is far cheaper and good.
You have the option for allopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy, unani etc.
The insurance and pharma mafia has not taken over the medical system like the USA and hence you can get treatment at more than one tenth the cost.
My friend who is around 72 years old, an American recently came and did both her knee replacement surgery in India for Around 5000 $. She said in the USA it's not possible for a person who is of that age to get a knee replacement and even if it's possible it would have cost more than 20000$.
The ease of digital payment in India has surpassed all western world.
The cultural richness of India is something which is absent in the USA.
Family relationships are far better than the western society.
The purchasing power of the middle class Indian is greater than the western world when we compare the costs of living.
Considering all these I think India is a better place to live😊

Nowadays an avarage indian monetary prosperity is almost 60 percent of an average European,s prosperity in early 1980s .and realise that by 1980 Europe was already developed and rich.of course there are poor people in India ,in single digit percentage but. India is no more a poor country.
I think India still is poor country if we see on the ground. By GDP it's not. Was Europe rich by 1980s itself? Wow. Seems like unemployed youth must be getting proper help till they get their job, pregnant women and people must be getting proper medical support and almost every family must have had at least one car in their family.
It is the public spaces that reflect poverty which needs to be fixed.

2:30 According to World Bank, in 2021, 12.9% people in India lived under $2.15 a day. And 38% live under $6.85 a day. And according to most sources, half of the population lives below $13/day, a number which is $35 in China. So India is not that poor what you think. Indians have high saving rate.
Don't forget to mention the cost of living as well. 2$ per day is certainly bad but if you're you're making even 15$ per day then that's pretty decent and could get you a decent life.

@vedants.vispute77 That's incorrect. India is ranked third in GDP per PPP. Indians do have a lot of purchasing power parity. Also, GDP per capita is not worth comparing between different countries as you also need to consider the Cost of living, inflation, and purchasing power with per capita income, only then it's relevant. India is a poor country is a myth, India is not poor, a percentage of Indians are poor, and these poor are rapidly getting out of poverty.
@@blackman7186 PPP factor is itself calculated by adjusting to cost of living. An average American earns $4000 a month, while iphone, ps5 all cost less than $1000.. This is not the case for India. India is one of the most poorest countries in the world. You just belong to the top 2% hence you might not feel it.

To understand India, you need to understand different castes(and how it's related to kind of jobs people do), understand different linguistic regions, different geographic regions, economic and demographic disparity in different parts of India and this is just the bare minimum.
The pollution got me this trip arrived in Delhi 26/2 got severe bronchitis spent 3 weeks of my 4 in a hotel getting well enough to travel home. I come every year for a month and never had this problem before, so yes agree with him about getting use to weather or food etc so if the pollution is high wear a mask outside for westerners other your holiday could be ruined like mine was this year 🙏

Bhinna Ruchihi' means all people of this universe have different tastes - All family members in a single family are different from one another in nature So is all about different countries and all depends on the belief, culture of their own of their countries and its human nature that every person is somewhere out of his place tends to compare his own beliefs to that of others

For India their systems work for the Indians. They have lived there for many centuries and understand how it works. For people traveling there, just enjoy the fabulous delicious foods and cultures. Respect others ways of living.
I think if you want to learn more about India you need to understand Hinduism, Hindu philosophy, Ethics, local culture (Food, Dressing, Festivals, Customs), Local Language, History before colonial times and colonial times, changes that this land has gone through during these times etc.
So I don't think as a tourist one get opportunity to read or learn this land in the brief time they spend here. Unless one is passionate and able to give time for all this it is possible to understand India.
I think that is very insightful comment. It is funny. Life brought me to Myanmar. I started making little videos. I was embraced by the Indian community. At the same time life had also brought me to the wonderful talks of the Swamy of the NYC Advaita Vedanta Society. So even though I am very ignorant of Indian culture (I lived 7 years in Mainland China and understand very well), at some level I think this already helped me to understand a lot. I love my life in Myanmar and want to thank the Indian community for welcoming in this funny Aunty with the funny colored hair!
@@MissLizaYangonMyanmar Don't think it is difficult to understand China or Mayanmar or any other country because more or less they are uniform. China is communist rule for a long time. Their native cultures are all hijacked by communist and standardised in their own way. But there will be some suttle differences be it in food and customs.
Coming to Mayanmar that is a buddist country. so understanding Buddism, bit of their political struggle is enough.
but India is more diverse. Between states dressing, language, customs, architecture, food everything changes. Mostly that unites all is our religion i.e Sanatan Dharma. Some call the same as Hinduism. So it is not easy unless someone tries to understand India from religion, cultural and historical standpoint.

I think sometimes it is because they want India to do better. It is 2024 and they are disappointed that things haven't changed. Like Bill Gates, a Christian, gave one billion dollars of his money to improve conditions in India. How much have the Adani's and Ambanis have done with their money for India?

15:58 In India, people may call you "brother" in a very impolite way as if you were friends from childhood but the culture is that everyone is like a relative. We call random strangers or neighbous as "Uncle", "Aunt", "brother", "sister", "grandpa", "grandma" depending on their age, rather than calling them by name. There is a sense of connection and acknowledgement that everyone is related. And there was no culture of "Thanking" like it is now. You don't thank your relatives.
As a polite south Indian, I hesitate calling someone "Uncle/aunt" because of how they would react to it. North Indians don't hesitate. 😂

It is funny that he calls himself part Indian and a calm person but he got offended by 'bhaiya', which actually shows that those kids spoke to him very respectfully and nowhere does it show that they wanted him to stop all his work. He should also know that there are no parallel words for 'excuse me' in Hindi, every language works differently.
