Friedrich "Fritz" Kreisler (February 2, 1875 - January 29, 1962) was an Austrian-born American violinist and composer. One of the most noted violin masters of his day, and regarded as one of the greatest violinists of all time, he was known for his sweet tone and expressive phrasing. Like many great violinists of his generation, he produced a characteristic sound which was immediately recognizable as his own. Although it derived in many respects from the Franco-Belgian school, his style is nonetheless reminiscent of the gemütlich (cozy) lifestyle of pre-war Vienna.

While I personally would favor the original over this more romantic version of that incredible concerto, there's no denying Kreisler's incredible skills! What technique, what sound!!! His playing is so lush, warm, and so richly textured (and you can hear that even without taking into account the old recording). It's just such a joy to behold😍
Italians: moving in for the kill blood drama feuds... Austrians: lets have a coffee and something sweet... 😂😂😂
Best Guarneri sound.
He used the best one among his own 21 good violins
I thought Mr. Kreisler always played violin with his unique soft warm and sweet tone, however what really shocked me is the first few notes he played in this concerto is almost like pulling out a sward by knight! Incredible performance!
I adore kries!er he brings the beauty and sentimental element of the violin never mind the interpretation he desires he is so human in his playing ,rip maestro you are the best to me !
❤
Kreisler made his own arrangement...it's sounds like Disney arrangement
I love Kreisler AND Paganini! This is my favorite rendition of Paganini's first concerto.
This piece sounds like a modernization of the original, in order to put the piece more easy for every one. (even personnaly I love the original version).
It was done in the 30's , how would have Kreisler recreated it today ???
I agree
Astonishing sound in the cadenza
Amazing !
I have loved the 6 paganini's concerto for more than 40 years, but I didn't know that Kreisler created this arrengement, more precisely this interesting reperforming.
And with Kreisler, we are in some "good hands" !
😮,… the vibrato the flautato the precision with the pristine softness!
Pure Gold
Nice...first time I heard this...amazing vibrato.
Magnificent!
Pure genius! Eric Shumsky
And what a beautiful sound... something none has surpassed nowadays. And Kreisler was an old respected man in 1936... At the end of his career.
Es. tal la perccion. Sin palabras. ❣️❣️❣️🇮🇷México. 💕💕💕💕💕🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Esa no es la bandera de México 😅
This sounds like what happens when they turn a book into a movie.

🙏🏼 THANK YOU
If Paganini were Viennese this would be the style. "I'll have a little Swiss cream und Zucker in meinem Kaffee, bitte, and let's become ein bisschen gemütlich."
It is very different from the versions that I have listened.
That's because Kreisler made his own arrangement of the concerto.
No really ??? 😂😂😂
The introduction could easily have been disney film music
😮 @5:15
🇮🇷 👋👋👋👋👋👋 👑 🙏🎶🎶
I would say that modern players are absolutely unable to reach such beautiful sound and vibrato . That is a regression. And he doesn't play like a student. He is a great master.
Me las revueven las del telefon.
This is very interesting but the only thing I want to know is: why did he do this? Someone out there must know.
>> Why did he do this? Someone out there must know.
@violinhunter2
Presumably, the "he" of your question is Kreisler (not Ormandy).
But would you please be more specific -- what exactly do you mean by "do this"?
Yes, someone out there must know.
But first we need to be sure we know what you are asking.
Kreisler was a masterful composer besides being one of the world's greatest violinists. He did arrangements of several pieces like this for his own use. I doubt that Paganini would have been happy about Kreisler re-arranging his music, but you must admit it is a fascinating!
@@cletedavis5849 Well,... I know Kreisler wrote many salon pieces but he never wrote any industrial strength music - no symphonies, or tone poems, no operas, no piano sonatas or concertos or violin sonatas or concertos but he did write this thing. He must have spent many weeks reworking the harmonies and orchestration. Why didn't he just play (and record) the original? Why did he not "rework" Mendelssohn's or Beethoven's or Mozart's or Bach's or Brahms' stuff? I'm guessing that he must have proposed this "project" to someone before doing it and in the process had to explain or reveal his reason for doing it. Maybe he just did it because he could. In any case, I don't find it as much fascinating as humorous.
For a long time after Paganini dead, No one dared to play paganini music, and no one knew how to do it, then (and even today) paganini works are music that only paganini can understand, This ignoring the fact that paganini never published his violin concertos during is lifetime, in the lates 1920s Paganini caprices were very well know, But is violin concertos werent, I heard somewhere that kreiser did this to get paganini music fit more into the "popular" music standards, like a new way to introduce paganini to new audiences, if you look old recordings (1900s-1920s) you will find that paganini caprices were very popular (the caprice 13 for example), But his violin concerto 1 in the original key is impossible to find, ignoring yehudi menuhins recordings you will find people like Váša Příhoda having their own recordings of variations on paganini violin concerto 1 (sadly i only managed to find the first movement of it)-
Nunca había escuchado a Paganini solo 💕🇮🇷🙏🎶🎶🎶
Since some time, they lost the courage to create beauty.
Interesting. While it is totally awesome to hear Kreisler's wonderful, unique sound, I have to say, I just hate this "arrangement"-- this downright corruption-- of this piece. It is dreadful. Just completely tacky. And unnecessary. The original is fine and doesn't need fixing.
I'd prefer listening to James Brown sing Mozart. What's the point of this?
Hilariously awful. Ranks with Greig’s two piano versions of the Mozart sonatas
