One of my favorite Moody Blues songs is "The Story in Your Eyes."
Mine too! It’s my wife’s ringtone
Excellent song... you can't help but sing along
One of my favorites. I just recommended it before seeing this comment. New Horizons is also worth reacting to.
My favorite. Then Nights in White Satin.
Agree. They should also play "Procession", which leads into that song. A musical synopsis of man's evolution.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "The Voice", "I'm Just A Singer In A Rock n Roll Band", and "Question" !!!
Oh yes, "Question"!
“Why do we never get an answer, when we’re knocking at the door “🤠🎶🎼
@cosmiccowboy7764 👍😄
The Voice was a huge hit in 1981. Long Distance Voyager was a super album.
@@robertdtimmerman Indeed. Likely their finest album of the '80s.
This is a sequel to "Your Wildest Dreams" My late husband was a Moody Blues fan, and this song means more since his passing. "Celtic Sonant" is another must.
One of my favs. Wildest dreams
My late wife got to see them live around the time this came out; makes me think of her.
Please don't forget "I'm Just A Singer In A Rock n Roll Band", also "Question"!!
Love Question. It was my introduction to the Moody Blues back in the day
Shut up
“The other side of life” is my absolute favorite song by the moody blues
Moody Blues is a great band....Another great band....you guessed it...The Smithereens....begin with The Blues Before and After...yessss
Mike Pinder founding member and original keyboardist recently passed away. It was Pinder that gave Paul McCartney the idea of using a Mellotron type organ in the openning of Strawberry Fields Forever. When the Beatles returned from America after their first visit 1964, they embarked on a UK Tour with the Moody Blues opening for them. Much history between these two bands. Mike wrote several Moody Blues songs including Out and In and Melancoly Man.
Unfortunately, the band had parted ways with Mike Pinder after the release of their 1978 Octave album. They replaced him with Patrick Moraz, who, in my opinion, was too showy and didn't have as much talent. I lost interest in the direction of the band's music after Pinder left. I had been a fan since the original bands release on the Motown remake "Go Now." Mike Pinder was responsible for the creative direction of the band that I really loved after 1966 when Justin Hayward replaced Denny Laine and John Lodge replaced Clint Warwick.
It was very sad when Mike passed-away recently and one of my favorite songs written by Mike for the Moodies was "Out and In."
Question by The Moody Blues, that's what you should hear next!
Absolutely. "And the Tide Rushes In," "Tortoise and the Hare," "Dawning Is the Day," all top tracks from 'A Question of Balance.'
"I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band" was a big hit for the Moody Blues
The Voice, Story in Your Eyes and Gemini Dream. All fantastic.
As you noted, this is a sequel to Your Wildest Dreams. These two songs had a special bittersweet meaning for me. In the Early 80s I was engaged but due to deaths in my fiancé’s family the wedding didn’t happen and we eventually broke up.
The Moody Blues were special to us. I introduced them to her and we saw them in concert and their song In My World became our song.
When Your Wildest Dreams came out it really resonated with me. Especially words like “I wonder if you think about me”.
We did eventually meet up a few times and talk on the phone. The feelings were still there for both of us but, as in the video, she was (unhappily) married with kids so we knew nothing could happen. After a while I told her that it would be best that we end contact. Several years later she did call me again but that was the last time we had any kind of contact. To this day I still think about her sometimes.
Favourite songs of the Moodies.... "Question", "New Horizon" & "Never Comes The Day". Absolute gems. Please try these
How to find a Moody Blues song worth checking out:
1. Randomly pick out one of their albums.
2. Randomly pick out one of the tunes on that album.
3. Enjoy.
"The Actor" is an incredibly beautiful old Moody Blues song...💙
The video won an MTV best video award. Also, Justin Hayward has said about the song that it’s about how sometimes, it’s best to leave things as memories. He has said it’s the favorite song he of his that he’s written.
"For My Lady" is one of their most beautiful songs. "Ride My See‐Saw" "I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)" "Tuesday Afternoon" "Isn't Life Strange" "The Other Side Of Life" So many good songs.
