    I was reading some of the comments and I had to smile at the one that read "Mr. Rogers of bush craft". It's kind of true. Your always very pleasant in your videos. That being said, your reviews are always dead on track. We get to see the tasks the knife is capable of and you always include some good specifications. LT sure makes outstanding knifes. Thanks for another solid review Dave.

      It would be quite an honor to be compared to Mr Rogers. And the more I watch this channel, the more the comparison fits. But HCSL, you are talented in videography AND woodsmanship. Love the skills you display in both areas. Love the gear, too.

    Thank you for providing this review. After watching, I knew I had to try to acquire one of these. I started shopping around and finally found an LT Wright Saber grind Camp Muk with double red micarta scales with natural micarta liners on DLT Trading. I purchased that particular knife mostly because I'm a saber grind junkie and because of the asthetic of the double red/natural scales. When the knife arrived, I was, and still am highly impressed with this fantastic knife. This knife came with a razor's edge with a barely discernabel burr. A couple of passes on a Green Elephant ceramic honing rod and some stropping and I have, what is now my favorite knife in my collection. This knife rides perfectly on the belt and is an outstanding EDC knife. I'm glad you put this review up on youtube, it's what pushed me over the edge to purchase this wonderful knife! Keep up the outstanding reviews, they're greatly appreciated.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your outstanding comment, Chuck! I am very happy that I could help by giving you a look at this knife Your knife sounds great! I, too, really enjoy a nice saber grind and your handle sounds beautiful! LT Wright never disappoints, especially right out of the box. They really make the unboxing process a real treat. Its great to hear that this knife has lived up to all of your expectations. Be sure to keep me posted on your adventures with this knife. It's such an excellent knife that was tough to give back to my friend who let me review it..haha! -Dave

    Joe got a nice example of that knife . Thanks for the video . I'm expecting one of the same but with matte black micarta and " snakeskin " micarta liners early next week . I'll let you know how things go after some use . I'm just messing around in the back yard mostly . Yesterday I did receive a flat grind A2 Genesis with desert ironwood handle that seems terrific of course . It's kind of neat being a prototype which only has the two handle pins instead of three . So ...... after a bit I'll report on the GNS as well as these two . Have great weekend woodsman !

    Thank you for this outstanding review of this knife. This was the best evaluation of a knife that I've seen on UA-cam. You covered all of the essential tasks that a camp knife would be used for and gave us a good look at the tip, the belly, and the spine and how they would be used to great effectiveness. As a side note, you displayed excellent skills in using the knife to cut notches. I'm impressed. If I was a knife maker, I would want you to do the review. Thanks a million.

    Thanks for this review Dave! I have wanted an LT Wright as my high end Bushcraft knife since I got into this hobby and learned what’s out there. Now I just wish someone local sold them so I could go hold the Genesis, Lagume, and this Muck to decide which one! I really love the nessmuck design but have wanted the Genesis for so long now it’s hard to break from that plan. Otherwise, gorgeous knife and thanks as always for a great video!

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 років тому

      Thank you for watching, my friend! It would be nice if local outlets carried LTWK brand to actually hold them. The Genesis is an excellent knife and I think you will love it! The Lagom is my favorite and this Camp Muk knife is excellent but the handles aren't for everyone. I would also recommend looking at the GNS....awesome knife, a bit less expensive than the Genesis and the handle is very comfortable! Keep me posted on what you decide on! -Dave

    As always a very cool review, JR industry sheaths are nice, I only wish they would either stitch the belt loop or ad an additional rivet. I have found after good use that one rivet causes the leather to stretch and eventually pop out in some cases. That made a great pot hook, of coarse that's more do to user skill then the tools doing😉
    Good to see ya brother ..stay warm.

    Sir. As you mentioned in this video, this knife should be a hunting knife as a skinner. However, it does really well for multi-purposes including shopping and batoning tasks (at the minimum level). I also noticed that this knife should be good for cooking and it will slice well, too. From the view of Japanese, this blade can be really useful when we clean fish and make Sushi or Sashimi at the out door lol

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 років тому +1

      Yes Sir! I think this knife would be excellent for cleaning fish and making sushi in the forest! It is excellent at camp tasks! Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave

      In Japan, now we are free to catch Japanese trouts and eat them. I don't know weather you like fishing or not but that knife should be really useful to clean fish. However, we have to be careful not to use it in sea water. Probably, it get rust because of its steal.

    Btw....how do you like this knife when compared to the Lagom? As you may remember, the Lagom is the one knife I wish I hadnt sold, but this one had my attention too. ive found that these slightly smaller knives are more usable and convenient compared to the larger knives. So would you stay with the Lagom? The handle on this Muk seems a bit small to me.
    Thanks again

      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 років тому +1

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very nice, encouraging comment, Justin! I really appreciate that! Yes, I remember! You are exactly right - I would stay with the Lagom because of the handle on the MUK. It's not bad, at all, and Joe's large liners help a lot, but most Nessmuk style knife handles have that 'thinning' as they approach the blade. I just love the swelled belly on the Lagom. -Dave

    Oh man Dave.....have you seen the Nordsmith Canteen Knife? Its a full size Nessmuk style knife that is made by LT Wright. It looks like an amazing knife to have as a modern nessmuk trio. I think a saw, the canteen knife, and a swiss army knife would go a long way. Or maybe replace the saw with a small axe.
    Let me know if you have seen it and what you think. Joe Mobley did a review video on it as well.
    As always....take care and we appreciate your vids,

    • @jay-rus4437
      @jay-rus4437 6 років тому

      HighCarbonSteel Love .....yes, have one coming. Will let you know, but I have the same reservation that you have, which is the larger size. I tend to lean the same as you toward 3-1/2” to maybe 4-1/4” blades.
      Just out of curiosity, what is your choice for an emergency go bag knife?

    • @jay-rus4437
      @jay-rus4437 6 років тому

      HighCarbonSteel Love .....well dave, the nordsmith was too large. Great shape, just too big overall. The blade, in my opinion, needed to be about 3/4” to maybe 1” shorter, and the handle was actually much longer than necessary as well. I am 6’-3” tall and 240lbs, and the handle was still longer then needed.
      Guess I still just need to get another Lagom....😄

  • @estima8tor1
    @estima8tor1 6 років тому

    OK Dave, I have a hard question for you. In your opinion, which man's knife design is the better bushcraft knife, George Washington Sears with the Nessmuk or Horace Kephart with his Kephart knife? I you had to choose one, which would it be?

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 років тому

      That is a tough question but IMHO, I like the Kephart over the Nessmuk. Primarily because I am not a hunter, so I don't use Nessmuk knives to their fullest, whereas with a Kephart, I think woodcraft is it's primary function. It can also work as a hunting knife, but not quite like the Nessmuk. Also, for that reason, I enjoy handles of most Kephart designs a bit more. And thats because I had to chose, per your excellent comment...haha! Thank you for stopping by, my friend!

    Can you go into detail on the stamping on the canteen cup lid? I want to find one for my cup

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 років тому

      The stamping on the top of the lids above the handle says "PAT PEND" and under the handle it says "FERGUSON HANDMADE KNIVES" "PO BOX 764 SAN ANGELO, TX 76902". I purchased it from an eBay seller a few months back but when I went back to check about a week later, they were all sold out. It's an excellent lid for the USGI canteen cup and I hope you can find one. Thank you for watching, Rob! -Dave

    • @alanmeyers3957

      I can give you my opinion, they are all equally well made by the same manufacturer, this style of blade is far superior for skinning game, the gns and genesis are more for general woodscraft, carving, drilling, etc, although, this knife will make fire sticks and such as well.
