Had this sled a couple seaaons ago and switched to a Rossi Jib Elite because of that slow speed twitch. I just didn't get along with it. But it was a beauty otherwise. This review is effing spot on. Capita's textured bases are unreal, best in the industry far as I can tell. Kinetic energy was there underfoot, more reactive and not quite as damp and stable as the Jib Elite but still solid. But gawddammmm the speed was ridiculously awesomated. Only my Stratos has a similar speed but I think the Merc still took the title. For any dudes curious I had it paired with Cartel X's and that was sick, but I think a Bataleon binding woulda been even better for some sweet dampening.

I have the predecessor to the Mercury, the Totally FK’n Awesome. Mine is light (back in the day they used the higher end bamboo core). Got on it again last winter and the thing I noticed is how easy it is to ride compared to the fully cambered boards I have been on recently. It really takes the mental load off so you can concentrate on your riding more. The twitch is real. You just need to get used to it. You don’t have the beautiful carves of a cambered board, or the pop, but it felt super comfortable and just made me more confident riding hard. What’s interesting is that whereas a cambered board wants to lock you into a fixed arc, this sidecut allows you to tighten up or lengthen out your carves without thinking, which makes it really manoeuvrable on the fly, like if you’re lining up a takeoff in choppy snow. Capita really discovered some secret sauce with this shape, and it’s no wonder so many pros are still riding it. A true classic.

hey hey, thanks for your no BS approach. it’s refreshing. 5’7”, 170lb lower level intermediate rider here looking to progress. i’ve been frustrated/intimidated by tracked out cruddy mid-afternoon conditions at crowded resorts. some of this is skill, some might be my gear. your reviews have led me to jones frontier, ride shadowban, and this mercury. im good on blue groomers, want to progress to some steeper terrain, perhaps some easier bowls in colorado, and get better at riding the cruddy stuff. i don’t want to bite off more than i can chew with board selection. advice?

It's a great allmountain Snowboard not a freestyle imo. It is for someone who likes to ride piste, powder, hit some park occasionaly, jumps and wants to have one board. Death grip feels catchy when flat basing, board wants to stay on adge all the time but on the other hand grips well on hard and icy snow. The only problem with this board is since it does everything well, the other boards in your quiver stop making any sens.

Whats up Angry Snowboarder! I Live in Alberta Canada where conditions can very between great powder days to ran through groomers which is why iv'e always stuck to an all mountain board. Im an advanced rider who enjoys bombing the hill as well as finding side hits, ripping through trees and surfing through powder on the days it's there! I currently have a 2021 Salomon assassin 158W which I really do love. I think the one thing the board is lacking for my specific riding style is the lack of energy the board has, it knocks everything out of the park but im looking for a little bit better edge hold without sacrificing too much on the playful side. The mercury is definitely a board I have been considering but I would love to hear your opinion! I do play around in the park here and there but its not a focal point of my riding, although I hit the jumps from time to time. Im 6 feet tall 160 lbs with a 10.5 boot size and medium Salomon bindings. Looking forward to your'e feedback!

Great content - with no bullshit! Always on point! Love it.
Gonna make you really angry with some stupid questions:
A 38yo coming from skiing (advanced) would like to become a snowboarder.
    I am 6,1 / 190-200lbs / 11us boots.
Ambitious Beginner with 7-8 riding days on a rental unknown snowboard. Can handle come safely come down a mountain until now on lower speeds, also some very small “jumps” - I mean really small.
Want to progress in the future. 1x year in mountains in Austria / Germany - out of season regularly indoor (10-15x per year).
Looking for an one and only snowboard to cover everything. Not necessarily park - all mountain, but mainly piste. Later with progress - between trees and all funny things.
Capita Mercury seems to be everything I am looking for, but too much for a beginner?
I don’t care about design. I need a board to fit to my current level with space to progress and not having to switch board after 1-2 years.
Which one would you give me on hand?
    Rome Artifact Pro
    Capita Mercury
    Never Summer Proto Synthesis
    Jones Mountain Twin
    Or any other ?