Moody Blues always put on a great show, I saw them a number of times back in the day
"I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band" is an older song, but it's jammin'. "The Voice" is really good too.
Ray Thomas singing "For my Lady" is great.
Jonny Nash...Tears on my pillow...is another beautiful song
Moody Blues :
“ I’m Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band “”
do the video, great drumming!!!!
Kathie says…my all time favorite Moody Blues song is GO NOW….(1964) I LOVE that song and played that 45 to death!!!
Somewhere out there, or she's like the wind.
"The Story In Your Eyes" was my wedding song and the entire album was played at the reception. I would love to see you react to it.
My second favorite band after the Beatles. ESPECIALLY the album "In Search of the Lost Chord". AMAZING !!
I love the Moody Blues, every song is so good. “ Candle Of Life “ is one of my favorites! 🕯️🔋💜💜
'Melancholy Man' does it for me!!!
Gosh there are so many Moody Blues tracks, They never made a bad one. "Nice to be here" would be a great track to introduce to your girls, They and you would love it.
The Moodies have two distinct eras - the 60's-70's, and then the 80's. The first included groundbreaking concept albums that married classical and rock music. Think Nights in White Satin. Then the 80's included a string of pop hits like this song. They were successful both ways, but they will always get special recognition for that first era. The Days of Future Passed album went to #1 in several different years.
Grew up with the Moody Blues🎸❤ They are in a class, all their own.🙂
The song and video are a sequel to "Your Wildest Dreams." The video picks up right at the end of the first video.
Jay & Amber Moody Blues in my top 5 favorite bands. "Voice in the Sky" on In Seach of a Lost chord album from 1968. It's Amazing song.
I’m Just A Singer ( in a rock and roll band ) is a great Moody Blues song 🔥
"Question" (The ballad parts get to me all the time) & "The Voice" (High energy all the way!)
One of my favorite Moody Blues songs! I don’t recall ever hearing it on the radio when it was new, but I did discover it many years later and I just love the hopefulness and positivity of it.
My favorite Moody Blues song is the ballad "Driftwood." In 1978, it reached #38 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
Probably the singer Justin Hayward's best song is from Jeff Wayne's album "War of the Worlds" -- "Forever Autumn", narrated by Richard Burton.
#30 on the Billboard chart, the Moodys final Top 40 hit. It was a heck of a run, from "Go Now" in 1964 to this in 1988. Really only the Rolling Stones have a had a longer run, although there are various asterisks for other artists.
RIP, Mike Pinder.
"The Voice" is one of my favorites!
'Blue World' is another great Moody Blues song from 1983.
Finally! Back to the Moody Blues. But you should play their earlier stuff, it's better, like "Nights in White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon." Try, "Legend of a Mind", "The Voyage", "Have you heard", "Eyes of a Child", "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band".
Yes, "Legend Of A Mind" (Timothy Leary song).
@@richardkint6531 Changed it, thanks!
@Gregg. If you don't mind, I'd like to add one to the list... Ride My See Saw. 😊
@@oldiesgeek454 Ah yes! When my son was small, it was his favorite song.
Thanks for the Moody's reactions! Would love to hear your reaction to the Moody's "The Story in Your Eyes"
Love the Moody Blues- my favorite is “The Other Side of Life “
Yes!!!
"On The Threshold Of A Dream" is a great album. Every song is memorable.
This is one of my favorite Moody Blues songs. I love how the musiic and melody flows.
The crossroads festivals were always awesome j.J kale and Eric Clapton at the crossroads doing the song.Call me the breeze.J j wrote it
You must have been reading my mind. I was going to suggest a Moody Blues song for you today, but it would have been 'I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band).' But this is a good one, too!
