VDC, Transmission and Suspension Setup Switches
Your GT-R is equipped with three unique control systems, exclusive to this vehicle, that allow you to change driving characteristics
based on road conditions and your driving style. With the ignition ON, these three systems allow you to adjust transmission shift
points, shock absorber damping force, and Vehicle Dynamic Control, or VDC.
When you start your GT-R, all three systems will be in NORMAL mode, the center position. For everyday driving situations all three
switches should be set to the NORMAL mode.
Use the switch on the left to select your GT-R's transmission shift characteristics. For maximum performance and drivability, there
are three modes: NORMAL, R and SAVE. Please note: transmission response will differ depending on whether the automatic or
manual shift mode is selected. In NORMAL mode, your transmission will change gears using shift points best suited for everyday
driving.
Push up on the switch for one second and the red light will flash as it shifts into R mode. In R mode, the transmission allows faster
gear changes for maximum performance. Push down to return to NORMAL mode.
While in the center position, push down on the switch and a blue light will flash as it shifts into SAVE mode. This mode should be
used when driving on snowy or slippery surfaces.
The center switch can be used to set the shock absorbers to any of these three modes: NORMAL, R and COMFORT. Push up for
one second to select the R mode and a red light will flash. This mode is for enhanced handling and cornering. Push down on the
switch to select COMFORT mode. This mode makes driving on rough roads more comfortable by adjusting the damping force.
Use the switch on the right to setup the VDC. The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) System uses various sensors to monitor driver
inputs and vehicle motion. Under certain driving conditions, it controls brake pressure and engine output to help the driver maintain
control of the vehicle. VDC, which should remain on when driving except when freeing the vehicle from mud or snow, cannot prevent
accidents due to abrupt steering, carelessness or dangerous driving techniques. Always drive safely.
The three VDC Modes are: NORMAL, R and OFF. Push up on the switch for more than one second to change to R mode. The red
light will illuminate. In addition to the normal VDC operation, this mode also adjusts front and rear power distribution in the all-wheel
drive system for enhanced handling.
With the switch in the center position, push down for more than one second to turn the VDC system OFF. When this switch is in the
OFF position, all VDC functions, excluding the ABS system, are cancelled. The VDC system should be turned off only briefly to help
free the vehicle if stuck in snow or mud. It must remain on at all other times.
When the ignition is turned OFF all three systems will reset to NORMAL mode. Consult your Owner's Manual for further details.