Their last top 40 song. You seem to be playing their more mellow 80's songs. Just like Chicago, The Moody Blues turned into a mellow rock sound in the 80's. Do you know they were a progressive rock band in the late sixties and 70's? React to "Question", "Story In Your Eyes", "Ride My See Saw", "Steppin In A Slide Zone" or "I'm Just A Singer In A Rock N Roll Band". Thanks. 😎
Moody Blues are great. I love their old stuff and the 80s stuff. They are just good.
YESS!!! This is the sequel. You nailed it, Amber.
Remember near the end of the first song video, she goes to his concert, but he gets swept away by security although they see each other. Hence, He knows she's out there (somewhere).
There's a Justin Hayward song that he did with the Moody Blues called Forever Autumn. It was done for a musical version of War of the Worlds and is one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear.
I totally agree. A perfect song for Justin's soaring voice.
@@cathybuchanan1747 His voice does soar. I think Forever Autumn is actually a Justin Hayward solo song that he also performed with the Moody Blues later. I would love Rob Squad to react to it.
Amber, you're right! *Janet Spencer-Turner* plays the character from the singer's past in the music video for "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" by The Moody Blues. Spencer-Turner also plays the same role in the video for "Your Wildest Dreams".
Moody Blues! Music for the ages!
"The Tide Rushes In" is a great tune from their older work...also "The Actor".
Moody Blues "CANDLE OF LIFE" is my 2nd favorite song of theirs ❤️
Concept albums, Trip albums. We used to always listen to the moody blues albums complete in one sitting, both sides without interruption or speaking. They were journeys. We weren't in a hurry.
You need to hear: "Ride My See Saw", "The voice", "Just a singer in a Rock & Roll Band".
You are correct this is a direct sequel to the video for "Your Wildest Dreams." The song and the video are both brilliant! Other Moody Blues songs to consider: "Question", "The Story in Your Eyes", "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" and "The Voice." Thanks for a great reaction!
The Moody Blues were a great band and they had so many cool songs!
LOVE The Moody Blues!! SO GOOD: LIVE!!! Hugs, Ya'll!! HAPPY MONDAY!!
I was a Moody Blues fan from way back. When they split up in the '70s and then got back together without Mike Pinder, I never heard anything that held my interest. But the Hayward-Lodge-Edge-Thomas-Pindwner version of the band was among the best ever.
I'm Just A Singer In A Rock N Roll Band is a great song.
And just in case you want to break some blocks of ice- how about Rock n Roll Over You
So happy you played this late Moody Blues hit. Two more you must listen to are Question and Gemini Dream
My dad loves the moody blues, so much so he named me After the singer Justin Hayward
Aw 🥰 and a lovely name it is too!
I met them a long time ago in Boston. They were a nice group of guys..very humble. Their music has stood the test of time.
You guys will absolutely love songs like The Voice, Gemini Dream and I'm Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band!!
Been waiting a year for y’all to get to this sequel of Your Wildest Dreams! Was lucky enough to see the Moody Blues live years ago. Their music got me through some hard days. Glad to see you enjoying it too. Thanks!
I saw them in Reno, NV in 1995. They sounded like a CD just awesome. Great band.
You two will really like, Ride My See Saw, I'm Just a Singer in A Rock n Roll Band, and Your Wildest Dreams.
"Running Water" by The Moody Blues is beautiful too :-)
4 groups I can listen happily to every single song in their catalogue, and do, all the time - The Beatles, The Carpenters, The Moody Blues and ELO.
My husband is a huge ELO fan
I'm the Moody Blues fan
Thank you so much! 🥰 My favourite band of all time and one of my favourite songs of theirs of all time ❤ I would also strongly recommend "Blue World", "Vintage Wine", "Watching and Waiting" and "Forever Autumn" (the "War of the Worlds" version featuring Justin Hayward, the lead singer of the Moody Blues). BTW name comes from "M & B Brewery" (Midlands, UK)!
Love Forever Autumn!
@@kimmaedke2763 I love "Thunderchild" from the same album. I think Jay and Amber should let their older children listen to the whole of the musical "War of the Worlds" I absolutely lived it as a child myself.
Mitchell's and Butler, right?
@@camilleney7487 Of course!
Have the Moodies on your show!!! Justin is a dear heart...obviously. They all are. Gonna go listen!
That would be absolutely awesome!
A great deep cut by them is “Higher and Higher” from the album To Our Children’s Children’s Children. It’s a heavy psychedelic rocker for them.
Excellent tune. Just heard the Daily Doug do the whole album today ironically.
Moody blues was one of my moms all time favorite bands and fall was her favorite season. My favorite (and recommendation) would be forever autumn as its a pretty emotional song, especially for the meaning for me losing my mom 7 years ago.
Nights in white satin is my favourite, as a 72 born baby remember them well
New Horizons from the Seventh Sojourn album has always been a real favourite Moody Blues song. Favourite album though is To Our Children's Children's Chidren. Gypsy, Candle of Life and Watching and Waiting just wonderful.
New Horizons was my wife's and my first song at our wedding. Long story around that.
Always time for The Moody Blues!
This mystery woman appears in quite a few of their songs. I love the Moody Blues and their storytelling abilities. Try "Question" , "Ride My See Saw", and "The Story In Your Eyes" ☮️
It is always a pleasure watching your reactions, Amber, your perception is always spot on!
Best Moody Blues video is " The other side of life " Great song
I love the video too
Amber, you are so smart! This is definitely a sequel. Justin Hayward is a genius song writer. I've always loved The Moody Blues! I saw them twice in the 80's. Once it was just the band
The second time was with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Both were great shows.
The best way to listen to the Moody Blues is by listen to the whole album as most of their LPs are concept albums
Albums DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and THRESHOLD OF A DREAM are their own journey. Their best works!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤❤❤❤
When I worked at Wendy’s in the early 90s, this song was on the tape loop that was played in the dining room. It was a short loop, so I heard it over and over. That’s what I associate with this song. 😊
I haven’t heard this song in years used to have their CD back in the day thanks for playing it ❤❤❤
I highly recommend "The Story in Your Eyes." It's a sizzling rocker that took the world by storm in the summer of 1971.
My best man at our wedding ended his speech by saying we could hide inside our sweet Sweet love forevermore. Probably my favorite MB song. My best man hit the nail on the head when he did that.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Looking back…you got it.
So many great songs worth a listen. Ride My See-Saw, The Story In Your Eyes and Question are just a few
I love Justin Haywards voice!
My favorite Moody Blues album is Every Good Boy Deserves Favor. Songs to consider from this album are...Procession/ The Story In Your Eyes/ Our guessing Game/ Nice To Be Here.
I love this song I enjoy a good ballad.
Pretty sure you've only done Justin's songs. For a Ray Thomas song "Legend of a mind". For a John Lodge song "One more time to live". For a Mike Pinder song "Have You Heard + The Voyage + Have You Heard". Graeme Edge wrote the poetry in between the songs. All great great talents. RIP Mike, Ray, Graeme.
Some Moody Blues songs should only be played along with it's intro tune for the best experience.
'Departure' / 'Ride My See-Saw' (1968) from the 'In Search of The Lost Cord' album. Must be played together, 'Departure' is only 45 seconds long btw.
'In The Beginning' / 'Lovely To See You' (1969) from 'On The Threshold of a Dream. Each a stand alone but best played together. Cheers.
Thank you so much for getting back to the Moodies. My personal favorite band. While I'm happy to hear any of their songs, IMO their best songs are from the first seven albums, when Mike Pinder was still in the group. He gave them their special Moody sound. Next up should be "Question"! And so many more. They have a huge catalog.
The Question everyone is asking is when are the two of you going to get around to reacting to their brilliant song "Question"??? It is right up your alley, Amber, but J will think it's cool too!!
😮Amber, you are amazing!!! Your Wildest Dreams is one of my faves and this beautiful "sequel" is just as perfect! Recommend The Voice, and definitely I'm Just A Singer In A Rock And Roll Band, Stepping in a Slide Zone and Ride My SeeSaw!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Love this song😍
My favorite band.
